We had 7
The 90s
1 in the TV room
1 in the sitting room
1 in the dining room
1 in the kitchen
1 in my bedroom
1 in my sister's bedroom
1 in my mum and dad's room
We didn't have sky though and we rarely watched telly. Only on a Saturday night so I'm not quite sure why we had so many tvs

One. In the main living room. It was quite small too. It was the 70s. Now I have 7 ranging in sizes from huge to 30inches. In bedrooms and even one in a bathroom. Times change and tvs became cheaper.

We had one b&w in the 70s (didn’t have a TV until I was about 7 - I felt very ostracised at school because of my dad’s ‘beliefs’).
Once we got one it was a small b&w set and eventually upgraded to colour and I had the b&w in my room at about age 10? That b&w TV lasted til my mid-20s - they don’t make them like that anymore!!!

1 growing up but when I moved back in after uni I had a TV in my room and by that point so did my brother , so basically one until we were young adults and bought our own

1
Pre-remote era.
No children’s programmes, if cricket or racing was available.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 24/12/2025 14:32

1 most if the time.
0 for periods.

1970s, we had two when I was about ten. The second one was a tiny portable in my parent’s room.

That’s one more than I have now at 57.

One. And we were late adopters of video recording technology. But my parents had three televisions by the time my own children were born.

DH and I only ever had one apart from when I gave DS a little portable with an integral video player for when he wanted to watch steam train videos on a loop.

1 for many years. Then, when I was 15 or so (1973ish) I was given a small second-hand black and white set for my bedroom. Amazing! I could actually watch the programmes I wanted to watch - Monty Python, Sergeant Bilko, The Old Grey Whistle Test at last! I was sooo happy.

Itsmetheflamingo · 24/12/2025 20:25

Different numbers at different times. Surely a bit odd to have the same number throughout the decades of childhood?

ours was between 1-4 depending on children’s ages etc

CloverPyramid · 24/12/2025 20:27

Four, in the late 90s/2000s. One in the living room, one in the kitchen, one in my parent’s bedroom and one in my bedroom once I was in secondary school. Only the one in the living room was a full size one, the rest were little ones.

firstofallimadelight · 24/12/2025 20:44
