Very suprised this is on bbc 2 and may mean Many won’t give it a try

The BBC has confirmed the release schedule for The Ridge, a brand new Scottish thriller starring Karen Pirie and The Bombing of Pan Am 103 actor Lauren Lyle, and there's not long to wait at all.

Starts Thur 9pm bbc 2

The plot follows a woman named Mia, whose career has gone up in flames and is struggling with addiction. She travels to New Zealand for her estranged sister's wedding, but once she gets there, she finds her sibling dead.

Of course, there's a mystery, and everyone in this community Mia has wandered into is hiding their own secrets. But the synopsis also teases that Mia will find herself attracted to her late sister's fiancé Ewan.

Will she be able to root out the truth, while resisting the temptation?

Lyle previously described the show, which actually filmed in New Zealand as well as Scotland, as "strange" and "gothic".

"Mia is such a fascinating character in a very weird world which is quite delicious to play," she said. "It feels like something very bad is going to play out… in a good way!"

Her co-star, New Zealand actor Jay Ryan, added: "This production [...] brilliantly weaves our cultures and folklore together in a tense and riveting series. This really is an ambitious work with characters that will leave you guessing at every turn."

BBC Scotland commissioning editor Gavin Smith called the show "an example of our ambition to look beyond borders to bring high end quality drama to audiences not just in Scotland but across the world. The Ridge has a first class international team bringing it to life which we are proud to be a part of."

Although watching the withdrawal symptoms was hard they seemed to be over and done with rather quickly. Surely it takes longer than a day or two?

She did make one remark about still going through withdrawal but it didn't seem to be having much impact on what she was able to do.

I will join you in watching tonight, Blondes, I forgot about it last night.

It's quite a thing in TV dramas that somebody has some terrible drug habit, but a few eps later it seems largely forgotten about, and Mia is no exception. Ridiculous melodrama at the Ridge, obviously Mia was crazy to go up there with him (especially after not letting anyone else know, like Libby, who she'd just had a bloody conversation with!), she couldn't be confident she could outsmart him, he could have pushed her over way before the cup of tea. And having been witnessed by a police officer commit murder, Mia just waltzes away into the sunshine?

I suppose the moral is, they fuck you up, your Mum and Dad.

Both Mia and Ewan were quite disturbing characters

I didn't like how the hospital person didn't believe Riz

moto748e · 05/12/2025 22:41

It almost seemed like a nod to current events, poor Riz was so naive about the Board keeping it under wraps! Mia used him like she used everyone else.

‘Quite disturbing’ is a bit of an understatement!
and it wasn't that the hospital admin person didn’t believe Riz. It was that she didn’t want to deal with the scandal of having had a serial killer doctor on their staff.

I felt a bit disappointed in this in the end. It tipped over into a bit ludicrous. And the tone was a bit all over the place.

Finally seen so avoided thread till now

thank god celeb is over I get 90m back a day of other tv 😂

so behind

so mai was kinda like a female Dexter

she kills bad people

I liked the ending / the fact she got away with it - the hospital didn’t want to do anything and happy ending for Sadie moving out

just poor Libby really. She lost her dh and best friend and daughter

and Mia drives off. Tho wonder how she feels they she had sex a few times with her sister murderer

all in all I really enjoyed this and
