Caroline Flack documentary

Is anyone watching the new Caroline Flack documentary on Disney plus.

Her mother is trying to stand up for her. Its very sad. And interesting . Her mother looked up a lot of information about the assualt case.

It was a night where both of them were very drunk. Caroline found texts from another woman on her partner's phone. She hit him with the phone on his head to wake him up. She shouldn't have done that.

I am just recounting the facts of what happened

Caroline's partner threatened to ring the police. He rang the police and said he wasn't sure what he had been hit with, maybe a lamp or something. (He later agreed that it was a phone).

After he rang the police, Caroline was so distraught that she cut her wrists.

Her mother said that media reported that the room looked like a horror movie. But they made it seem like the blood was her partners. The blood was Carolines.

Her partner was not injured. And he did not want to press charges.

In the documentary it shows that the police initiallly decided not to press charges on Caroline.
Due to
Her having no previous history of violence
Her partner was not injured
Her partner did not want to press charges.

They decided to give Caroline a caution.

However a Detective came on duty later that night and decided to overturn the decision. She decided to charge Caroline with assault.

The documentary also shows notes the police made. They refer a lot to Caroline as a celebrity and a high profile case. Her mother thinks Caroline was charged unfairly as the police had attention on them over this case.

It then shows Carolines texts to friends . She writes "I have lost it all. I don't see any way out".

Its very sad. Has anyone watched it

Christine also said that her other daughter found Caroline dead- this is not true. It was a friend who is no longer in contact with Christine. I think it’s a whole sorry sordid mess but I don’t think this documentary has done Caroline’s family favours. Her own twin sister admitted she believed what the headlines were and had n’t spoken to Caroline about it much. It’s like Caroline’s friends were left to support her but where were her family?

I’m sure I read that she wasn’t in contact with her sister at the time of her death. Some kind of falling out. Not sure if it meant the twin sister or the older sister. Or even if it was true at all.

They seemed like a nice family. But I do feel like the mother needs to just make her peace with it and move on. I think Caroline died due to her fragile mental health and the pile on by the press. But I do feel she brought it on herself. It was an assault and it wouldn’t be minimised if it was male on female assault.

I remember the harry styles thing vaguely, it wasn’t something I was very interested in. But seeing that she was 32 and he was 17 is really quite shocking. And it sounds like she had other young boyfriends? There’s a big power imbalance there.

Andrew Brady is a fine one to talk.

Wasn't he in jail for harassing someone

No idea. They all sound as bad as each other. Drink-fuelled punch-ups. I was just mentioning what he had said

I was making a point about you and an ex partner smashing each others personal possessions

A push is an assault. I have pushed people and they have pushed me.

Well maybe don’t push people and don’t be around people who push you

Didn't we go into lockdown a month or two later?
I can't help but think the whole caroline flack news story would have faded away and maybe just maybe things would have been different for her

Of course it would have faded. These things always do.

She may well have been cleared or the charge dropped.

Yes the media went to town but she'd been in the industry a long time and was a 40 year old woman with some perspective rather than an 18 year old unable to rationalise.

She'd probably be making documentaries about bi polar disorder by now.

It's very sad but I think it's about a little more than media coverage. She obviously has extreme reactions to many things.

I got pushed out of the way in the street last week.

I got pushed in a queue in Tesco last week

Yes you wrote

It is now classed as domestic abuse if it happened in front of children?

And I replied " we didn't have children"

She didn’t overrule it. She referred it for appeal. Which was entirely appropriate and routine.

So she didn't over rule it which is what the OP said. Absolutely right in my opinion to charge someone with assault when they assault someone.

She was 32 and Styles was 17. I was genuinely shocked when the outpouring of support happened after her death, I know what we'd call a man who did the same and noone would be rushing to say 'be kind', quite rightly.

I agree. I am sorry but I did not like her at all. I dont think she was a very nice person.

That does not mean I dont think her death was tragic or that she needed help for her mental health and it is very sad she didnt get that help.

I also dont like her mother implying that her friend shouldn't have left her alone- I think that was an awful thing to say. Her friends loved her and could not practically be with her 24/7. It is vile to put the blame for a person's suicide on someone else.

kittensinthekitchen · 13/11/2025 16:33

Finto1111 · 13/11/2025 15:57

If I was charged with assault I would also think my life is over.

I work with young people. I would never be allowed to work with them again

Yes it would be my fault.

But you can see why people think there is no way out and commit suicide.

Then the trick is not to assault someone.

Not to assault them the escape without charge.

You got lucky the times you've done it

Did her partner not make 999 call to police saying she had tried to kill him? That's what I recollect.

A woman who made that call would find the man removed from the house, forbidden to return, and in court for assault whether she changed her mind or not.

If you reverse the sexes in everything you hear about this case it's pretty clear that it was correct to charge her. And tragic that she was not mentally strong enough to cope with the result.

LoftyAmberLion · 13/11/2025 16:34

I think she threw the phone in a rage but never intended to assault him. And that she was probably at the end of her tether with whatever he had been doing with other women. It happens all the time - men behave badly and when the gf/wife finally snap they are labelled the abusive one. It is so sad for her but also sadly quite common.

Referring it to appeal is over ruling the decision.

She doesn't have to do that.

Caroline Flack's case was the first time this partivular Detective had EVER questioned a CPS decision

No it isn’t.

It’s asking the same authority that declined to charge, to look again.

It’s perfectly normal and happens a lot.

There could be all manner of reasons why she hadn’t referred a case before. It doesn’t mean the decision to do so in itself was wrong.

It didnt occur to me to charge her with assault

@user5883920very unfair of the mum to insinuate her friend shouldn’t have left her alone. If someone wants to find a way to be alone to do that, they will. I’m friends with one of the paramedics who attended when she was found dead, and from what she said, CF had basically shoved her friend out of the door and locked it behind her so that she could be alone… she was determined to do it. No one’s fault and ultimately her own decision. The friend was hysterical and knew already why CF had locked them out… the ambulance crew and police were there within minutes but it was already too late.

But did they mention Harry Styles was 17 & she was 31? Bit grim that.

I wonder is there a statistic somewhere of how mamy CPS decisions are referred for appeal

You couldn’t have charged her with assault. It is not your decision to make.
Pushing people just because you have been pushed other times does not make pushing ok. Am I living in a parallel world world here where people think pushing others is ok?

IAmKerplunk · 13/11/2025 16:44

Throwing a phone at somebody’s head whilst they are asleep hard enough to break the skin is never ok. Caroline was deeply troubled and seemingly had little family around her in her final days.

In an ideal world yes but for whatever reason they often don’t.
