I’m not sure I can be bothered watching now, the remaining contestants are just a bit…dull. Lewis may have been a ringer, but at least he had a bit of personality.

That made me smile because, to me, Lewis is so bland and so lacking in personality that I forgot about him every week. Amber is also very bland. That's why I always enjoy watching Bal, Karen, and George over Amber and Lewis, even if the latter two are better dancers.

redwinecheeseandothersnacks · 09/12/2025 10:07

I just can't see the love for Lewis. I did think as a team Katya and Lewis were getting a bit smug and clearly expected to win. It seemed like a two tier show - Amber and Lewis..and then the rest. So dare I say I'm Lewis has gone - team George or Bal here ..quietly leaving and closing the door behind me..

I don't think Katya expected to win as no ringer has ever won. But ofc you are certainly allowed to prefer Bal or George.

That would ensure unpopular ringers didn’t win - but would increase the likelihood of social media stars with huge ffollowings winning.

Do they still not do this ?

She was absolutely devastated, though. I've been watching her for years and I've never seen her so distraught.
I think going out at the quarters was a blow, even if she didn't think they'd win, I think she must have planned for the final.

I agree, ai don't think Katya expects anything she is competitive works really hard probably a bit too hard hence the over complicated dance on Saturday, but i don't think she expects to win, wanting to win is different from expecting isn't it?

Coffeeishot · 09/12/2025 11:07

And tbh she cried when Ed Balls was eliminated she is very emotional as was said by a pp she can't hide her face.

No they don’t. I think they did when it was a four person final.

I was convinced they still did this so they only did 2 showdances!

Sorry for the massive ugly link.

DP said the same.

Shocking result, I overheard a group of older ladies bitching about it at coffee this morning 😂

I'm not invested much now he's gone.

It's crazy and annoying to me that the judges base it purely on one dance that night, not their performance as a whole, which Lewis will have wiped the floor. The best male celebrity they've ever had, but because they didn't like his dance in the night he went?? Bizarre.

That's the entire premise of the dance-off and always has been. You have to pick a way of judging it and, if they judged it on who they thought was the best dancer overall, that's very open to their personal and possibly unconscious biases. Also they'd have to look back over the person's dances in the whole series so far, which would be time-consuming and not very good telly.
The DO does also, when it's close, give people a chance to correct mistakes and/or raise their game. It can work out well for those who are usually good but had one bad dance.

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 09/12/2025 11:33

Just to note Katya didn't choreography the salsa. Salsas (and a few others) are done by other choreographer for all the couples. She doesn't have much say so it's unfair to blame her for the dance.

That is what I thought. Even harder for her then.

KimberleyClark · 09/12/2025 11:41

Maybe they should adopt the Dancing on Ice model where the judges give their scores first and then comment on the dance. This might stop them giving a lot of criticism then still giving a high score, as they did with Lewis.

deadpan · 09/12/2025 12:12

It's more fair for the non dancers to being the final but I was hoping Amber would go out before Lewis. For me he has a lot of character as well as ability while amber is bland and acts likes still in a musical with her over exaggerated reactions afterwards. I've never seen Katya so upset as I did on It Takes Two last night I think she's just enjoyed dancing with Lewis so much and maybe disappointed that he left on that dance. Not that it was her fault or his it was just a shit overly complicated routine.

Brenda (I miss monkseal) is the pettiest man ive ever listened to, he is dustied off every year to moan how bad Strictly is then put away for another year .

He alternates it with James Jordan who is always up for a moan to garner some column inches.

I have never watched ITT since the very early days. Had to find last night's. Poor Katya is devastated (and I don't particularly like her)

Not for about 10 years. That's what saw off Sophie Ellis Bextor.

I remember them doing that and I hated it. If your favourite was out you didn’t even get to see all their dances.

However imperfect the current voting system is, it works pretty well… except, although I love the dance off, as some of you on here often say, it would work even better if the contestant with the lowest number of votes was just out.
