As @EineReiseDurchDieZeit is unable to start this week's thread I volunteered to do it, so here we are.

I hope this is OK!

Please do not post videos on this thread to avoid making it slow to load - videos go on the dedicated thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/5400581-strictly-2025-video-thread-come-share-your-favourites?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share

Snurk snarff. I’ve been having highly inappropriate thoughts about Nikita for a while.

I'm pretty sure I've got socks older than him! Aljaz on the other hand...

chaosmaker · 12/10/2025 20:02

see you on the new thread next week waves

I can't think of a band less tango-ey than Coldplay. Maybe Brotherhood of Man? Or The Wurzels?

in 2017 Alijaz and Gemma Atkinson did a paso doble to this song.

Brindlegirl · 12/10/2025 20:03

It often happens that someone like Balvinder, or even better, lands in the dance-off around now. Viewers often think they’re safe and give a boost to someone like Chris and forget about people just above.

Luckily Ross was the obvious one to go. I hope Balvinder avoids the dance-off next week. She’s lovely to watch and doesn’t squeal and act childishly!

And it was good.
Hope Balvinder gets good music and a good dance next week.
Will be gutted if she goes before Stefan and Chris. But not at all surprised.

It’s the public who have put Balvinder in the dance off. I will keep voting for Alex for this reason.

Yes, although the judges votes do count - after the judges finish, the couples are given a score reflecting their position, so bottom couple get 1, next 2 and so on. Then the public vote and the same thing happens, with 1 for the bottom in that order. The two are added together, so if Ross got the lowest public vote his score this week would be 2.

So a low judges vote can make a couple's position dangerous if they are not getting a stellar public vote

I was just wondering what the leaving order will be once Chris and Stefan are out because, ringers aside it's a very middle of the road cast.

Pashazade · 12/10/2025 20:10

The Mulan piece with Lang Lang was gorgeous! So nice to have something proper different!

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 12/10/2025 20:10

Deffo a lack lustre line up this year.

NowNumber5 · 12/10/2025 20:11

See you all next week 👋
Thanks for the threads and the chats.

Blessed are the thread makers ✨️

Disappointed that Cynthia didn’t sing.

They're all pre recorded aren't they, so maybe she'll show up later on. Musicals Week perhaps?

I miss Gorkha. Balvinder would have done well with him maybe.

TennisWithDeborah · 12/10/2025 20:23

I think that Stefan might be in the DO next week despite Dianne’s fan base unless he pulls off an amazing dance. Bal will get a bounce I think.

Lewis and Amber are the best, but the public won’t hand either of them the glitter ball. They’ll likely be in the final, but against whom? It seems quite open. George is great but does he (and Alexis?) have the fan base to take them past Blackpool ?

Yes, he was good. He might come back.

Garamousalata · 12/10/2025 20:26

Lang Lang wasn’t overly challenged with that piece. They should have got him to play the second movement from Shostakovich Piano Concerto Number two.

CaveMum · 12/10/2025 20:27

A shame for Ross as he did seem to be genuinely trying his best, but definitely his time to go.

Poor Bal, I nearly voted for her but ran out of votes!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 12/10/2025 20:30

@TennisWithDeborah I completely agree with you about Lewis and Amber but I think George will do well (and possibly even win) due to the "journey" element.

I'm not sure if Hamza had a big fanbase. I'm not into nature documentaries so I'd never heard of him at the time but he was lovely, humble, not a ringer, had a journey. And then won it.

Choppychop · 12/10/2025 20:31

Gorka Marquez is not competing on
Strictly Come Dancing 2025 because of a schedule clash with his role as a judge on the Spanish version of the show, Bailando con las Estrellas. His commitment in Spain prevents him from taking on a celebrity partner, though he will appear in group numbers later in the series. (From google). So he can still appear in group dances that are pre recorded.

They might not both make the final if they aren’t getting the public votes later down the line and end up in a dance off against each other. I could see that happening once the number thins out more as ringers don’t tend to get the votes.

Hamza had the “kid vote” too thanks to his CBeebies show - I remember my kids hassling me to vote for him because they recognised him!

He was great, wasn't he? Hamza, Bill Bailey, Rose, Chris...they were engaging, hard working and lovely people who deserved to win. Oh, and not ringers!

TennisWithDeborah · 12/10/2025 20:35

I liked Hamza having never heard of him before.

Same with Rose.

And now George.

Yes, same here.

Mildorado · 12/10/2025 20:36

I really liked Ross's waltz to Sunshine on Leith, I thought that was lovely.

Holluschickie · 12/10/2025 20:38

I did not enjoy Hamza or Chris at all, which just goes to show we are all different! Voted for Fleur, I think.
