Love this series. Back next Sunday

tho the rich families who own their own business etc - I hope they don’t do the usual ‘free training’ to the poorer families and then get them to start their own companies

I’m still watching, it’s a long one!

as if they’d let him have his first ever driving lesson behind the wheel in the middle of london

i know most of the show is scripted and made up but this is just getting silly now

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/03/2026 09:35

I used to love this. The first series’s were great

and would swap like for like

now seems to be extreme and the rich give the poor a break / which is nice but would love to see a catch up year

I did love when asked what meal they wanted cooking for them the 2 adults said spaghetti bolognaise and one of the twins said steak!

agree it would be good to go back a year later and see if it made a difference, especially to see if she became a trained plumber

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:02

I don't like the Versace bed linen

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:03

A lift 😮

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:04

Private jet 😮

That Marbella house looks amazing

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:09

It says gardening is not well paid

I thought gardening was a well paid job?!

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:10

It's high rent in the 'poor' house but would they get help for the rent from UC?

I couldn't compute that either. Our gardener gets £40ph but does bring his own tools.

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:16

That's a lot of water bottles in the fridge

I assumed they would

I couldn’t work out why quite so poor

£2000 for a week wow

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:24

'they've never cooked in their penthouse kitchen'

Surely that can't be true

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/03/2026 22:28

Well they have a chef so ……..

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:29

I mean I guess so but to have never cooked at all there...

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:44

When they cooked that dinner for Tony it was only Tony and the husband eating! The wife just sat on the settee! Bit weird...

purpleme12 · 04/03/2026 22:46

It says she charges £15 an hour for her gardening

What I don’t get is if they rent - why did they not contact landlord about the faulty bathroom tap

Mmm good point

purpleme12 · 05/03/2026 09:15

To be honest I'm not really bothered about going back in a year to see. My suspicion is that with a lot of them not much will have changed. And that's not so much a criticism. I don't think everyone does have to be driven or rich or whatever and the 'poor' people must come on for a bit of a holiday. In the older series they didn't always gift things at the end anyway

But it would be interesting to just know if these 'poor' people in this episode were employed by this company and earning well in a year

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2026 14:20

Yes the older series it was a swap for the week

i think one of the first to buy something was a family who mum was disabled an wheelchair /couldn’t walk and the Rich brought her a electric scooter I think.

then the Rich started to say here’s £30k worth of training free

now they are actually buying cars and vans and supplying business stuff

What I struggle with is that the poor families who usually have debts, usually have an indiscriminate spending spree rather than saying: the children can chose a toy and trainers, we can have a new top each and we'll have a day out, and can use the rest to pay off a bit of the debt. Or perhaps they aren't allowed to do that. I'd certainly be more inclined to help if a family did that.

I remember in a past series, the dad used some of the money to print himself some business cards. That was laudable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2026 00:49

Seen the odd family use wisely and buy say a laptop when needed one

i guess they aren’t allowed to spend it on bills /debt

and the rich always seem to have £2k + a week spare after bills

thats over a £100k extra a year as play money AFTER bills etc

makes you wonder what they earn

and do the Rich lose their £2k or ch5 use via their huge wallet /budget

S12 e4 tonight

single mum Becky from Essex swaps with Brit millionaire Adam / she stays at his 2 million Spanish villa while he lives on the breadline

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 08/03/2026 14:01

She stays in Spain?!

That's different!!

Even more of a holiday!
