I agree Steve got off very lightly. Especially considered how hard Mel was on Sarah!
His excuse about his stepdad was BS because why not have a drink or just chill out indoors with his wife if he wanted to distract himself? Why is his first port of call out with these boys he’s not known much longer than his wife?
If this is how he deals with the stresses that life sends him it doesn’t bode well for their future. Every time something isn’t going well in his life he is going to be abusive!
I said from the beginning I’d love to hear his exes take on how he was/is as a partner and father. I can imagine him kicking off under the stress of their SEN child.
It’s obvious his tears were massively manipulative. I clocked his clenched jaw and angry eyes just a few moments earlier when Julia mentioned her husband should have spoke up when she was arguing with him.
If he was genuinely sorry he would have apologised profusely to Julia and others for his aggressive outburst.
It is a shame though how this is showcasing even “decent” men, especially heterosexual ones, don’t challenge each other on their behaviour. Look at how even Maeves seemingly nice fella was urging her to “keep out of it” . And Bailey was it just trotted behind Steven when he called them “a bunch of cunts”. Divarni was completely useless . Only man who has stood up to him is Keay who is obviously gay.
I get that some people don’t want drama or conflict but it smacks of the whole bro code thing. I feel if Sarah attacked Dean like that the same men remaining silent would be piping up.
