But that's what they do?

It isn't. They stand in front of the judges get torn to shreds if your a woman from Shirley constructively criticised, go upto the Clauditorium for another chat and then get their scores.

Semi final songs and dances...

Amber and Nikita - Couple’s Choice to Fly Me To The Moon by Raye / Tango to Higher by Michael Buble

Balvinder and Julian - Salsa to Rhythm is Gonna Get You and Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefan / Waltz to At This Moment by Michael Buble

George and Nikita - Charleston to We No Speak Americano by Yolanda B Cool / Samba to Volare by Gipsy Kings

Karen and Carlos - Salsa to Turn The Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson / Waltz to One Moment In Time by Whitney Houston

So Bal and Karen are both doing Salsa and Waltz - directly comparable. I imagine the judges will score Bal’s waltz higher than Karen’s with the opposite in the salsa so they end up tied / nearly tied at the bottom.

then it will be Amber v Bal dance off and Bal out.

I would LOVE to see a George and Nikita charleston and samba :)

Piggywaspushed · 09/12/2025 15:01

Karen and Bal doing the same dances?

Balvinder is doomed. George has the Fun Stuff. With or without Nikita!

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 09/12/2025 15:10

Has anybody else really not liked the song choices this year? Half of them I don't even recognise (I'm getting old aren't I)

BarryBannan · 09/12/2025 15:15

I'm not keen on Karen. All the Kaz stuff gets on my nerves.

The songs this year haven't seemed to fit the style of dance (in a lot of cases). I don't mind more current songs if they fit the dance (Ed Sheeran's Shivers for Rose & Gio's tango was perfect, for example).

The producers should match the songs to the dance, not the other way round.

CardigansOfTheGalaxy · 09/12/2025 15:29

I'd never heard of George before Strictly but I like his humour and the fact he doesn't take himself too seriously, shades of Chris McCausland.

Katya and Lewis were always going to be up against it trying to dance to Mambo, it doesn't really lend itself to lots of the straightforward steps, some of the accents are in unexpected places, it just looked frantic.

I can see Amber is great, but I'm not really interested in her. I'd have loved Katya to win or I'd be delighted for Carlos to win.

KimberleyClark · 09/12/2025 15:30

Will be interesting to see to see how Karen copes with something slow and elegant and floaty that sh3 can’t very well “attack”.

They've been atrocious this year. I have no problem with a song I'm not keen on if it works for the dance, but that's not even been the case this year.

And like you, theres been masses I don't know at all. Presumably that's to try and appeal to the yoof demographic.

I have read in the past that the judges have to submit the scores as soon as the dance is finished and before they give their comments - presumably so they don’t get influenced by what the other judges say. So when they actually show the paddles for the scores it’s just confirming what they’ve already submitted.

ChessieFL · 09/12/2025 16:15

I agree that the music to dance choices have been terrible this year. They need to pick the dance style and work out what songs would work for it rather than picking a song they like and then trying to shoehorn an inappropriate dance into it.

Coffeeishot · 09/12/2025 16:40

BarryBannan · 09/12/2025 14:30

Not for about 10 years. That's what saw off Sophie Ellis Bextor.

I really should pay attention. 😃

dapsnotplimsolls · 09/12/2025 18:15

I think George could really do something with those dances if Thingy actually choreographs them to show him off rather than her.

rainbowruthie · 09/12/2025 19:08

I'm confused (it doesn't take much!) no Takes Two this evening?

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 09/12/2025 19:08

I like Karen’s ‘professional competitor’ vibe- she’s the ultimate team player, never forgets a thank you or to point the spotlight at others. She’s a fab personality in that respect. She’s clearly had a few knocks, and is picking herself up again. Hopefully this will give her a boost, regardless of the outcome.

Yes. It was a tribute to Tess and Claud. I enjoyed it, I thought it was really lovely and funny.

Agreed, although I did like the two dances Lewis and Katya did to alternative versions of Creep and Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor.

Is that because the couples are so busy learning two dances no one can spare the time to appear on It Takes Two?

tennissquare · 09/12/2025 21:25

The Tuesday show is filmed on Mondays so it was filmed last night and today they are filming the Christmas show so lots of the other pros are doing that.

Back21970 · 10/12/2025 00:46

I’ve just caught up on Mondays ITT - omg poor Katya, she was distraught.

I generally hate all the shows of emotion (Carlos for one) but my heart went out to her.

And Lewis handled it so well - I thought when he was comforting her it was quite touching.

I’m gutted for them both.

Really hoping Bal pulls it out of the bag now and makes the final.

Bayroot1 · 10/12/2025 13:33

Has anyone seen the Facebook post by Lewis? Asking people not to tear down Amber. I'll copy and paste it.
