Watching on catch up. Always felt a bit conflicted with her, she seems nice enough now but I’ve seen a lot of videos of her behaving utterly horribly in Geordie Shore. Really nasty, bullying behaviour. I know she was a lot younger but can people really change that much? Just saw her angry face when she got criticised on Strictly and thought hmm she’s still got that side to her.

Amazes me how some people can totally excel in their careers after behaving appallingly (Peter Andre is another) whereas others get cancelled forever.

God forbid we big up an amazingly successful and talented woman of colour on Mumsnet I guess

God forbid someone hasn’t heard of a celebrity you happen to like.

Your sneery reply to a pp got the response it deserved.

Namechangedforthis25 · 11/10/2025 23:21

I think she is very likeable

she was god awful in geordie shore but that was almost 15 years ago. Since then she has been very self aware of her previous horrible behaviour and expressed shame and remorse and acknowledged she was a sheltered young self-centred idiot

she has been focusing on garnering support for various women’s health initiatives, got married, and generally seems like a warm and kind person. She also won a celeb jingle series a few years ago so was clearly likeable even then

people can change!! I know I’ve matured since the annoying 18 year old I once was

ThatLadyLady · 11/10/2025 23:22

People can change.

i think it’s very unfair to hold it against her when everything points to her changing. A lot of that 2005-2015 tv seemed to rely a lot upon drug and alcohol abuse to get good tv. See also Spencer Matthews.

I’m not sure that people have forgotten her past, more that they didn’t know about it. I’ve never seen Geordie Shore so am only really vaguely aware of her as an influencer/reality TV circuit type person. A lot of people just won’t be aware of her behaviour when younger.

Maybe not the general public but the producers of shows such as Strictly and her radio show will. I always remember her doing a slot on This Morning for best afternoon tea items from M&S (or something along those lines) and thinking how the hell has she got this gig!

I suppose things like I’m a celeb boosted her ‘new’ persona and she’s built off that. I don’t blame her for it and hope she’s really changed but it shows how fickle celeb culture can be.

Yes VP does gurn, but Tess could give her a masterclass on gurning !

MinnieCauldwell · 12/10/2025 00:01

I watched GS once, felt I needed a shower after. Really unpleasant

AngelofIslington · 12/10/2025 00:27

She was truly vile in Geordie Shore, I’m amazed that she’s on a prime time bbc programme.
It doesn’t even sit well with me when it’s mentioned she was young, everyone does things when they are young that they are ashamed of, but not many are as violent as she was. I can’t imagine any male who physically attacked a woman being lauded on strictly. There is no excuse for attacking your partner but she seems to think it was ok because she was young.

Mistyglade · 12/10/2025 00:38

She’s talked about having undiagnosed PMDD. I did too and wince and cringe about some of my past behaviour. I don’t like her much but I cut her massive slack for that reason.

Mistyglade · 12/10/2025 00:39

I’ve never seen GS either btw.

BauhausOfEliott · 12/10/2025 00:45

Geordie Shore was a scripted reality show with set up scenarios. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to how anyone seemed in that. They were being directed and were essentially characters.

Agreed. I've never seen Geordie Shore and have only seen her on Celebrity Masterchef before. I thought she was struggling with the feedback tonight and with not having performed as well as she'd have liked. That must have been hard.

She’s not the only celebrity to have a problematic past, though. Look at Cheryl (not sure of her current surname - former X Factor judge). And wasn’t one of the original EastEnders cast a convicted murderer?

the80sweregreat · 12/10/2025 08:43

We’ve all done things in the past that we regret.
Learning by these mistakes is important and it seems that she has. It’s an old biblical saying , but he who is without sin, cast the first stone!

Zempy · 12/10/2025 08:49

She came across so well in the jungle. I think she is genuinely nice.

Arcticsway · 12/10/2025 10:48

I didn't watch Geordie Shore, but I saw her on Celeb Masterchef, and I think I saw some of her stint in the jungle. I am fairly neutral about her, but I found her reaction to the criticism last night a bit irritating, fine to be disappointed but she looked like she was about to burst into tears. She has been around on TV for so long I would have thought she would have a thicker skin and more robust attitude.

Crimblecrumblelover · 12/10/2025 14:02

I did watch Geordie shore and she was horrible to the other girls especially a girl called Rebecca. I am quite surprised that she has went on to other shows and I think there is something very false about her.

SleepQuest33 · 12/10/2025 14:10

I don’t know about her, but yes, I definitely think people can change and improve with maturity and life experience. Are you exactly the same person you were 10 years ago?

xsquared · 12/10/2025 14:15

I haven't seen her in The Geordie Shore, so I'm getting to know her from a clean slate.

The thing that annoyed me about her last night, was her screeching and OTT behaviour in the Clauditorium. I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone jump in the partner's arms and screaming after getting 10s, never mind 7s.

tothelefttotheleft · 12/10/2025 14:54

@JustJani

The irony of you not speaking to posters
Nicely when that's what the thread is about.

No I’m not. And I do believe people can change. But I think if you have it in you to be as cruel as she was then, it does say something about your overall character. I’ve done silly things but I’ve never bullied anyone or called anyone a ‘fat slag’ or things to that effect.

And in the context of this discussion it’s not really about whether she’s genuinely changed or not. It’s how some people manage to totally shake off their past behaviour and thrive while others are outcast and cancelled forever. As pp said, it’s not just her.

I’ve met her a few times in real life as we both used to train at the same (very small) personal training gym and I know her PT quite well (great guy who kills you and takes no shit but is also very open about mental health issues). She was always friendly, chatty and down to earth with a good sense of humour. And worked hard. A very pleasant surprise actually. She looks much better in real life without all the make-up and fake eyelashes.

I wouldn’t want to be judged on my younger self, especially if drink or substances were involved. A friend and I were just saying yesterday how lucky we were to do all our stupid drunken things before social media became such a thing.

whataweekImhaving · 12/10/2025 15:06

I remember her back in the GS days. she certainly did have a very nasty streak, and no, I don’t believe people can change that much.

She very often behaves horribly and then “holds her hands up” shortly after. She will openly say “I behaved like a complete and utter fuckn bellend. I was vile, I was horrible, and I hold me hands up”

Very noble….until she does it again and then trots out the same speech.

She really isn’t.
She’s just learned the performative shit to fool people.

Indigovelvet · 12/10/2025 15:55

I think the I am the most nervous person here persona potentially wards off anyone criticising her. Then she was criticised last night and her reaction made Motsi attempt to reassure her.

AngelofIslington · 12/10/2025 16:00

I agree that yes most people mature and don’t act the same as they do when they are young but she was 24 when she joined Geordie Shore and 27 when she left so not a naive teenager.
Her behaviour on there was truly awful, violently attacking others should never be excused behaviour.
