Catching up v late and know we've moved on, really, but:
Ellie: terrific. Great character acting/performance. She was slightly less confident in the DO though, which might have sealed their fate. She and Vito handled their farewells so graciously. I've loved seeing another side to Vito this year; what a lovely person and truly gifted teacher he is. Agree with the comments about Craig never ever talking down to Ellie, and how quickly the judges were all up on their feet for her.
Balvinder: really felt for her. She's at the point of resigned laughter and it must be so hard to stay committed and motivated. I thought their dance was beautiful, fluid, expressive.
Michelle: meh. Poor choreo and she's danced better before. She kept not pointing her toes and it was obvious even to a lay person like me, but none of the judges mentioned it.
La Voix: didn't get it. Massively overmarked. Agreed with Craig not enough of an arched back or shaped arms, so it didn't feel like a paso.
Lewis: excellent. Yes, he's basically a pro, but it was so good and so entertaining. Nice too to see a CC that's not limp contempowaft or an embarrassing attempt at 'street'. Loved Katya being able to dance full out.
George: overmarked, mystifyingly so. Really didn't get it. He can do better and I like him, so I hope he comes back better next week.
Harry: terrible choreo, unusually for Karen who is usually a maestro. Sickly and cutesy feel. They dodged a bullet and Karen's face at a few points said she knows it. I like them both and I really want her to get a good result, so I hope they raise their game.
Alex: SO camp. Really enjoyed it.
Amber: didn't like it at all. Agreed with Shirley there was too much out of hold. VW that stick to the rules really don't have to be boring (remember Brendan and Kelly Brook's VW to 'Delilah'?)
Kaz: WOW. So stylish. So fierce. So deadly precise. Loved the chemistry, loved the feeling that it was a fight waiting to happen and the strong suggestion that they were two men. I usually subscribe to the idea that an AT should feel like you're looking through a keyhole, but this interpretation was just as convincing and probably historically accurate. My dance of the night by a country mile. And she's so charming, saying 'thank you for letting me do it' in the Clauditorium 💖
