Very suprised this is on bbc 2 and may mean Many won’t give it a try

The BBC has confirmed the release schedule for The Ridge, a brand new Scottish thriller starring Karen Pirie and The Bombing of Pan Am 103 actor Lauren Lyle, and there's not long to wait at all.

Starts Thur 9pm bbc 2

The plot follows a woman named Mia, whose career has gone up in flames and is struggling with addiction. She travels to New Zealand for her estranged sister's wedding, but once she gets there, she finds her sibling dead.

Of course, there's a mystery, and everyone in this community Mia has wandered into is hiding their own secrets. But the synopsis also teases that Mia will find herself attracted to her late sister's fiancé Ewan.

Will she be able to root out the truth, while resisting the temptation?

Lyle previously described the show, which actually filmed in New Zealand as well as Scotland, as "strange" and "gothic".

"Mia is such a fascinating character in a very weird world which is quite delicious to play," she said. "It feels like something very bad is going to play out… in a good way!"

Her co-star, New Zealand actor Jay Ryan, added: "This production [...] brilliantly weaves our cultures and folklore together in a tense and riveting series. This really is an ambitious work with characters that will leave you guessing at every turn."

BBC Scotland commissioning editor Gavin Smith called the show "an example of our ambition to look beyond borders to bring high end quality drama to audiences not just in Scotland but across the world. The Ridge has a first class international team bringing it to life which we are proud to be a part of."

Forgot about this!

Wasn't too bothered after the first but just watched the next two & thought it was OK.

Only just watched ep #5. Well that certainly ups the ante! Mia is pretty scary. She walks like a zombie, and that weird gaping open mouth...

I’m enjoying it, but it’s really quite odd isn’t it.

purpleme12 · 30/11/2025 22:02

Bloody hell that bit with him and his mum

Really really creepy

purpleme12 · 30/11/2025 22:28

Why the fuck would you go in that cage with the wolf knowing what it's done!

And why is the wolf there in the first place
Has he got the wolf to kill people?! Because the wolf clearly didn't eat the Hera and Cassie.
But then he said that Cassie rescued the wolf.
I just don't get the whole wolf thing. I mean I don't think he'd planned the wolf eating his mum in advance

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 17:23

There was a back story with the wolf. Can’t rem what

but wow to take his mum there

so do we take it that he killed both woman and now his mum as she knew he has killed the first one

he’s a rapist due to last week

wasnt sure if hand writing matched / but she still slept with him

moto748e · 01/12/2025 17:25

The hand-writing didn't match.

deeahgwitch · 01/12/2025 17:28

I gave up a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately I read a synopsis that had the ending in it and I wasn’t interested enough to continue watching it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 18:13

moto748e · 01/12/2025 17:25

The hand-writing didn't match.

Ah thanks. So he didn’t kill her?

Tho mum thinks he did and obv Ewan is guilty of something as killed mum

tho guess now both Mia and Ewan have that in common. Mum killers

I think he killed Hera yes

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 19:01

thing he killed Hera who wrote the letter

OP posts:
diddl · 01/12/2025 19:03

Didn't Cassie rescue the wolf with the intention of transporting it elsewhere?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 19:01

But not fiance /mias sister

thing he killed Hera who wrote the letter

I'm pretty sure he killed them both

diddl · 01/12/2025 19:03

Didn't Cassie rescue the wolf with the intention of transporting it elsewhere?

Maybe

Think the whole wolf part of the story doesn't make a lot of sense though

diddl · 01/12/2025 19:11

I guess the wolf was a useful plot device to kill his mum rather than pushing her off "The Ridge".

So if he was capable of that I'm guessing he killed both Hera & Cassie because they pissed him off in some way?

He

purpleme12 · 01/12/2025 19:17

Yes must be a plot device

Yes I believe he killed them both

diddl · 01/12/2025 19:31

Will Mia be next?

Bohemond23 · 01/12/2025 19:51

The wolf relates to the rewilding background story. Reintroduction of wolves to remote territories.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 19:53

diddl · 01/12/2025 19:31

Will Mia be next?

He seems to like her more than his fiance

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2025 19:53

Maybe.

But if he realises that she knows/suspects he killed Cassie?

Maybe they'll have an argument/fight and both fall off the Ridge?

Bohemond23 · 02/12/2025 12:00

Just watched the end. Although I found Mia entirely annoying to watch I think the story and the end were well plotted and nicely fitted together. Although, as with all Antipodean telly programmes (apart from After the Party), I was never sure if it was supposed to be serious or a tongue in cheek comedy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2025 17:48

We still have one more to go. Thur is last episode
