Yes and no. Firstly, even though voting figures weren't released iirc, Darren was nonetheless well ahead in the odds, even before the show dance. So it wasn't the thing that stopped Colin winning. He was never going to win.

No, because it did what Erin wanted - namely, it showed Colin could lead entirely by himself. He wasn't being surreptitiously led by her (which happens more than you'd think, the female pros know how to steer without making it look obvious).
Colin did eventually win a Xmas one though and did DOI and is now happily out the closet (he wasn't back then) but I do still feel for Erin. She, like Nat, was a pro I thought might get the
one day. After Colin, Austin was probably her best bet (No, Julian Clary does not count).
