I have got some fantastic recommendations here over the years so want to return the favour.

Just finished Malice on Prime and its amazing. Cast is superb and just the right amount of suspense and plot twists. Jack Whitehall has reinvented himself with this one. Not a joke in sight!

I've added this to my watchlist and am looking forward to watching in. Some comedians make the best straight men!

Just finished watching this today. Absolutely loved it- real White Lotus/Hand That Rocks the Cradle vibe to it. Jack Whitehall was an absolute revelation in it.

StrikeForever · 17/11/2025 00:29

I have just watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. I’m quite surprised that Jack Whitehall us such a decent actor!

On episode 3 it's just the right thing for this time of year. I've never seen Jack Whitehall in anything . It's kinda giving me Ripley vibes

ArMuinNaMuice · 17/11/2025 09:15

Glad you all like it. DD15, DH and I watched it together, was superb family time and no extreme violence etc - its just mind games!

I'm two episodes in and yes, it's sort of Ripley meets White Lotus. I like it so far. Always had a soft spot for David Duchovny (huge X-Files fan here)

I just finished this and really enjoyed the first half but I felt the second (especially the last episode) was much weaker. Loved the locations and Nat's wardrobe.

It became pretty predictable. I don't want to give any spoilers as it seems most on the thread haven't finished!

jeebiesheebies · 17/11/2025 20:18

I’m on ep4 and I’m enjoying it. It’s got really bad reviews on IMDB!
I’ve got a very soft spot for Jack Whitehall, he’s very easy on the eye and is a decent actor. It’s weird watching him in a dramatic role / a horrid character, I’m used to him as JP from Fresh Meat!

I was trying to remember which other recent show was based in a massive London house, then an advert for The Girlfriend came on and I thought “yes, that’s it!”

RedRec · 17/11/2025 20:31

I watched the first two episodes and found it (visually) so dark I had to turn up the brightness on my tv.
It was a bit of a slow burn for me and I haven't mustered up the enthusiasm to watch the third yet.
But very pleased to see David Duchovny still extremely attractive, with the body of a man half his age.
And pleasantly surprised to see that Jack Whitehall has hidden depths.

cramptramp · 17/11/2025 20:33

I put this on without reading what it was about and thought it’d be funny. It’s not but I’m really enjoying it and think that Jack Whitehall is good as a baddie.

Indigovelvet · 17/11/2025 21:43

Finished it. Good quality drama - I was hooked. Recommend.

TheBeautifulMoors · 17/11/2025 21:47

I can’t warch anything with JW in. I don’t know why, I’ve tried. Seems I’ll be missing out on tv gold.

ArMuinNaMuice · 17/11/2025 23:36

@TheBeautifulMoors JW as you have never seen him is what's in this series, honestly. Im a bit iffy about some of his other roles but its the overall mix of characters and actors with a quirky storyline added in makes this work. If you like thrillers involving mind games you'll like this.
PS I'm not getting commission from JW.

He's the same age as my df , bloody hell he's looking great

AgapanthusPink · 18/11/2025 23:14

Yes really enjoyed this. Really impressed with Jack Whitehall. He played menacing superbly. He was on Graham Norton the other week plugging this and he was totally as he usually is. I thought he was playing a bit part in it as the affable nanny/tutor.

Grenko · 20/11/2025 18:13

Am I the only one who thinks JW can’t act for toffee? I’m finding it entertaining but the dialogue is extremely cringey. It all a bit on the nose. Watching it nonetheless

VikaOlson · 20/11/2025 18:15

I enjoyed it but thought it was total trash 😂

I thought he was well into his 70’s! I thought he looked really knackered but I didn’t think he was in the slightest bit attractive when he was young.

He's a good looking fella , not for everyone I suppose but I adored him in the 90s

Hapagirl48 · 21/11/2025 15:00

I just finished episode 3 and not loving the animal cruelty to be honest. I'm worried for the snake now.
