Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

The actress playing Vicky is fine, but the writing for Vicky is poor - one-dimensional.

Oh god

Firstly, why tell us now? If it had been a surprise it might have actually be a nice one.

Secondly, much as I love Pat/Pam, Pam is 83. When Nigel knew Pat she would have been in her 50s, they are going to have to use a lot of soft focus.

The Daily Show Wow GIF by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

This is somehow the worst idea ever

Southeastdweller · 13/11/2025 22:17

I think they’re telling us now because it could be triggering for people with dementia or for people who’re caring for those with dementia - the Instagram post says his symptoms “intensify”. But what they’re not saying is what I’ve been predicting, which is Nigel dying. So seeing Pat will be part of his exit story (maybe) as he declines and that’s going to be upsetting for some viewers, but I could be barking up the wrong tree here.

I'm a lot more cynical South, I think they are doing it for the same reason they told us about Zoe and Max aeons in advance - look how clever we are with all these iconic returns. W have icon Pat back! but only as a memory because we stupidly killed her off. If someone is triggered by dementia symptoms they will already be avoiding the Nigel storyline.

Adooree · 13/11/2025 22:24

I know it's impossible but it would likely be Dot Cotton that he would see .

mumofoneAloneandwell · 13/11/2025 22:25

Did he and pat have a relationship? 😭

I wouldve been a kid when he was last on screen so dont remember

Yes - or Debbie? I don't remember him being friendly with Pat.

Why do the new producers bring people back for headlines and then forget about them

Cindy for example

Although I haven't minded having nigel back

Shellingbynight · 13/11/2025 22:33

It was the previous producer who brought back Cindy and Ian, the new producer obviously isn't as keen, he's Slater-obsessed.

Debbie or Clare would make a lot more sense as a Nigel hallucination as he mentioned them a lot since he returned but I guess they can't get the original actresses.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 13/11/2025 22:37

Yeah, cc brought her back and she has disappeared now, along with Sharon (who might be unwell irl according to twitter)

He also had the 6 idea to grab headlines that became a mess

Now this guy doesnt seem to have a coherent plan for the square either 😕

mumofoneAloneandwell · 14/11/2025 01:47

Fun fact

I am autistic, with low support needs, and was raised on tv, particularly eastenders

I used to think that taking the blame for a crime your 'famlay' committed was love 😭

So i'd randomly confess to my siblings misbehaviours and take the blame, for no reason at all other than to 'protect famlay' (Peggy Mitchell voice)

Anyway, that makes about as much sense as teddy taking the blame for his sons accidental killing of okie 🙄😄, despite him having previously accused okie of imprisoning him 🤷‍♀️🙄

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2025 04:39

Cindy had a year of big stories last year , but barely any this year apart from buying the Albert from Kathy. Once the anniversary ones in February had been and gone and Martin had been buried , it has been meandering a bit. Zoe isn’t that popular, but I have liked seeing Alfie and Kat back behind the Vic. With so many of them off for whatever reasons, it has been a bit disjointed. The drug story dragged on , at least that has moved on a bit , but we have all forgotten why it started in the first place by the end! Plus there is still some fall out to deal with. Joel apparently pleads not guilty next week , so that’ll send Vicki into more turmoil;(

Winterflowers6 · 14/11/2025 05:47

So reading about pat coming back for the dementia storyline in Dec.
I was just wondering if anyone knew why they killed her off in 2012.. seems odd ,as she was a big part of the cast and was central to a lot of stories

Eastie77Returns · 14/11/2025 08:05

Killing Pat and her earrings was one of the worst decisions in EE’s history (I’m assuming the actress did not want to leave). She was a true icon, central to the show and there was a lot of mileage left in her character. I think there’s a long running game where you work how every character on the square is somehow directly or tangentially related to her!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 13/11/2025 16:16

Everyone, what do we think this means?

Pat coming back from the dead?! I could only hope 😄😄

Pat Butcher aka the Grim Reaper, she came to get Peggy now she is here to get Nigel.

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2025 08:16

I don’t remember Nigel and Pat being close or friends , but maybe they were ?

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2025 08:18

I like the idea of Pat just coming to help people to the other side! She was good with Peggy.

Shellingbynight · 14/11/2025 08:30

I don't remember Nigel and Pat being close either, and he has not mentioned her so far.

Pam didn't want to leave, she just wanted a break. But the producer decided to kill her off, she was quite upset. It was a really bad decision.

Southeastdweller · 14/11/2025 08:39

I think the then executive producer - Brian Kirkwood - was thinking of the ratings when he decided to kill off an iconic character who had been in the show for 25 years, and her last episode did indeed get a high figure (10 million).

OP posts:
Shellingbynight · 14/11/2025 08:45

Kirkwood also oversaw the infamous baby swap.

He still writes episodes for EE, he's a good writer. But a rubbish producer!

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2025 09:11

I miss Pat , I liked her with Roy and Barry ( until Janine killed him off)
She was an icon
Did anyone catch play for today on 5 last night ? Anita Dobson and Tracy Ann Oberman looking fab ! Anita is still gorgeous!

Winterflowers6 · 14/11/2025 15:46

I'm currently watching old EE on U
Heather is about to get pregnant, and Dawn and Gary have just got together after everyone thinking Gary had killed himself.
The storylines are so much better on the old episodes,we have just had the Tony and Whitney storyline and Roxy and Sean .
Currently ( I feel )Joel has been carrying things and it's felt a bit flat since he's gone ..Zoe is just overkill on screen time now ..she needs a holiday..
Really sad Teddy is leaving,..such a shame I liked that family together.
Hopefully Sharon will come back for Christmas
And Ben is due back hopefully at Christmas, max and Linda at some point .
Hopefully it will improve and move away about from zoe

mumofoneAloneandwell · 14/11/2025 16:00

I have been pestering asking U when they are going to start showing classic eastenders from 1985 but have had nothing back 😭

NowNumber5 · 14/11/2025 16:18

I would love that @mumofoneAloneandwell

I have been working my way through it on Classics EE, but I only started when it was already around 2004 (I'm up to 2009 now 😂)
so I would love to watch from the beginning!
