I actually wish they'd scrap the "secret relationship" thing. It undermines the idea of a group of total strangers meeting each other and apart from S1, which is the only one where there's never been any metagaming because it was the first one, it never leads into anything interesting or worthwhile.

Wasn't it in series 1 where that annoying blonde woman suddenly announced at breakfast that she was in a relationship with the juggler or whatever he was? There was another young man she'd been flirting with who looked absolutely crushed.

Yes I agree with you on that. The ‘secret relationship’ theme is a bit lame / redundant. Cheap and easy ‘shock value’ which adds little if anything to the game.

Vol8fdop · 04/01/2026 08:39

I agree that the murder in plain sight is staged- there's no way they've asked them to mark the portrait with ALL the other contestants around. Imagine if they were caught- total game over. No way they'd take that risk.
And yes, Rachel probably included Stephen within the selection to try to remove the heat on him over the Ben//Ross conversation.

I'm not sure they will reveal the ST identify to us (in the very next epsiode). They could probably string us along for at least another few epsidoes. Clever editing of the turret discussions. There's no reason to disclose to the audience just yet.

pouletvous · 04/01/2026 08:42

The murder in plain sight tasks are always staged

Yes. Eg. Alan’s Shakespeare / Fry inspiration to murder Celia - ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow‘ totally prepared and scripted. Funny though 🤷‍♀️

My husband is a barrister and as soon as Harriet started going at Hugo, I think it was so obvious she’s got that sort of background (although maybe that’s just because we knew/I’ve got a good insight into what barristers are like!).

I will also say, my husband is a force to be reckoned with in court (watching him do Zoom court during lockdown was eye opening!) but he’s dreadful at defending himself when we argue. I think they have to see things at work as being totally impersonal and stay disconnected, whereas when it’s about them, it’s a lot harder to do that.

I did think that Harriet spoke very eloquently.

Yes, that was horrible to see. The poor bloke.

I still think Sam looks like Mat Baker.

So far, seeing a lot of bright women (Harriet, Amanda, Fiona, Jessie, Ellie, Rachel) The men, not so much.

Rachel and Stephen will surely have to murder Reece now?

Actually it was the boyfriend who announced their relationship at breakfast when he got totally overwrought at other contestants speculating that his girlfriend was a traitor and uttered tge immortal line, ‘She’s not a traitor. She’s my girlfriend’. He was a bit of a knob!

I actually like the relationship aspect if it’s done well. The Diane/Ross reveal was a pure Mike drop moment and they never told anyone so there were lots of amusing moments when the audience knew but the contestants didn’t.

On a different subject I hope they get rid of Jessie soon as the way she eats was disgusting. 🤢 Eating with her mouth completely open at breakfast and talking whilst it was all churning around in her mouth. I can’t believe someone in real life hasn’t pointed it out to her before.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2026 09:00

They were on Uncloaked the other day. Perfectly nice couple.

I work in the CJS (admin). I think Hugo & Amanda have both under estimated how different it is to question/gather info as a peer without the uniform, status and court apparatus/hierarchies giving them a lot more weight

HighStreetOtter · 04/01/2026 09:10

Someone on tiktok has done an in-depth video studying the background of the panelling when Claudia tapped the secret traitor. Says it’s either Roxy, Adam or Faraaz.

That was awful. Pretty much everyone thought they'd get together. Then she brushed it off as if it was nothing.

But that might have been filmed later when no one was there.

Blimey you lot can talk, we’re almost out of thread!

I’m off out for a few hours shortly so will get the next thread ready to go so the conversation can continue while I’m out.

Just catching up on the thread.

I don't think there'll be more relationships - If Hugo was related to anyone, I think we would have found it out in the exit interview.

I'm thinking Harriet got ST and she deliberately revealed her theory to Rachel to see how she'd react. My second guesses would be Fiona or Amanda.

On TRIE, Richard Osman explained why they wouldn't keep ST going for very long from a production perspective. He also mentioned Harriet.

There is no reason why they would still need to keep ST'S identity a secret, as the ST will now be joining them instead of being the one to dictate who to murder.

Despite Hugo being gone, Rachel is still very threatened and wants to be in charge from her "We don't need them" response. I think we can expect Rachel to work against ST and throw them under the bus quicker than they did with Hugo!

Another agree! They got lucky with the 'But Ross is...' reaction and have been trying to recreate it ever since.

I also really dislike the focus on occupations, really feel like more so this year. No one has an advantage in the game, it relies on a lot of luck and personality. Bringing the occupation into the game is kind of a bust - a bit like Jaz being accused of being Dr Shipman. It's really tedious to keep hearing them say 'oh she's a barrister, therefore,' or 'Oh I'm a detective, so of course...' it means nothing.
Blimey. I think the next series should be interactive (like a Black Mirror episode) and we can choose the outcomes, since we all have so much to say!

Pusstachio · 04/01/2026 09:39

Yes I remind my DC there are loads of unsolved crimes and several recent high profile convictions quashed! Police training is not a super power…

Yes, the Traitors wanted to recruit her and she refused and told the others. Naturally they got suspicious so her boyfriend swept in, revealed they were a couple and that's how he knew she was truthful. Another young man had been very into her and didn't know she was attached so that was horrible for him. And of course, she got murdered and the boyfriend got banished.

WonderfulSmith · 04/01/2026 09:40

I get the feeling that they were assuming that the traitors would stay in for a few more episodes so the ST would stay secret for longer.

I didn’t understand the fingerprint task. What does that have to do with the secret traitor?

lettingthedaysgoby · 04/01/2026 09:45

Fulmine · 03/01/2026 23:49

Surely they've all seen the first two episodes and know all about the secret traitor?

They were discussing the ST on Uncloaked, so it's obvious that they know the ST exists. And I'm sure the contestants know who it was, as well as knowning who wins, but are under a secrecy agreement.

quite.

You'll win the game if people like you and you aren't coming across as the clever one!
