A TV documentary that follows the work of a police force will show how the investigation into the actions of a teenage killer unfolded.

Nicholas Prosper used a shotgun to kill his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, his brother Kyle, 16, and his 13-year-old sister, Giselle, at their home in Luton on 13 September 2024.
The 19-year-old, who was arrested in the hours after the murders, was jailed for 49 years in March. A trial heard he intended to carry out a shooting at his former primary school.

The Channel Four series 24 Hours in Police Custody, which follows the work of investigators at Bedfordshire Police, will feature the case over two nights on 5 and 6 October.

Nicholas Prosper jailed for at least 49 years for Luton triple murders

After killing his family in their tower block in Luton, Nicholas Prosper planned to carry out a mass shooting at his former primary school.

Such a sad episode and I’m so glad the boy is safe with his grandmother. His mother knew what was going to happen or why wouldn’t she suggest Stephen to look after the kids?

I was very frustrated with Stephen’s solicitor butting in advising him not to answer just when it looked like he was going to talk. That’s why he went from ‘I want to make a statement’ to ‘no comment’ again; the solicitor advised against it. The police are allowed to remove solicitors who interfere too much and I think they should have in this instance. I haven’t been this annoyed with a solicitor since that flash ‘better call Saf’ twat who completely disrespected the interviewing officers.

What do you think the solicitor's job is?

Putting it kindly, did anyone else think that the bobby with the uncle and cousin at the first crime scene was a bit out of her depth?

Yes I did but I didn’t know if I was being unfair (having never done the job)

IAmKerplunk · 12/12/2025 15:55

I do think this is the best real police programme on tv - it’s a shame there aren’t more and they aren’t regular but when they are on bloody hell they are good.

SingingOcean · 12/12/2025 17:25

I think this may have been shared before on the thread, but they discussed the programme-making on The Rest Is Entertainment. Apparently, Channel 4 have such trust in the programme-makers that they just buy the episodes when they are ready. I.e. they don't demand X number of episodes a year. That keeps the quality high.

Yes - I listened to that too! Ch4 said they were quite happy to slot it in as and when it became available. It is very well made - and worth the wait between episodes.

I worked in a MCU briefly and I'm afraid I lost a lot of faith in the police. It was the most toxic work environment I have ever experienced and I don't think I'm really over it even now.

Still, in episode 1 I recognised one of the officers referring to a "sig wit" when the subtitles couldn't.

IAmKerplunk · 12/12/2025 17:34

What’s an sig wit?

I always think I want an independent camera crew following the police around. Hold them all to account and think about how they are behaving. Though that doesn’t stop police officers in certain shows police interceptors still being arseholes.

SingingOcean · 12/12/2025 18:08

“Significant Witness” meaning a Significant Witness statement was needed from the neighbour.

She was in an impossible situation, trying to balance the need for privacy and not revealing what she knew, while evaluating on the fly whether these guys were friends of the perpetrators, or next on the kill list! She made the correct call

ticktockali · 12/12/2025 18:25

The neighbour and his description of Stephen & the details of his car certainly helped and sped up their hunt on finding him.
I think it showed the brilliance of our Police Force.

Still surprised a double shot gun murder wouldn’t receive a whole life tarif ..

They're pretty rare, mostly for serial killers I think.

She could always take comfort in the fact that she avoided prison in the first place… Such a good liar, telling police “I’ll never forgive him for what he’s done” when he was caught, when she clearly expected it. I wonder generally if people who work in the legal profession or the police feel that the CPS is sometimes a bit problematic in how it decides not to charge, or if it’s just my the public’s perception

I can assure you, it does get very frustrating at times.

Episode 2.

Says he wants to give an interview to explain after the initial "No Comment" mantra.

Proceeds to No Comment on everything 👹

I think that was all about control. He was smirking at times during the interviews.

Also one of his text messages mentioned something about not going along with authority or wtte.

Total arsehole who thinks he's clever.

Did they say he used to be a councillor? (Not relevant to the above)

whatohwhattodo · 21/12/2025 18:28

Looks like there is another new one on this evening.

purpleme12 · 21/12/2025 18:31

It's a repeat

dapsnotplimsolls · 21/12/2025 21:12

I haven't seen it so giving it a go.

Florencesndzebedee · 22/12/2025 14:19

Last nights was a repeat but was another interesting episode.

Speaking of old episodes, does anyone know if the Black Widow 2-parter is available to watch anywhere? I’ve heard that one is really good but I haven’t seen it

purpleme12 · 11/12/2025 08:12

This is one of my favourites ever because despite the seriousness of the situation it manages to be camp as hell as playfully hilarious. I laughing for days at the Chinese in the car
