Will Young to win Pop Idol
Mike not being the rapist in Brookside, when they found his shirt button in the club I felt physically sick.

Zammo's overdose.

Yes I am ancient.

The Louise Woodward trial on Sky News. I think I was a student or post-grad at the time and had all Summer off and watched every minute of it.

Daytimetellyqueen · 15/11/2025 15:27

When Pam & Bobby split up in Dallas was the first time I remember crying at a TV show (I must have been about 8 or 9 & was heartbroken!) & the drama of Who Shot JR?!!

Also agree re Nasty Nick & Pop Idol (but I wanted Gareth Gates to win!)

I also love how Celebrity Traitors has brought a little bit of that back & gave me that kind of moment with my own teenagers!

I used to love Family Affairs but must have stopped watching at some point because don’t remember this! I’ve looked everywhere to find reruns but there’s nothing.

Edited

I found this, it's two scenes stitched together, the gas explosion and then the scene at the church, the last second of the video being the coffins.

When Bobbie and her husband - whose name I now can’t even remember - broke up in Home and Away! They were in a wood and kind of turned away from each other walking off in opposite directions before the closing credits, I actually went to my bedroom and cried! I was about 9. I didn’t even know that could happen for grown ups.

Greg!

The first series of Big Brother, the Nasty Nick revelations. Seems daft thinking about it now, but my goodness, I was hooked!!

Same, i was 18 and started uni just after it finished. Everyone' opening conversation related to Big Brother.

The 456.

Donna and Josh in the west wing.

Toadie and Dee in neighbours.

Apparently a character called phill simmonds ? Can’t remember him at all

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 15/11/2025 20:47

The scene in Dallas where Bobby was in the shower and the producers tried to convince us that the last however many episodes had been a dream.

HelloHelloHelloHowLow · 15/11/2025 15:02

Relate to a lot of these but also the wedding of Scott and Charlene on Neighbours when I was about 9 or 10!

Oh yes, this too! Angry Anderson “Suddenly”!

Thank you - just googled & it’s all come back to me now!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 15/11/2025 21:07

@Daytimetellyqueen- I was also upset when Bobby and Pam split up and man did I detest Jenna Wade and Katherine Wentworth for keeping them apart - these things really matter when you’re 12!!

Titan sub disappearance with pieces being found after days

Oh my God, yes, this. We were on holiday in Sorrento and I was glued to the TV of an evening. Watched all the documentaries since then.

Paul2023 · 15/11/2025 21:27

Only fools and horses final trilogy in 1996. We didn’t watch many things as a family and it was rare my grandparents stayed over at our house. They didn’t live locally to us . But they stayed over for one of the episodes.I was a teenager.

We were all sat around watching the Batman and Robin one laughing!

Years later my parents have divorced and I’ve lost those grandparents.

But it takes me back to more simple and happy times.

So true!

Your username was also pretty iconic times in the BB house! Loved that series with chicken Stu!

EnchantingDecoration · 15/11/2025 21:43

I agree Celeb Traitors has been the thing I’ve been most invested in for a while, so many people talking about it and everyone watching the final live and coming into work the next day to talk about it. Doesn’t happen much now with streaming.

Paul2023 · 15/11/2025 21:46

Big Brother first series had a big following! 25 years ago.

Eyesopenwideawake · 15/11/2025 21:48

"You're not my mother!" on Eastenders. I was watching it with my birth mother only a few months after I'd found her so it was an emotion laden scene!

I was just thinking the same! They were the good old days of big brother.

I went though a range of emotions connected to my past when I was watching classic soaps. It really brings things up doesn’t it.

They really were @breezyyy although I do still enjoy it (& was on the BB thread but have recently name changed!)

HonoriaBulstrode · 15/11/2025 22:03

Very old one, Mike and Deirdre's affair in Corrie

The night she went back to Ken was the night of the Manchester derby and they flashed it up on the screen! (pre mobile phones)

It was one of the soap stories everyone was talking about at the time.

I recall everyone had worked out who shot JR by the time we actually saw it.

East Enders once did a story about attacks on women, but it was the biggest let down in the end because it turned out to be a character we'd never seen or heard of - they just said some bloke from the market had been arrested - after all the speculation.

The soap’s cliffhangers becoming part of the news stories was wild. Deirdre being locked up!
