Though from what I remember couples choice has been at least something to do with the celeb before...cheis dancing to never walk alone was it? And I'm sure others??

yes, that's true. I was thinking more of the timing of it. like, George likely wouldn't have any say over what week he gets to perform it? I don't know lol. It's all confusing (and it's definitely too early for a couples choice).

xsquared · 08/10/2025 21:03

I'm going to echo what other posters have said, and Couple's Choice should be got rid of. It's just another show dance.

I think Chris danced to You'll Never Walk Alone in the waltz. Pretty sure his CC was to We All Shine On by John Lennon, the connection presumably being that they are both scousers. Which is tenuous in the extreme! YNWA would've made much more sense.

I am catching up on Saturday’s show super late this week. So far La Voix and Kaz were a bit disappointing but I loved Jimmy looking more relaxed and enjoying a bit of Latin. I’m co-reading the Week 2 thread so rewound to see the trouser situation which I hadn’t noticed at all, as Lauren is mesmerising as a dancer. She’s become one of my fave pros after last year stepping in with JB.

Zodiacrobat · 08/10/2025 22:44

Ooooohhh I loved Lewis and Katya’s sexy powerful waltz. So much more interesting than the usual twee - slightly boring - ones. I just knew it would piss Shirley off. Katya is so sexy!

Zodiacrobat · 08/10/2025 23:13

Really liked Alex’s samba, it made me smile. There was loads of content and difficult in it and very little faffing about, maybe slightly over marked but she did great and brought a real elegance to it which wasn’t easy in that horrific dress. Well done Johannes for a brilliant job on the teaching.

Aww how can you not love Ellie and Vito? Adorable. I loved the butterflies in her hair too. She looked more comfortable and controlled this week. Vito is obviously doing a great job as partner and teacher and all round lovely bloke with her.

Zodiacrobat · 08/10/2025 23:37

Thank god we will never have to see Slimy Tom the Tongue again.

Harry was good! Not sure yet on his chemistry with Karen, feel like she could end up getting really annoyed with his hyper puppy shtick.

Ross’s VT was a heart tugger, like they were thinking he would def be first boot so cram in all the emotional stuff they could. I absolutely love the Proclaimers so hearing that song being dirged by the strictly singers was rather painful. Also the background above the steps looked to me more like the top part of Water of Leith in Edinburgh which is actually in Stockbridge, not Leith. Like a researcher googled Leith and picked the first photo that came up. Bless Jowita, you could see her giving instructions through her gritted teeth smile.

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 00:10

Agree with all the comments that Nikita with a ringer is better than no Nikita. He is just <chefs kiss> such an incredible dancer.

I liked Vicky’s dance but thought the judges comments were a bit over done, very hyping her up, loads of time spend on her and also extra chat in the Clauditorium and then they only gave her 6’s??

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 00:33

I do like Chris too, and Nadiya looked like a goddess as always, stunning and such an elegant dancer. I’ve seen her live in a show and she was captivating. I’m glad he’s through.

Stefan is 66, if I can still do a knee slide and get up again at 66 I’ll be well chuffed!

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 00:35

Stefan seems to be very well liked by the rest of the group.

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 01:34

cordelia16 · 05/10/2025 20:06

Seems a bit unfair that Harry/Karen and Stefan/Dianne don't get to sit on the sofa.

Yes I thought that too. Can we infer they were the closest to the drop zone or just unlucky to be held in the red light to the bitter end?

and my final note on Saturday show - I really liked Balvinder’s Charleston, charming and fun. The 2 new pro’s seem to be doing well with their partners!

Is Tom the worst ‘dancer’ in the history of Strictly? I haven’t been watching very long, but I find it hard to imagine there has ever been anyone worse.

I have 2 words for you: Quentin Wilson.

@C8H10N4O2Do you mean Kenny and Gabby Logan?

I have met them both (more than once). Kenny was and still is absolutely lovely. Gabby was a stuck up snooty “don’t you know who I am” cow who was dead behind the eyes and is always constantly swivelling her eyes to see who is a better option to network with in the room. Ghastly woman. Every time she’s on the telly I have a little rant about how awful she was/is.

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 01:44

BurntBroccoli · 05/10/2025 21:03

It’s good they changed to online with a maximum number instead of telly voting as that can be manipulated more I feel.

I suspect all the votes for Pete last year had something to do with it.

I didn’t like the dress at all, either. I’ve just watched last Thursday’s ITT. They only had two dresses on models (as usual) but one of them was Alex’s dress. Janette, or possibly Vicki Gill, said how much they liked the fabric. Vicki said people either love it or hate it. I’m in the second group.

As a complete side note, Kenny comes from a long line of dairy farmers. My dad and his dad sold Friesian cattle at the same sales. Kenny’s cousin Hamish was killed at a very young age. I’ve read articles where he mentioned him. Hamish was in the Young Farmers Club and we did a lot of shows and plays. I’ll never forget him imitating Max Wall.
I can imagine Gabby is a bit stuck up.

Zodiacrobat · 09/10/2025 02:07

Having Chris and Ross do a Paso Doble in the same week as Lewis is just downright cruel! Talk about contrasts!

I love Halloween week i know it is silly and ott but I don't care 😀 I prefer musical week to movie week, Movie week dances are usually a stretch

I always feel week 3 is too early for a themed week and for new dancers coping with costumes and characters as well as learning a dance. It’s killed more than one hopeful pair.

im totally on board with the idea of combining movie and musicals week together in one, later on.

This does not suprise me, I've never been able to warm to GL on telly. At some point recently she gave an interview moaning about her early Strictly exit and the unfairness of it all that Kenny got to stay longer despite being a poorer dancer. It was nearly 20 years ago, get over it!

NorthernGirl1975 · 09/10/2025 08:31

I'm bored to tears now with the rehashing of Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music. It's really unoriginal. I also think if they have to be used (and there are so many others to choose from) put it in musicals week. There's too much crossover. Movie Week would be better if it stuck to movies that haven't been made into musicals. Obviously they'd have to be reasonably recognisable. A good example of this, irrespective of the malarkey around them, was the 2018 Matrix dance with Katya and Sean.
