80s the old cards were so badly damaged I imagine he chucked them in the bin!

I think Max is back 'long term' isn't he? Which generally means at least a year. It would make sense for him to buy the car lot as Lauren works there too. Or he could be the next market inspector, they still haven't filled that role (imagine Max shuffling round the market with a clipboard😆)

I read somewhere that Max was back briefly now and then longer term later. Apparently he is the reason Stacey goes, she is jealous of him and Zoe

Me neither. It’s always been far-fetched to me (even considering this is EE) that so many attractive women over the years have fallen for him.

I don't get the love for Max either. He is well played by Jake Wood, and he had good storylines at first. But I was glad when he left as I think Max as a character is completely wrung out.

And young girls like Stacey and Lucy falling for him - yuk.

I thought the brief return was the section with Zoe, and he is back for good now? But I don't know. I wish they would stop doing these brief returns, they did it with Zoe, Max, and shortly with Ben. Just bring them back or don't.

Chrissy'reappearance was epic but yes, I agree brief returns are generally a bit contrived.

From this year, the only reappearance that’s been successful is when we saw the ghost of Angie Watts.

@OpalescentFruit yes I agree, Chrissie's was good and so was David's, I liked the anniversary returns. I meant the 'brief returns' this producer is doing, like Zoe's and Ben's, where there is a big to-do then they disappear for weeks/months before returning permanently. It's just done to generate publicity/interest and it's really irritating, makes the storylining so choppy.

I can understand the Max attraction. He is not a conventionally attractive man but personality wise he exudes a mix of charm, arrogance and mystery that I suppose a lot of women find irresistible. It’s far more believable than Ian Beale’s multiple marriages to extremely attractive women! Phil’s hold on the opposite sex is also odd but he has money, property and certain useful skills according to Trace the barmaid😂

Chrissy’s return was good as the actress is great but it was spoiled by the shoddy prisoner cell block H set up. The fight scenes and extremely poor acting from the prison gang members let the storyline down. Wish we could have seen her back on the square taking on the likes of Zoe and Nicola.

Angie's return was the best TV moment of 2025! I had tears in my eyes, such a lovely scene ❤️

@Eastie77Returns Chrissy and Nicola combo would be REALLY something!!! Huge storyline mileage there.

I think they would like to think Nicola is Chrissie mk2. They are wrong!

Max and Tanya were a believable couple. But Max and Stacey / Lucy with the huge age gaps of 20 and 25 years when the girls were so young felt quite sleazy. And now he's back at it with Zoe who is 15 years younger.

Loved seeing Anita Dobson back where she belongs !
The anniversary episodes were not too bad, but killing off Martin was a low.
Chrissie would be awesome and wipe the floor with the new Mitchells.
I can see Phil’s appeal tbh. Although his past history is very chequered and history of violence and alcoholism too. He isn’t a good partner on paper.
How Ian got all the women historically I’ve no idea , but his been single for ages and turning into a bit part!

I can see Phil's appeal too. Just about! I think it's mainly because of Steve McF's acting.

It is a mystery how Ian gets good looking women, but he had to blackmail Mel into marrying him, Cindy shot him (twice), and Jane helped conceal Lucy's death. So he wasn't really that lucky😆

No, Ian’s love life has been tragic! The Mel lies about Lucy having cancer was really awful. Ian isn’t a nice person deep down.

What I meant was Ian lying to Mel about Lucy!

Max also had a relationship with Ruby - a 20 year age gap there.

And wasn't Lucy and Max's daughter Lauren best friends at one point?
There really is an unhealthy obsession with putting young girls in relationships with much older men on EE.

Max is just someone who prefers younger women and they all fall for him. He isn’t even that charming , but maybe just the fact he can say the right things that make them all fall at his feet?

I’d like to see an older woman with a younger man on EE , but the reaction to this would be different I bet.
I guess that this must have been the case with Nicola and Zack maybe thinking about it.

Lauren and Lucy set up a business together not long before she was died. I can’t remember what it was though.

Denise and Ravi ticked that box for a bit.
