I hope nobody minds, but since I saw "lips, nips and crystal tips" in one of the comments, I just had to make it into a thread.

OP posts:

Maeve has a straight up alcohol problem. If drinking makes you belligerent and aggressive and causes you to fall out with your friends/partner then it doesn’t work for you.

it seemed like she was asking him to help her at one point, like shes ambivalent about changing and sort of wants a calmer life but feels she can’t do it alone.

It’s really vulnerable and not appropriate for a brutal reality show like this.

Dean could be drop dead gorgeous ... its his revolting, try hard, im mad me personality that's off putting.
I reckon he lost weight, still couldn't get the girls cos he's an annoying twat so put weight back on for his excuse as to why no one fancies him ... easier to blame the flab than have a hard look at yourself.

I view these shows as any other TV show-these are not real people but characters that play a role that they have been assigned. I would never seek out their real-life profiles or anything like that. It's just entertainment on TV.

Yes definitely.
I try and watch them with a certain amount of suspended disbelief, which I think is necessary to enjoy them.

Rollergirl11 · 28/09/2025 13:21

Have just caught up. Agree with pretty much all the posts.

Leigh is a right cow and needs humbling. Not sure why Leah is putting up with her shit.

Julia-Ruth appears to be accusing Divarni of not making conversation whilst also not putting any effort in to making conversation.

Dean is irritating as hell.

Maeve is rough as arseholes, thick as mince with an alcohol problem. What could go wrong?! I predict she’ll either physically attack Joe or one of the women (maybe Leigh) at some point and be kicked off.

That being said, roll on the dinner party as bored of the wedding/boneymoons now.

TinselAngel · 28/09/2025 13:31

I’d forgotten it’s on tonight

Place-marking!

I think Nelly is the only one I like so far. They’re mostly pretty unlikable, some look more likable due to being matched with someone utterly awful.
Makes it fascinating, and a relief to be single.

I agree with those saying Maeve is actually too troubled to be on the show, as she has an alcohol problem. I didn't like the way he was pushing and pushing her to try to get her to flip when she was drunk the other night. I think she actually managed to de-escalate that quite well which was a relief but I don't know how long she will be able to keep doing that if he insists on making her have emotionally vulnerable conversations when she has had a few.

It's like Dean going on and on about his weight to get the sympathy vote and try to trick Sarah into being rude by asking questions there are no positive answers to like "Would you like me more if I lost weight?". These guys are quite manipulative! If it were women doing that the guys would have flipped long ago.

Ok, now I know why it's on a Sunday now - BB starts at 9 tonight!

I don’t agree with your viewpoint of how that interaction went down. Joe was telling Maeve how he had enjoyed seeing her with her guard down and that it was his job as a husband to get that out of her and she instantly got annoyed and said she was really pissed off and was gonna kick off. It escalated really quick from that one comment. He wasn’t prodding her. Obviously we are at the mercy of the edit but it all seemed to be going well and she took immediate offence to him saying she has her guard up when she had already explained that she has her guard up. I think she just gets aggy when she’s had a drink and that’s hardly Joe’s fault.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 28/09/2025 15:09

Maeve has definitely been cast to cause shouty drunken drama at the Dinner parties

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 28/09/2025 15:11

Placemarking in the hope I will get a chance to watch with you all. Love the thread title (lips, Nips and crystal tips was my comment, flattered!)

It's a bit of a bugger really.
Note to self: you must not stay up late to watch both!

QueSyrahSyrah · 28/09/2025 19:42

Checking in!

FirstCuppa · 28/09/2025 20:03

I guess it can be seen as her flipping but although it was an exaggerated reaction he did keep asking "why, why though, you have to have a reason, why, why?" when she had tried to explain and shut it down and get him to stop the conversation. I do think he could have just dropped it when she said it had pissed her off and tackled it when they were sober. This is why I don't think these two are going to go anywhere, much as I think she likes him - she was on the water by the end of this but any more drink in her and I suspect she wouldn't have been able to https://www.tiktok.com/@tv_commentary/video/7554212062725950742
