I think those who sentimentalise about Perez forget that Ruth was never likeable from the start. Added to which she was over loaded with "issues".
I cant remember what had gone wrong in London, but back home there was her relationship to her father, her brother, stupidly taking up with an old flame.
But agree that in terms of crime solving the writers are making her even more of a walking disaster. Her general lack of empathy was there from the start. If you remember she wasn't that nice to Tosh.
So its like they aren't bothering with developing her character. Rude at work, and getting invovled with men who all know each other!
At the moment all the other characters are getting better story lines, and think a lot of the acting has been great.
But very much doubt that such an angry and hurt young women who had had her life destroyed by social workers^ would end up being cuddled by one.
But the real story now is Billy. Although he doesn't know it.
^ Wasn't there a recent series based on a very similar story line about a woman who had been separated from her sister, and the impact on both of them. Fairly recent. I do remember thinking how terrible it had been for both of them.
