Why?

This was @LittleBitofBread’s post about the alleged certainty around Ellie winning or reaching the final, I have to say it’s a hard agree. People remember Chris and Rose but forget Ellie S , Will, Jody, Johnnie, Lauren, JJ and Katie all of whom had disabilities, none won. Winning because you're disabled is not automatic and it’s grossly unfair on everyone involved but especially Ellie Goldstein to suggest that it is.

If she is good she’ll go far if not I see goodwill taking her midway but not beyond.

Because it's often the most likeable and heartwarming contestant that wins.
Last year it was impossible to say Chris was the best dancer but he had charm and was very brave.
The public will vote for people like that and not, say, a ringer.
I think it’s in the spirit of the programme.

I’m just finally catching up on the pre recorded Launch Show!
I liked the opening Pros number.
Im laughing at MiniVern, can totally see it!
I also enjoyed the pool party dance to introduce the 2 new dancers, let us see some of their moves. She looks like a Pocket Rocket Jowita style. He looked a bit more self conscious in the dance.

Loved the review of Chris and Dianne. He’s right, we forgot he is actually blind, they did amazing things and well deserved winners .

Yes thanks, I’ve seen the thread for show one, thought I’d keep my comments on the right one for the launch one. I’ll get there - maybe tonight if DH is late home!

I’m doing the threads on a weekly basis. You can happily add your launch and first week comments to the current thread, no one will mind. I’ll be starting a new thread on Saturday and it’s easier all round if old threads aren’t getting bumped as it creates confusion for those looking for the new thread.

Yes agree with all of this. I think a few of us have been saying for years that Karen deserves a decent celeb and I think/hope she’s got one!

I was assuming Dianne would want to have a shot at retaining her title or at least do well and get some way in to the competition so it looks good on her “Strictly CV” - so many winners get absolute dump fires for celebs the next year so she maybe didn’t want to be out right away.

Oh the lovely Nigel! Oh he was fab. I was SO gutted for him.

It was sad, but my personal Most Gutted when it comes to withdrawal due to injury is still AJ Odudu.
