Anyone watching? I couldn’t see another thread - apols if I missed one. As usual, I haven’t heard of several of the 'celebs'.

OP posts:

Just heard Molly and Tyler got engaged, gorgeous video on Instagram of Tyler proposing ❤️

I saw that - so lovely! Especially after she pretended to go down on one knee to him on the programme 🤣
I saw him interviewed and he said after doing the programme and all (literally everything!) they shared he couldn’t imagine not being with her. Such a gorgeous couple

I think Dylan and Jackie had just got tired of the demands of the race really. They did seem to find it more challenging than some of the others. They might have had enough money to make it to the end seeing as another team only had £17 left but their heart wasn't in it. I expect they just wanted to finish with a bit of relaxing time together before heading home.
The production team are not going to just leave them there, especially that end destination which is a slightly dodgy part of Columbia. RATW is carefully edited and there's always a safety net so it's not full on independent backpacking but they all did well, I think.

Oh 100% agree the production crew aren’t going to leave anyone stranded. Especially somewhere where it’s too dangerous to travel via road at night. Can you imagine the headlines “star of Derry girls and mum is kidnapped in Central America due to tv show”

And also there has to be a safety net for flights because whilst there’s a ball park there’s no guarantee on what day they will finish

Garamousalata · 13/12/2025 09:41

I’m so happy for Molly and Tyler, what a gorgeous couple. Their babies, should they choose to have them, will be utterly beautiful.

EsmeArcher · 13/12/2025 09:47

I enjoyed everything about this series. The couples were genuinely interesting and so likeable. There was a great balance between telling their back stories, which I personally found very interesting, and showcasing the countries and challenges. I may rewatch the whole lot!

IAmKerplunk · 12/12/2025 09:26

I thought it was a really good series. Roman and Harley are so different - it was wonderful to watch them find each other again.
Molly and Tyler - what a good advert they are for healthy relationships compared to a lot of celebrities their age. They have so much respect for each other. Molly is absolutely a power horse and Tyler is a son any mum would be proud of.
I was sad about Jackie and Dylan - especially as they still had money left but Jackie said she was tired and they had got to the last leg. Bless her she has been through a lot and I’m glad she did this.
I liked Anita and her dad - loved how he championed his daughter despite his culture preferring sons. I love progressive men (especially his generation and culture) like that - what an example.
Loved seeing South America too - what a vibrant friendly place!

Just watched the final & agree with all of this!

I really hope Tyler & Molly get amazing opportunities on TV after this - I’d watch anything they do!

I think I am going to too because I am sure I missed bits. Loved this series. Does anyone know when the ‘normal’ one is back on?

I’ve started re-watching series 1 - think I’m going to work my way through the whole lot again as I’ve forgotten pretty much every previous series (despite watching & loving it all!)

That’s a good idea. Would be interesting to see if the producers have changed much in how they edit it and what they show. The only 1 I remember not enjoying so much was Canada - the scenery was beautiful dont get me wrong and I would love to go there but if memory serves me correctly there were less options for transport - I will rewatch and see if I have remembered properly.

I wasn’t keen on the Canada season either - there wasn’t much to the race if I remember as no language barriers & Canadians were far too nice offering lifts! Although I do remember the black father & daughter experiencing some racism (where they didn’t get the offer of lifts or general help to the same extent as the white couples).

I’ve just watched S1e1 - it’s not as polished but otherwise seems similar with sharing back stories of the couples. I’ve forgotten who won & that one of the couples dropped out as the wife’s mum was terminally ill & so were substituted by an older couple.

That’s my Saturday evening viewing sorted! I remember the couple who had to leave but can’t remember who won either

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/12/2025 21:06

i saw a spoiler which was a shame
but the ending was still good with the four of them running together.
i remember i was a fan of Tyler on strictly.
sad for dylan and Jackie, i guess they would not have made it there with the money they had left but glad they had a good trip and saw plenty and became stronger

purpleme12 · 17/12/2025 17:13

I can't believe Dylan and Jackie pulled out of the race!

They had next to no money left though, so whilst I would have carried on until I had nothing, I don’t blame them for stopping when they did.

Umbilicat · 11/12/2025 20:28

I’ve loved it, I think it’s been my favourite Ita to date – probably because I like all the couples. I do think Dylan and Jackie were terrible contestants though

I really enjoyed watching Dylan and Jackie!

Nifty50something · 18/12/2025 20:06

I'm so, so envious of Anita Rani for having a dad like Bal. Absolutely lovely guy who treats her like gold and is really laid back and funny, too. We all deserve a dad like that!

CrushingOnRubies · 11/12/2025 20:37

That’s a dream I didn’t know I had. Walk rescue / stray dogs on a Caribbean beach

They were so loving as well though

purpleme12 · 18/12/2025 20:19

That was really really close

beautifully put, I agree with everything you say.

In a time when celebrity relationships often seem to be shallow, short lived and performative, and where in the media we’re constantly hearing about misogyny, coercive and toxic relationships, it was so refreshing to see Molly and Tyler. They came across as so respectful of each other and others, totally authentic, grounded and lots of fun. They’re great role models for young people.

Harley Moon and Roman…. Lovely to see them reconnecting, especially as it wasn’t coming from a place of any dramatic fall out, it just felt like their lives had gone in different directions and this journey gave them the time and space to really talk openly to each other. Watching them I felt they must have had a really loving, supportive upbringing which isn’t always the case with celebrity parents.

Bal and Anita - what a fantastic dad he is. Not pushy or outspoken but clearly had a dogged determination to stick to his true values, celebrating his daughter from the moment she was born, despite the cultural prejudice against daughters. He simply supported her to aim high and live her life in the way she wanted.

dylan and Jackie… I felt disappointed at first when they dropped out but actually they’d got what they needed to from the experience and the journey had clearly taken its toll on Jackie. I’m glad they won one leg of the race and were able to stop and relax when they felt they’d reached their limit.

Wonderful series.

IAmKerplunk · 19/12/2025 08:54

Harley did an interview recently and she expressed how she has a positive outlook on life and everyday she is excited to be alive. It must be hard when you have a sibling with mh issues - hard for her to see her brother struggling when she has such a different out look and hard for him too possibly wondering why he got the mh gremlins whilst his sister sees joy everywhere. Hard for their parents too. I really hope they remain close.

Newgirls · 19/12/2025 10:01

Agree with above - they were all so lovely!

I think the siblings seem like their parents - Martin kemp seems almost childlike positive and Shirley more serious. Genes landed that way in the kids

Yes - Shirley and Harley seem more pragmatic and just kind of ‘do it’ whereas Roman and Martin seem more introspective. Interesting how genes fall a certain way

purpleme12 · 19/12/2025 10:12

I read it that @Newgirls was saying Roman is like Shirley and Harley is like Martin

Totally agree with this & @IAmKerplunk! Loved it!

Argh! I wish I’d found this thread before - I just finished watching it. Really enjoyed it, though I was on team Anita and Bal. I liked them straight away and was struck by how Bal explained he and the family had never had much in the way of holidays as he was working so hard, lovely to see them experiencing all those amazing places. Both of them always looked so elegant, Anita beautiful and strong-minded.

The whole series made me want to visit Central America, not only the landscape and wildlife but the colourfully painted houses and Spanish architecture.

BBC switched me straight on to non- celeb series one, so now I’ve started watching that!
