As @EineReiseDurchDieZeit is unable to start this week's thread I volunteered to do it, so here we are.

I hope this is OK!

Please do not post videos on this thread to avoid making it slow to load - videos go on the dedicated thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/5400581-strictly-2025-video-thread-come-share-your-favourites?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share

Thing is when Shirley gets called out on this odd behaviour she plays the bullied card - as if the victim.

Exactly
She then participates in a few ‘sad face’ interviews talking about how difficult it is being an older woman in show business

Ahh was it Blackpool rejections that have just come out? I didn't apply for Blackpool so that would explain my lack email.

I didn’t apply to Blackpool, either, but got my rejections for 3? dates today.

Perhaps you are still in with a chance of tickets.

ChessieFL · 14/10/2025 05:28

I haven’t had a rejection email yet. Fingers crossed!

ChessieFL · 14/10/2025 15:53

Sadly my rejection email for all the November dates has arrived now.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/10/2025 16:14

Booooo. It would be so amazing if we had someone there live.

Sadly my rejection email for all the November dates has arrived now.

Mine has too. Looks like another year when I won't get to go. I really don't mind for me (fingers crossed I will have many more years to apply) but I would love to take my Mum before the journey is too much for her.

Coffeeishot · 14/10/2025 16:50

I also got my rejection email I just do Blackpool, 1 of these years.

Lewis & Katya doing a Foxtrot to L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2025 17:31

Not keen on Rumbas. Harry will probably ace it , but I find the actual dance a bit cringy. Shirley won’t like Balvinder’s paso :(

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/10/2025 17:58

Excellent @munchbunch12thank you for posting

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/10/2025 18:01

Stefan has the worst dance and song - god help them with costumes. He’ll need votes.

munchbunch12 · 14/10/2025 18:07

From what I remember it's quite a slow song. Not sure how it'd work for a Charleston.

They did a sped up version for a group dance a few years ago with Nadiya, so I guess they will probably do that again.

Now, I enjoyed the K Pop Demon Hunters as a film and think Golden is a real banger, better than Soda Pop, but do we really need it two times in a row?

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2025 18:23

Oh no! Dance monkey is a really awful song.
The singers will make it sound even worse !

It might not be the original. They did a Charleston group dance to it in 2020, and it was very good. Sounded nothing like the original, it was big banded. I'll put the video in the video thread.

the80sweregreat · 14/10/2025 18:46

Oh thanks! I don’t remember them doing a dance to that song before !!

LittleBitofBread · 15/10/2025 09:03

Ross was so emotional and so gracious. I've really enjoyed him. A gentle, kind-seeming man. I'm sure they were actually trying to get rid of him; Paso was so clearly not going to be his dance.
Balvinder deserved higher marks and to get through. Yes, technically she needs work, but her performance and character were spot on. I like Julian too. They seem to be really solid friends.
Vicky wasn't great but she's working so hard.
Karen sold that cha cha even though she clearly found it hard.
Chris was a nice surprise. So much more confident. Good partnering.
Jimmy was an even nicer surprise. Really fluid. Captivating.
Didn't love Harry's salsa; not enough basic steps. He's a nice guy though and I would love to see Karen win.
La Voix was beautiful. Such a good acting performance, with such purity. They're a lovely partnership. The singing was excellent too.
Amber was good, but of course she was. Bit bored of her now.
Lewis was a bit flashy for me. Not a 10. Would have liked to see proper flamenco-style shaping in the hands. I'm happy for Katya having someone she can really push though.
Ellie was joyous. What a performer.
George was way overmarked. Stupid dance, terrible song, and Craig was right, it was largely out of synch and looked like a couple of preteens putting on a show for their parents.
Alex was fab. Great character, such presence. A bit too much 'muckin' abaaaaht' at the start though (dear Len).

@LittleBitofBread I often think of Len when I see the routines now and how he would be calling out all the faffing. I can't remember when the Couples Choice was brought in but I can't imagine he would have been keen. DH chatted to him in the garage one morning (he lived in the next village to us) and he actually said what he wanted was the dance, whether a waltz, foxtrot or whatever, done properly, the correct steps and no faffing. I dread to think of what he would have thought of Sarah Hadland last year where every dance seemed to have her showing her crotch at least once!

Darling Len! Gone but never forgotten. No, he'd have hated CC. I'm sure it came in after he left.
I used to love watching him and Claudia giggling on It Takes Two.

StrictlySequinsandStiIettos · 15/10/2025 22:34

You're joking, aren't you?! Len "I'm Strictly if you cut me down the middle" Goodman was quite happy to take the dollars on DWTS and stay there instead, where couple's choice began years before us and his standards/no faffing schtick seemed to go out the window when it came to the slebs across the pond. I'd have done the same - dollars, sunshine, lifestyle - it's a no-brainer, but the U-turn was as whiplash as a tango head snap.

Apart from the pragmatic issues of money and (presumably) a nice gaff in the US, which I can't criticise him for, I think he probably took the view that they're just very different shows.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 16/10/2025 08:55

Strong point @StrictlySequinsandStiIettos DWTS Len is a different Len from the no FAFFING ABBAART Len. Very producer influenced

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 16/10/2025 10:09

Has this week got a theme? Am I wrong in thinking that it’s icons week?
