I'm finding Patience's expert knowledge on every subject possible, difficult to take now. And her almost bionic hearing in one of the episodes was stretching things too. It's strayed into the realms of 'autism is a superpower' which is frustrating.
I'm also confused as to why the Jessica Hynes character seems to carry a gun with her? And how come she's so well off?
I'm hoping both the mystery around Patience's mother and the DI's lifestyle are cleared up in the remaining 2 episodes

I think she may be a sister too, she's obviously going to be someone who will affect her life, judging by P's godfather's worried look.

Joy is the woman who Patience visited with Elliott. She told Patience her mother had died.
I can't remember how Patience got the address though or how Joy was connected with her mother.

I hadn't considered that.
I think she's just got more information about the mother, rather than her being 'someone' herself. Maybe she'd been told to tell anyone that came looking for her, that she had died. But having met Patience, she felt guilty having told her a lie and decided to tell her the truth.
But hopefully we shall find out!

Absolutely this. She wasn't like this the last series now she is an expert at botany, Viking history, foresics etc. and she comes across as a bit of a know it all too. Still, I enjoyed it, I just wish they'd tone down her expertise at everything.

@KittyHigham I agree with this. Savant type autism is super rare and it gives the public the wrong idea. It’s far from a super power in my opinion.

The bionic hearing is one thing I would accept. Quite a few autistic people have extremely acute hearing, which is why loud noises can be so painful to them and why they may have attention problems, because they can hear so many distracting sounds and voices

I think the 'sister' storyline is an indication that Series 3 has been / is to be commissioned, which is good news.
