I’m sorry if there’s already a thread. I couldn’t see one.
just started this today. Am hooked already.
perfect cold night in thriller.
Without giving too much away, Toni Collete is fucking terrifying in this (to me).

slightly off topic: does she ever put a foot wrong? Since the days of Muriel (‘Mariel’) , she seems to have been unfailingly brilliant.
not sure I’ve seen everything she’s done so open to recommendations.

there was a thread recently about ubiquitous faces and it can be so urgh when you see the same names over and over, particularly British ex soap stars turned household names in every drama series going, or typecast movie stars who play the same character in every production but TC does seem to have a genuine and broad spectrum talent.

watched the first two tonight. Very intriguing.

I'm enjoying this. I watched half the episodes, then got distracted watching The Intruder (also enjoyed) now will go back to watch the other half

Piggywaspushed · 15/10/2025 13:49

I am watching The Intruder too !

CoralBells · 15/10/2025 15:35

Toni Collette is bloody sinister in this. She's such a good actress.

Definitely one of the best examples of this type of series I've seen recently.

Piggywaspushed · 15/10/2025 15:56

It's slightly veering into so ridiculous it's good territory but because it's French it gets away with it!

Yes, some bits are implausible, but I guess they're needed to make the storyline work.

Just binged this. I also thought it was mother and son moving at the beginning until they kissed!
I’m also surprised no one has mentioned the nipples. They were all wrong. Couldn’t they have done a better job with some sort of plastic surgery.
As for The absolutely cringe sex scene. I thought he/she/it/they/them rolled onto their front in order to be able to only show a naked bum and not have to show anything else on camera

Chiaseedling · 20/10/2025 22:42

Really enjoyed it, esp the eps that focused on the kids in the school. Loved it when they all rebelled and Stacey was amazing actress.

Agreee w a PP that Leila def gave DrewBarrymorw vibes.

Alex and Laura not convincing as a couple. I had to google how old Mae Martin is - looks like a teenage boy so it’s quite jarring.

Looks like another cult is forming w Laura and her acolytes.

RamsaySnowsSausage · 30/10/2025 02:05

Just finished this and liked it. It was between a coming of age black comedy and a dark conspiracy mystery.

I thought the casting was fine. Lots of people have said Laura looks like Drew Barrymore but all I could see was a young Patricia Arquette! I did buy them as a couple- the sex scene went on too long but it was lovely that it interjected with the speech and made them out to have it all- passion, love, a baby on the way before it all went wrong.

My criticism is that it seemed to fast forward some important scenes/arcs and linger on boring ones (oatmeal 🙄).

And why did none of them seem to give two shits about Toast 🤣

Italiangreyhound · 30/10/2025 15:16

"My criticism is that it seemed to fast forward some important scenes/arcs" what did you feel wasn't given enough time RamsaySnowsSausage?

Personally, I felt he history of the place could have been explored more.

londongirl12 · 05/11/2025 21:44

Just finished this, late to the party!! Didn’t like the end at all!

Italiangreyhound · 07/11/2025 20:13

I actually thought the end was good because it left the door open for series 2!

Justnetballandcoffee · 03/04/2026 22:13

I may be late but I just finished this and really enjoyed it.

I completely missed that it was supposed to be set in 2003 so yes it was very forward of them all to accept Mae's character as a man but I do like Mae and don't agree their acting is poor. Had not realised they'd had top surgery, thought just small boobs!

Like a PO, I thought Laura was going to be Evelyn's daughter.

Actually at first I thought there were two storylines from different times and Leila was a young Laura...

It was all weird but I enjoyed it.
