What Christmas film should I watch while step wrapping today?

I'm planning on using today to finish my wrapping while the baby (hopefully) naps.

Recommendations for lightheaded/fun Christmas films to watch l watch while I do it would be great, can be on any of the main channels, netflix, Disney or Appletv. Doesn't need to be a classic or have good reviews, just something easy to follow and fun!

So far this week I've watched - Nativity, Father Christmas is Back, Best Christmas Ever and Single all the Way.

I know it’s all a bit of fun but I don’t get Die Hard being a Christmas film……. It’s just happens to be set at Christmas, if you removed that element, it wouldn’t change the film.

My husband and I have this argument (in jest) every year.

I don’t know where all the good Christmas films have gone this year. I mean, I know good is a relative term but all the hallmark classics. I’ve struggled to find them this year.

EleanorReally · 20/12/2025 09:24

arent they on channel 5 @Tulipvase

EleanorReally · 20/12/2025 09:24

second thoughts good christmas films are not really shown on Channel 5 @Tulipvase

Ooh I thought step wrapping was a cool term for wrapping in stages! First, wrap presents for extended family, have a break, then main presents for dc, have a break, etc.

Muppet Christmas Carol. No contest.

This is the correct answer.

Tbf, none are actually good! I just don’t really love the sickly sweet romance ones. I prefer the ones where someone is down on their luck and then things get better. Or they need a new home and the town comes together to fix it for them. Or rescuing horses from the mountain type thing.

i liked Last Christmas

Day After Tomorrow
Nim's Island

PuppyMonkey · 20/12/2025 09:42

I watched Love Actually for the first time in years the other night and was astounded by how terrible it was. Just not at all funny and no heart. Even Emma Thompson couldn’t rescue it.

The Christmas episodes of Frasier would be my choice for wrapping day.

About a Boy

Muppets Christmas Carol needs to be watched properly!

My vote is Jingle All The Way

Mmmkaay · 20/12/2025 16:55

I just watched Jingle Bell Heist on Netflix while doing a mammoth wrapping session - it's really good!

Oh What Fun current film on prime about a mum melt down at Christmas found quite amusing!

I started to watch that this morning before Amazon Prime kicked me out & wouldn't let me reset my password. Now I'm in so hoping to watch it with DD1 tonight

Some great suggestions here. Am following

Lunde · 20/12/2025 17:42

Champagne problems is great - but perhaps not while wrapping because of the need to read the subtitles when they speak French in places

The Holiday is great.

The Christmas Chronicles (elves with attitude)

The Santa Clause 1 and 2 (not so much 3)

Miracle on 34th Street (both versions)

The Bishop's Wife 1947 - David Niven as the distracted and stressed out Bishop, Loretta Young as his wife and Cary Grant as Dudley the angel

I was surprised but I enjoyed "Our Little Secret" (Netflix) with Lindsay Lohan who arrives for Christmas with her new boyfriend to find out that he is the brother of the ex she never really got over - and they decide to pretend they don't know each other....

Genie - an antiques expert is struggling at work and at home until Genie (Melissa McCarthy) pops out of an antique box

A Cinderella Christmas Ball - cheesy and predictable story of incognito Prince and woman trying to find her mother - but OMG I can't believe Danica McKeller is 50!

The Snow Bride - Greta is a journalist currently working at a gossip magazine and is sent to get a story on a political family (like a Californian Kennedy family) - her car gets stuck in the snow ....

Silverbirchleaf · 20/12/2025 17:54

Christmas Inheritance - predictable but watchable

A Very Vintage Christmas - also predictable but heartwarming

Our Little Secret - as mentioned above. Also quite good.

All three easy, feel good watches.

m00rfarm · 20/12/2025 18:04

I used to watch Shrek when wrapping presents. Not the Christmas one. Any of the others. It is the perfect film for gift wrapping.

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 21/12/2025 16:26

The Family Man with Nicholas Cage. It's on Prime at the moment

PinkPepperPolka · 21/12/2025 16:32

Die Hard. Always Die Hard.

Darklane · 22/12/2025 21:11

Scrooge…the Albert Finney one, brilliant

Love Actually

White Christmas…the absolute classic & such fun.
