Two. One in the living room for my parents which was really the family TV, and one in another room for my sibling and I for if we wanted to watch something my parents didn't.

mondaytosunday · 18/12/2025 18:54

One small black and white one. Second hand. My parents didn’t get a (small again) colour TV until the 1980s.

NetballHoop · 18/12/2025 18:54

None. We lived abroad in countries where there wasn't any TV worth watching.

Upthenorth · 18/12/2025 18:55

One

We have zero now but do have a projector for films and the odd series.

Maneattraction · 18/12/2025 18:55

1 when I was a small kid-it was in the living room

5 by the time I left home in my early 20s! Bedrooms x 3. Living room x 1. Kitchen x 1.

DramaAlpaca · 18/12/2025 18:55

Just one

TeenToTwenties · 18/12/2025 18:56

One. (70s & 80s).

Coffeeishot · 18/12/2025 18:57

2 I was a sickly kid so was always in bed so I had a portable tv,.

Twinkletwinkly · 18/12/2025 18:57

1 small black and white one. The signal was often sketchy and my poor dad would have to go up into the loft to wiggle the arial around while we all shouted instructions up to him.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 18/12/2025 18:58

6, in the 90s we had one in front room, one in kitchen and one in each of the bedrooms.

Holdonforsummer · 18/12/2025 18:58

One. And it was in the dining room so we had to sit on hard backed chairs to watch TV. The living room was for classical music, conversation and my parents’ time together in the evening.

gogomomo2 · 18/12/2025 18:59

1, they were very expensive when I was small, many people rented them even. We got a second when I was 10 for the spectrum

honeyfox · 18/12/2025 19:00

Just the one.

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 18/12/2025 19:01

2, one medium sized one with a big deep back on it. Then when we were about 10 they got a second small TV for the super Nintendo!

DarkEyedSailor · 18/12/2025 19:02

Two. One for the living room and a black and white one for anyone who wanted to watch something else.

One in both living rooms and every bedroom. Too many

Ilovepastafortea · 18/12/2025 19:03

I was born in 1961 - there was one black & white TV until about 1980 when my parents rented a colour one. My DCs never had TVs in their bedrooms (oldest born 1983) & we had 3 then - 1 in our bedroom, 1 in the living room & I bought a small one for the kitchen so that I could watch the news whilst cooking, washing up etc.

IdaGlossop · 18/12/2025 19:04

None until my dad got a colour TV to watch BBC documentary 'The World at War'. Until then, we watched Doctor Who on Saurdays on my granny's black and white.

mazedasamarchhare · 18/12/2025 19:05

I remember the excitement when dad came home with a new TV which….wait for it…..drum roll please….had a remote control! He bought it a few days before Christmas, but didn’t bring it home until Christmas Eve. It was quite a large screen (not by today’s standards) but much bigger than the black and white one we’d had for years and years! the novelty of not having to argue over who was going to get up to change channel made for a much more peaceful Christmas! We still had the old Betamax video though, that was finally replaced by a VHS video for Christmas 1989!
