And yes, David is the undeserving finalist this year. there’s always one - quirk of the game!

I think he provides an interesting dynamic as he’s tried (without much success!) to apply logic and reasoning to his decisions and it looks like it he will be the one who determines the outcome of the game (if Joe/Nick are onto Cat/Alan) - will anyone be able to convince him they are right?

Is that Taylor Swift or Jonathan Swift? The username is @CeliaFarts

If this is a real question, I read it as "You don't often get quick changes of username on MN" - you used to, until MN stopped the name change facility mid thread.
Maybe I'm completely wrong though! I'm old so very unlikely to get a Taylor Swift reference.
@CeliaFarts was very swift off the mark there!

Jonathan. His poem ‘The lady’s dressing room’ includes the line ‘Oh Celia, Celia shits!’ as he discovers that the beloved, idolised lady has dirty clothes and bodily functions, just like a mere mortal.

Oh and I’m Team Joe.

Does anyone know why the final was moved as it was supposed to be tonight?

Scheduling change after Prunella Scales died and they showed a tribute. Bit odd, I thought, as that could have gone on BBC2 (or move Traitors to BBC2), as I’m sure the crossover between the Venn diagram of Traitors viewers and people who want to watch the tribute is pretty small.

Don’t get me wrong, she was a wonderful actress and deserves her tribute.

Ah OK, Thanks.

Team Joe here too.

Has the final moved again? As Prunella Scales only died this week, and the final has been set for next Thursday a since shortly after ep.1 aired.

SoScarletItWas · 02/11/2025 08:31

@SmallAngryPenguinWoman oh I must be muddled then. I am sure I saw Claudia say how perfect it was that the final would be Hallowe’en.

I saw a news article that the final had been moved after her death but I can’t find it now. And you are correct; I can see that the change was announced before.

I wonder why they moved it from Hallowe’en then??

Most of the firework shows in England were on Friday night this year, which would have impacted on audience.

They didn’t project viewing figures would be worth bumping HIGNFY from its usual slot.

NaranjaDreams · 02/11/2025 08:50

Although there were rumours it was linked to Claudia not really “doing” Halloween, after her daughter’s burns. I can’t personally see how that’s relevant given it’s pre-filmed but I am also very sleep deprived so might be missing the link 😅

There was talk last week that it had been moved from the Friday, long before Prunella Scales died. I doubt that was the reason.

NaranjaDreams · 02/11/2025 09:37

It was announced that it wouldn’t be on Halloween on October 8th. Confirmed to be 6th November on the 16th. Prunella died on the 27th. It’s not linked at all.

PinkMagpie · 02/11/2025 09:44

Claudia does a Halloween special on Strictly every year so I don’t think she boycotts Halloween

For anyone who watched Uncloaked on Thursday night, did you hear Ed Gamble calling the Traitors' meeting the Conclave?
I never heard it called that before on the UK or US Traitors, but it is what it was called in Traitors Ireland (the fucking conclave 😉) - so just wondering if Ed picked it up from there or did I miss something and everyone calls it the conclave?

barskits · 02/11/2025 11:12

No, I've not heard it called a conclave.

Yes, I noticed that in Traitors Ireland, but had wondered if it had crept in from other overseas iterations of the show (I’ve only watched the UK and Irish ones)?

In the UK ones, mentions of the ‘turret’ seemed to be doing the same work as the term the ‘conclave’ — in the Irish version, of course, there was no turret because Slane Castle doesn’t have any. The traitors supposedly met in the dungeon (or a set that had been made to look like one.)

Traitors Ireland was filmed around the same time the papal conclave was on, so I assume it was to the forefront of some of their minds in particular (trying not to spoil anything).
Everyone on TI was calling it the conclave.

Edit: oh it was filmed in the castle dungeon, as I remember reading about them needing to re-home a colony of spiders before using it.

I did like Joe, but I think there is a bit of an edge to him, especially in how he views women.

I get that vibe from Nick not Joe. Interesting. Alan obviously exaggerates his persona for tv because he’s less performative as it’s gone on - he is very calculated. With Joe you get what you see. But he’s so massive that it could seem more threatening I suppose. I can imagine being that big and people reacting differently to you too.

Stephen and David I reckon thought they would ace it. That’s been the funniest. Joe is much more intelligent at reading people. That’s going to dent their pride in their intellect.

I’d genuinely be surprised if the Traitors producers were attuned enough to Vatican decision-making, or even the Ralph Fiennes film about a papal conclave, to decide to adopt the term and brief Siobhán MacSweeney to use it when she was talking about the traitors’ jiggery-pokery!

Claude never dresses in a costume on Halloween week. Tess doesn't either but I dont know whether that's producers wanting "symmetry" or Tess' choice out of solidarity.

😆🤣 not the producers. But I'd be pretty sure Paudi would be, and he was the first person who said it.

matresense · 02/11/2025 14:45

I didn’t totally get why cat threw Jonathan under the bus. There were 7 of them left and 3 were traitors, with a banishment and a murder to go. The 3 traitors wouldn’t have had to do that much to split the vote for Jonathan - Kate might have gone with David. Then they would have had 3 in the last 5. Obviously, not the finale that the producers would have chosen, but quite entertaining as a one off to watch the panic! Cat didn’t actually have to tell Joe that she was going with him and Celia; she could have said she had Jonathan or David in her sights and would watch them closely to the round table. And frankly it would not have mattered breaking her promise if they’d got away with it and banished David or Kate.

Tiswa · 02/11/2025 16:01

I think her reasoning was she went all in on the big dog theory for Stephen fry she couldn’t change it for JR

i think as well it took the heat of finding them

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 02/11/2025 16:08

I think the final will be so boring unless they throw in a seer curveball or something. No way are Joe and nick going to let cat or Alan in the final. So the only tension is whether David also wins.
