Caroline Flack documentary

Is anyone watching the new Caroline Flack documentary on Disney plus.

Her mother is trying to stand up for her. Its very sad. And interesting . Her mother looked up a lot of information about the assualt case.

It was a night where both of them were very drunk. Caroline found texts from another woman on her partner's phone. She hit him with the phone on his head to wake him up. She shouldn't have done that.

I am just recounting the facts of what happened

Caroline's partner threatened to ring the police. He rang the police and said he wasn't sure what he had been hit with, maybe a lamp or something. (He later agreed that it was a phone).

After he rang the police, Caroline was so distraught that she cut her wrists.

Her mother said that media reported that the room looked like a horror movie. But they made it seem like the blood was her partners. The blood was Carolines.

Her partner was not injured. And he did not want to press charges.

In the documentary it shows that the police initiallly decided not to press charges on Caroline.
Due to
Her having no previous history of violence
Her partner was not injured
Her partner did not want to press charges.

They decided to give Caroline a caution.

However a Detective came on duty later that night and decided to overturn the decision. She decided to charge Caroline with assault.

The documentary also shows notes the police made. They refer a lot to Caroline as a celebrity and a high profile case. Her mother thinks Caroline was charged unfairly as the police had attention on them over this case.

It then shows Carolines texts to friends . She writes "I have lost it all. I don't see any way out".

Its very sad. Has anyone watched it

Why did she date harry styles, 15? Years her junior. Andrew was 11 years her junior. Lewis was 15 years her junior. The only people I know who consistently date much younger partners are domestic abusers.

What?

I know loads of men who have wives 10 -15 years younger than them

@ididntexpectthat the press may have been more circumspect if Caroline had self harmed or attempted suicide in different circumstances. Not immediately following assault. She would not have faced trial or photos been published of the bloody after effects of self harm.

She couldn’t face trial and allegations of abuse.

So if in your opinion she assaulted him, why do you think she shouldn’t have been charged?

First offence and he didnt want her to be charged.

Before anyone says that his opinion doesnt matter, the CPS did initially take his opinion into account, when they intially decided not to charge her.

I also mean why did the public give Caroline much more of a hard time than they gave Cheryl.

Cheryl was forgiven for assault. She went on to be the nation's darling

People were seriously attacking and trolling Caroline Flack online about the assault. Calling her a domestic abuser, evil etc

Not comparing like for like there. Cheryl's case was reported but there wasn't so much social media at the time, so might not have had so much attention. Also, time elapsed plays a part here. Cheryl had to clean up her pr, and then she landed the job on x factor. If enough time had passed, who knows what the public would have thought of Caroline?

Yes she may have had a comeback

I haven’t watched the documentary, and do not plan to.

The original case: the part that resonated with me was that after he had contacted the police, she harmed herself. My abusive ex used to do this. Whenever he went ‘too far’ with me, he would then somehow hurt himself. It was as though that nullified what he had done to me. ‘Yes, I’ve hurt you, but look what I’ve done to myself’, Sort of thing.

I think she was abusive. I doubt it was the first time as well.

Isn't that a common tactic of abusers? Thanks for highlighting this, I completely missed that.

BillieWiper · 13/11/2025 15:57

I think she had quite bad drink and coke dependance. I feel really bad for her family but I can't help thinking this documentary is not really going to help. The police won't admit any wrongdoing. None of her friends wanted to be part of it as they thought it was too much dragging it all back into the open.

Finto1111 · 13/11/2025 15:57

If I was charged with assault I would also think my life is over.

I work with young people. I would never be allowed to work with them again

Yes it would be my fault.

But you can see why people think there is no way out and commit suicide.

So then don’t commit assault,

It’s quite easy not to.

I don't think I ever would.

I am not perfect.

I was in quite a volatile relationship once.

He threw my Laptop on the floor and smashed it. I threw his phone on the floor and smashed it.

That is bad behaviour. None of us are perfect and many people lose their tempers.

I would never go so far as to hit someone though. Thank god i have that sense.

Then don’t assault anyone. If you think you have that in your personality to do it then get help.
It hurts physically, emotionally when the person closest to you assaults you. And you feel bad for them and you want to protect them. It affects all your future relationships and you ask yourself what did you do wrong. But nothing, nothing excuses assaulting someone especially when they are asleep and you are not in any danger.

You know that behaviour you just described in your previous relationship is now classed as domestic abuse if it happened in front of children?

What she was truly terrified of was the police body worn camera footage being shown in court. I’m assuming she turned into someone quite different when under the influence of whatever her poison of choice was. Her public persona was carefully crafted. I think in private she was quite different. Having said that, I always thought (not that I watched much that she presented apart from the car crash of a stunt on X Factor) she didn’t look comfortable. She found it difficult to meet anyone’s eye. She wasn’t suited to that much public exposure.

I wonder was she on drugs that night too.

I work with teenagers. One of the teenagers very randomly got punched in the face on the street.

It was unprovoked. The man just walked up and punched him. We were all shocked, especially as he did it right in front of a camera.

The police found him later and he was on drugs. Didnt even remember doing it. Drugs are scary.

The police do NOT decide to prosecute
The CPS do based ion evidence and the probability of a conviction

I’ve no idea if she took drugs. As I said upthread; if you’re coming home at 5.30am it’s unlikely you’ve only been drinking. Has anyone mentioned that her ex said getting out of his relationship with her probably saved his life? You can google. Andrew Brady

Lots of victims of domestic violence don’t want their abusers to be charged though but it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be. Yes, Caroline was vulnerable in that she had mental health difficulties but that doesn’t give her a free pass to physically hurt other people. Actions have consequences and they absolutely should do in cases like this.

Maybe due to being a public figure they wanted to make an example out of her.

If she was let go someone somewhere would be whining that women can assault their partners and get away with it.

But ultimately it is for the Crown prosecution service to decide whether to prosecute not the police. The case will only go to court if there is enough evidence you suggest the person will be found guilty. It's not as simple as a single detective deciding to make an example of a celebrity

Wasn't he in jail for harassing someone

Didn't we go into lockdown a month or two later?
I can't help but think the whole caroline flack news story would have faded away and maybe just maybe things would have been different for her
