I didn't quite get why they were so 'poor' either as that Steve did say that a plasterer is a good wage. I'm not sure it really explained it. I know they were in debt but I mean how they got in so much debt....

But yes the rich family were very lovely and generous to the 'poor' family. Thought they gave them really useful gifts

Filling the cupboard to the brim with food and buying an air fryer iron Hoover various items was really really nice as well as buying a shed and ordering two Skips

I know to the rich family five grand is probably nothing to them. I’m would’ve really helped out the pool but why were they so poor to not pay the gas bill for over a year and if they’re both working again why but they’re not at least managing to vote for their day-to-day bills

I find it fascinating. The best one imo wasnthe one with the vets.

I like the programme but it’s all a bit “staged” now.

It made me think about the link between personal appearance and social mobility or success or whatever you want to call it. I get that ripped jeans and bare belly tattoo-revealing hoodies are good for cleaning, and backwards baseball cap, old t shirt and shorts are practical for delivering parcels, but wouldn’t two middle aged people know to make a slight effort to look smarter than scruffy teenagers when going into a meeting in a corporate office with people who might be able to help them? The rich couple managed to look clean and smart in jeans and casual tops so it’s not about expensive clothes. People sometimes hold themselves back

I’m sure the producers of the programme will have a hand in their wardrobe decisions. They want them to look like the ‘poor people’ they are representing.

Yes, agree it is obviously all rather managed, the ordering of a van fully kitted out for mobile car valeting must require some advance planning!
