Motsi and Shirley doing that “WOOOAAAHH” thing before giving a 10 has to be the most egomaniacal thing yet.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 10/11/2025 14:18

I keep expecting “woaahhhh 9”

xsquared · 10/11/2025 14:32

They were giving 10s out like Smarties in my opinion. Yes, the "Whooooaaa .... 10" is irritating.

These days a ten only means something if it comes from Craig's paddle.

I think I know what means though. Amber has a sort of ‘Oh, I need to write this down, so I’ll remember’ vibe, when everyone knows that musical theatre is her job and she must learn routines all the time. It just doesn’t feel genuine and try too hard.

I'm not sure why this makes her fake. Some of the pros do write things down to plan their choreography. Case in point, Lewis has an Insta story right now showing a paper bag with Katya's notes on their dance.

I don't find Amber fake. Being one of the best dancers remaining doesn't mean you'll be top of the leaderboard and avoid the dance off. She is under pressure to please both judges and audience, and having been in the dance off before, she knows it can happen again.

I have also seen Lewis called cocky in here, but again, I don't see it. As competitive individuals, he and Katya obviously work incredibly hard at perfecting every detail of their routines, so he must be elated to see their efforts rewarded.

I've been on YouTube to have a look at his Ruff Diamonds video, and he is utterly mesmerising to watch even as a teenager.

Both Motsi and Shirley annoy me. I wish they were leaving rather than Tess and Claudia.

TessTickle0 · 10/11/2025 16:11

Shirley never used to annoy me..all that talking down to the audience when they start to make any sounds of disagreement, and actually more so when they haven't.
All that "wait a minute, wait a minute, you might learn something" really really annoys me.

Yes, they are very annoying.

Otterdrunk · 10/11/2025 17:07

Amber’s personality hasn't won her to the audience. I think despite being a trained dancer /west end performer she’s just an anxious, perfectionist person who wants to get everything right & panics over everything. I think she writes stuff down b’cos that’s how she learns. I do think she genuinely is pleased if she gets a high mark & is the kind of person at say exam results day would still believe she’d failed despite being an A star student type of thing. Thats my impression. Lewis does does seem the opposite - I think they’re all perfectionists but some are more anxious than others. I think it’s quite funny Lewis doesn’t grovel to the judges. I think he knows none of them could dance like him but don’t find him cocky.

Doggielovecharlotte · 10/11/2025 17:14

I’m soooooom glad Tess is going!!! Quite prepared to sacrifice Claudia for it

don’t mind Motsi and Shirley!

it feels like anton is trying to do a Bruno lately

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 10/11/2025 18:56

Fleur did a short tribute to Quentin Wilson at the start of It Takes 2 tonight (for those who asked why he wasn't mentioned on Saturday).

IWatchStrictly · 10/11/2025 20:24

Some people do learn better if they see things written down rather than only being told them: I am one of them. Hear/see it, then write it down. That’s how I remember.

In local amateur musicals I work with quite a few people who have performed professionally. It’s not only them, but they do take their performances extremely seriously and practice over and over until they get things right, then run through the dances again before each performance usually with whoever would like join them if they are group numbers.

However good you are you have to prove yourself at every audition so it’s not surprising some are worried about doing it right all the time.

I know we’re a few weeks in now but I still cut Amber a bit of slack because of joining at the last minute.

This has made me really cross.. no way could anyone have thought Lavoix was better than Harry in that, surely?

No, Harry was much better

ilovesooty · 11/11/2025 00:05

What a lovely gracious drama free exit from Harry.

BritHoward · 11/11/2025 05:59

I have no issue with Amber - she met the requirements for the competition- unless posters are suggesting she hid some of her experience from the producers and in that case she should be disqualified. Otherwise she’s lovely to watch.
La Voix danced like he had a poker up his arse, flat footed with no grace and Harry whilst not perfect was dancing the Samba and doing a pretty good job of it, It’s a real shame Harry had to be sacraficed to keep LaVoix on the show. It was a shameful decision by the judges.

nomdegrrr1 · 11/11/2025 08:48

I was re-watching Balvinder and Julian's CC for the sheer joy in Julian, and I thought that I couldn't imagine Anton dancing that in his time as a pro dancer. I'm sure that he could but I just couldn't see it.

ilovesooty · 11/11/2025 08:53

I hope both Balvinder and Julian will have their confidence boosted by that dance.

Is the subtext that La Voix is a required ingredient for Blackpool owing to its reputation as a camp capital of the North so it was manipulated?

If so, what if it hadn't been Harry, but George, Lewis or Amber?

mixedpeel · 11/11/2025 09:09

While I don’t particularly enjoy Amber’s performances, finding her moves tend to be a bit too ‘placed’ rather than embodying the soul of the dance, I think it’s unfair to describe her as ‘fake’.

As pp have said, writing things down is a perfectly normal technique that many people find helpful. If anything she is demonstrating rather than hiding her past dance experience, because this is likely to be how she’s always done things. Neither is she faking her nerves - she’s clearly just one of those people who are perfectionists and always going to be desperate to get things ‘right’ and not mess up. In a way there is even more pressure on someone who is skilled in one particular aspect of a discipline putting themselves out there in public trying to learn a different version. Usain Bolt was a fantastic athlete in the sprints, and could probably have been better than most of us if he had a go at hurdles, but unlikely to be as good as the specialists.

It would probably have been the first ever Bhangra dance done in full top coat and tails 😆.

I think there is more popular couples, so they are missing out on votes which is a real shame I really like her.

LaVoix was stiff and unpleasant to watch, but the judges were gushing - I don't understand their decision, Harry gave a better performance. I don't know much about Blackpool either- never been.

ChessieFL · 11/11/2025 10:40

The fuss about Blackpool annoys me. I get that for the cast and crew it’s nice to go there, but for the viewers at home it really doesn’t make much difference - we’re just watching them do the same thing in a slightly different-looking place. And the VTs will feature someone eating chips and someone on a rollercoaster (possibly together). I really don’t get why they expect the TV viewers to care that they’re in Blackpool instead of Elstree.

Coffeeishot · 11/11/2025 10:52

I think Blackpool is the" home of Ballroom "that is why it is the aim Blackpool week is great fun. I remember they did Wembley one year and it was meh, I am glad they went back to Blackpool l

I used to wheelchair dance and was in a team and did couples when I was younger and we competed in the Tower Ballroom it is very special and the floor is incredible.
