KEEP DANCING

Use this thread when the other is full, thanks!

But yes, I think George will win. Despite Alexis doing all the dancing.
Bal and Amber in the DO next week with Bal leaving.

EasilyRemedied · 08/12/2025 07:44

I love the show. It’s been amazing to watch Lewis and Amber dancing, but they shouldn’t be shocked that they lose out towards the final. Of course it counts against them that they have both done dancing professionally, whereas the other contestants they are competing against have never danced before. It’s hardly fair. And I’m glad the voting has finally reflected this.
Any of the three who are new to dancing deserve to win. Kudos to Lewis and Amber for stepping in last minute, I’ve loved watching them, but if Amber were to win it would just be wrong.

Karen is absolutely not new to dancing. She trained as a child and went on to complete on big events until she gave it up for football.

You don't learn to do those spins or a one handed handstand in 4 days.

OhDear111 · 08/12/2025 08:17

I think the experienced dancers don’t expect to win. Mostly it’s a non dancer because the voters like the journey. Lewis was set up by the judges comments who didn’t like the dance but he’s got work in the future if he wants it. Ditto Amber.

KC looks very skinny now compared to her in football kit when playing.

Holluschickie · 08/12/2025 08:20

I myself don't expect ringers to win- when have they ever?- but I like them to get to the final so we can enjoy their showdances. I guess Amber will anyway. But I am not enjoying Nikita's choreo this year.

KimberleyClark · 08/12/2025 08:32

I’d like Amber to win. Must have been utterly humiliating to have ended up in the dance off despite scoring 40 and leading the leaderboard by 5 points. But she hasn’t let it defeat her.

threesocksmorgan · 08/12/2025 08:34

I am in the anyone but Amber to win, I think she showed her true colours this week.

Clawdy · 08/12/2025 08:35

Gutted that Lewis has gone. But as everyone says, inevitable that the judges would choose Amber.

lettingthe12daysofXmasgoby · 08/12/2025 08:39

I like to see the couples thanking people in BSL - it's very inclusive. I'd like to see more BSL used in situations like that.

lettingthe12daysofXmasgoby · 08/12/2025 08:43

I'm sad Lewis & Katya have gone, I've loved watching Katya with a good partner, I'd happy watch half an hour of Katya dancing routines she's choreographed with decent partners every week!

I'd like, and will vote for, Karen to win - for all the reasons (established pro who has done a good job, journey include a physical difficulty, strong sportswoman, great dancer in the right dances).

I agree. It's lovely that this has been carried on and I can't believe there's negativity about it.

BeaLola · 08/12/2025 08:51

The problem next week will be those with the less liked/harder technical dances eg George has in theory a crowd pleasing Charleston where it should be easy to get a good mark whereas what does Karen have left ?

This is why I think Charleston or Argentine Tango should be left for all semi finalists so you are comparing like for like

Amber is likely to be top of leader board and therefore even if in dance off will get voted through by judges

I agree. It always used to be that Charleston and AT were kept back until well into the show where the remaining dancers had proved themselves in basic ballroom and were ready for something more challenging.

That’s a good point. Didn’t the AT used to be left for the semi-final, for the remaining contestants to all do the same dance? That makes much more sense.

I really liked George’s AT on Saturday though and don’t agree that Alexis did all the dancing. There were lots of lifts and leaps that she couldn’t have done with a passive partner, but it all looked effortless thanks in part to George doing his bit. That said, in the group dance I did think he nearly lost his grip and had to hitch her up at the end!

cordelia16 · 08/12/2025 09:14

Holluschickie · 08/12/2025 06:47

I really disagree that Alexis does all the dancing, and I'm getting so tired of hearing the same criticisms on here (that goes for the same criticisms of all the contestants left. It's getting boring.). That was true in two of their numbers, but if you watch the AT, George was doing kicks and flicks and moving her about the floor. He also has tremendous partnering skills - those lifts, esp in rapid succession, are not easy. It's a disservice to him to say he does no dancing. And he's an absolute beginner. I'd like to see everyone's DHs/sons do half as good a job as George does.

Figgygal · 08/12/2025 09:16

I get what people are saying about non ringers developing and the journey but none of them this year are on par with previous years. I do think the quality of dancing given the stage of the competition is pretty poor

KimberleyClark · 08/12/2025 09:26

Re the “journey”, even in the past you’d get people like Harry Judd who although apparently not ringers barely put a foot wrong from the start. Not all non ringers have a “journey”.

Huh? My DH or son wouldn't even be ahle to walk out on the Strictly floor. And my mum wouldn't be as good as Alex. What does that have to do with anything? That's a really weird analogy.

Butteredtoast55 · 08/12/2025 09:30

firstofallimadelight · 08/12/2025 06:43

I think George will win for the same reason angry ginge won I’m a celeb. Their fans /followers are loyal and vast.
Dance off next week I predict Balvinder and Amber with Balvinder leaving.

And that's the infuriating thing: Balvinder (and I think she's lovely and has done really well) is unlikely to make the final if she's in a dance off with any of the others. So she would be out anyway were it not for huge sympathy voting. Whilst Lewis would have been fantastic in the final. Oh well 🙁
I think Katya was so upset because she was key to choreographing the routine and she knew that was the weakness. She's normally such a fantastic choreographer and dancer but she overdid it for this routine.

threesocksmorgan · 08/12/2025 09:33

i do miss a good american smooth.

Holluschickie · 08/12/2025 09:35

Does anyone know if Katya really did the choreo? Didn't seem like her.

I don't understand what this means ?

LittleBitofBread · 08/12/2025 09:39

you can’t not vote for the producers though. You can only express your feelings about a west end dancer being in it by not voting for the west end dancer.
In that sense I don’t think a lot of the feeling towards Amber is personal; it’s about someone/anyone with her experience being in it.
Especially if they do a dance that’s basically the same as the stuff they do in their day jobs, as she did this week.

Edited to say that was a response to mellon’s post about people’s anger being directed at the wrong person.

Neither can I. It shouldn't have surprised me but it did.

So first some people don't want any disabled contestants because they "ruin the vibe". And now it's annoying that non deaf people are making a small gesture to include the deaf community for some reason. Except for when the actual deaf person did it. That was acceptable because she was one of them.

I can't eye roll hard enough 🙄🙄🙄.

what do you mean by that? I wonder what I missed.

I don’t want Amber to win as her dancing in Strictly feels a bit like the next step in her usual job. But I don’t mind her winning as my DD really likes her dancing and voted for her consistently.
