I’ve just seen that the release date for The testaments will be 8th April on Disney+
I loved THT, yes it lost its way a little over the seasons, but still a stunning bit of telly.
I’ve read The Testaments a couple of times and I will be watching, anyone else?

I’m completely loving it, it’s so beautifully shot. The costumes, the venues, the way the rich people live. It’s just so beautiful and a brilliant contrast to the horror of it.

Has anyone watched Unchosen on Netflix?

there are 6 episodes (I’m only the first) and it’s based on the cults in the UK, and it’s men are in charge, women are subservient, so a little like handmaids tale

Yes, I binge watched it the other day. I was a little confused as I'd assumed that they all lived together when it was described as a commune, but each family had their own homes

Also very pleasantly surprised by how much I am enjoying it - and yes to the wonderfully unexpected cameo!

DH and I have just finished binge watching THT, all six series of it. Thoroughly enjoyed the story but found the final series was a disappointing ending. Loose ends tied up very quickly and no reunion for June with her daughter Hannah! 😢

However we have now watched all 8 episodes of TT so far that have been released. Enjoying the Aunt Lydia part of this series and the friendship of Daisy and Agnes developing. I think there's rumours of a few more series planned for TT.

I have bought the two books on Audible so looking forward to listening to them. It appears that they are very different to the TV adaptations! Glad others are enjoying it too.

I have just seen episode 3. I am struggling again with the darkness (I can not see what is happening in some of the Toronto scenes). I am loving the Gilliad scenes, the costumes, colours and beautiful settings... not so much the field trips and assemblies.

When is the next episode released? How many are there?
Really enjoying TT.
Only just figured out that Lydia’s teacher Vivien friend from Before is now Aunt Vidala. No wonder she hates Lydia, she very nearly shot her in the head!

Soubriquet · 19/05/2026 09:16

Every Wednesday, a new episode is released

10 in total and on Wednesdays so 2 to go. I think there will be multiple series so Agnes deciding to be an aunt and dodging marriage may be the finale or they go a different way and he gets killed off.

Echobelly · 19/05/2026 09:37

Yes I figured they must be spreading it across a few more series given they haven't got into the 'meat' of the book plot (which bi thought was amazing, sooo much tension)

Like others,I love the way this show presents a sort of seductive peace and beauty about the lives of the girls - interspersed with moments of brutality and cruelty that remind you of the horror they are actually living in.

And the creepy dentist dad... agggh! Perfectly skin-crawling and you know Gilead would be full of men like that.

Just finished episode 9, not to ruin it for anyone but crikey that got dark fast. 🫣

Placemarking for when I catch up with this weeks.

Yes, I really wasn't expecting... well any of it really. We are going to be left on a real cliffhanger next week, aren't we.

I want to ask without spoilers! Does anyone think that the people in black at the end weren’t who we think they are?

I don't think they are The Eyes. Some of them definitely looked female, I think they are Mayday.

PersonIrresponsible · 21/05/2026 15:27

Watched it with a friend and simultaneously we exclaimed

"They have boobs!"

Mayday Marthas pretending to be Eyes per chance?

Or Eye Eyes?

I am voting for the former.

Edited

Whoever they are I thought it was far fetched that they could apparently be assembled so quickly

PersonIrresponsible · Yesterday 11:06

That is a good point that suggests they are THE Eyes then.

To be fair, we are used to our police who turn up a week next Tuesday for serious crimes...if ever for the rest.

Secretseverywhere · Yesterday 19:48

I wondered if it might be the aunts? They were clearly women and they didn’t restrain Becca in the way the eyes would have. She’d of been gagged / restrained. Perhaps they will determine whether Becca has a calling to gods work? Then she will train to be an aunt (like the book).
