Compared to non-celebrity players in other seasons, he’s not remotely aggressive!
I’m rewatching the UK season with Amanda, Wilf and Alyssa as the original traitors, and both John the spa therapist (frequent raised-voice monologues, rising out of chair, hand held up to silence specific other people he doesn’t like) and even more so, Hannah the big, blonde comedian, are spectacularly aggressive as a regular thing.
Hannah in particular has an incredibly confrontational manner, regularly shouts either at individuals or in a general way (I’m FUCKING SICK OF THIS! Just vote me out! I’m not having this!’) and her whole demeanour down to her posture and expression is menacing. It’s pretty clear, rewatching, that people aren’t bringing up her name at round tables (despite some suspecting her) because they don’t want to invite her fury.
I’m unusually sensitively attuned to male aggression (for the usual sad childhood reasons), but I don’t get a problematic vibe at all from Joe.
I think Alan doesn’t his scrutiny because JM isn’t one to be deflected with humour, the way Celia was when she asked him outright if he was a traitor. Alan will make a joke, but Joe just keeps looking at him.
