Oooo loved it , it was such good telly BUT Daniel was a trauma surgeon, no CPR on his mother, not even a quick chest compression? 😂

@lazymum99 @CalzoneOnLegs the house is in St John’s Wood

Cafeconleche · 13/09/2025 00:49

It also has a gate across the driveway (another hole in the storyline tbh) A house that luxurious would have security up the ying yang!

Also noticed a lot of Ralph Lauren clothing, shirts, dressing gown, the shop with outside shots where Cherry bought the suit for the funeral.

Wonder if they were a 'sponsor'?

Are there any bakers that can explain how animal blood could be contained within a wedding cake and not coagulate? And leak out and ruin the white icing ?
how did she access the wedding cake anyway 🤣

Edited

I thought that was a dream sequence.

I thought that was a dream sequence.

No it wasn’t a dream, her mums friend daughter was watching it in her phone.

CalzoneOnLegs · 13/09/2025 14:08

Why did she say she didn’t drink coffee ? She was drinking coffee from a cafetiere when she was having breakfast with the husband in Spain.

Ah yes... I've caught up now. On ep 3.

I know right? Especially after the arrest earlier on. Up until then I thought it was quite believable.

Also why did Cherry pretend to drown on holiday, just to get on Laura's good side?

I don't know if she did 'pretend' to drown - there's a big difference between doing slow lengths in a pool you can stand up in, and panicking when you fall in the sea. They showed it in her POV so you'd have thought if they wanted to show her faking it they would have made it more obvious that was what she was doing?

Re: the cake the poster below you queried, I saw it mentioned somewhere she filled a balloon with blood, so it would only explode (probably not with that much ferocity though!) when cut into, which makes more sense. Reminds me a bit of medieval times when they managed to bake loads of birds into cakes who then escaped when cut! (so unhygienic!)

Still pretty unlikely she could have access to it though, although could be a commentary on how little rich people pay attention to 'the staff' if she could just walk in as part of the catering crew? tbh there's a lot of suspension of disbelief.

I think it's a shame it was a one-off, how much more competitive would they have got over a grandchild? Tbh with or without Daniel involved - in fact it might have been better if they could have accidentally killed off Daniel while fighting, but Cherry reveals she's pregnant with his child so they both have reasons to keep on the others good side while also still hating each other.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 13/09/2025 20:02

I know he’d been drugged by honestly - the rate at which Laura’s death was all neatly wrapped up with seemingly no consequence was insane!!!!

beasmithwentworth · 13/09/2025 23:38

What a brilliant watch! I mean so many plot holes and questions. How was he a doctor but the only time he made it into a hospital was when he was in a coma himself 😂🤔? Did Cherry actually like / love him or was she just a psychopath? Who was more bonkers in the end…. Cherry or Laura? How did Laura get away with emptying all of those drugs into his whiskey in full view of him and why did she stir his drink and not hers just for effect? And as someone else said why was there no consequence for Laura’s death? And why no attempt to resuscitate her if he’s a doctor? And so many more. Totally loved it!

overwhelmedsinglema · 14/09/2025 00:26

With all her money, I was begging for Laura to just hire a private detective!

overwhelmedsinglema · 14/09/2025 00:29

I also wonder what she did to the poor boy who stood her up at the dance! Sorry, her mum is a dick! If my daughter was that inherently fucked up, I’d want her locked up for her own safety as well as everyone else’s!

Also, it was really frustrating that Laura’s best friend turned against her and also that Daniel didn’t even attempt CPR!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/09/2025 00:45

I watched episode 2 and thought "Oh this is a disappointment they're being friendly but there's another four episodes" but it appears that's all going to change Wink

Inkanta · 14/09/2025 07:53

Very entertaining - enjoyed it!

tbh I thought the best friend thing makes sense. Surely as a mother someone telling you they'd lied about the death of their child would really shake you. It's just so awful a thing to do.

With Cherry's mother I wondered whether perhaps there was a lot of guilt there - although not spelled out it's very heavily hinted that her father was violent towards them growing up so she probably blames herself for how Cherry is.

I agree with the lack of CPR but am surprised so many people are highlighting the 'lack of repercussions' to Laura's death. Firstly, they'd had time to get married and for Cherry to get pregnant so the end scene was at least a few years later. There probably was an inquest and police investigation during that time, but just wasn't shown.

I'm not sure what repercussions people expected to see? The bar for charging for murder/manslaughter is pretty high, let alone being convicted by a jury. The only 2 witnesses would have given the same story, Daniel would have had drugs in his toxicology, Cherry had a bleeding hand, the crime scene (doors/windows etc) would have all matched up with their stories of being locked in/broken out of, if they'd interviewed the husband and her friends they would have all given a history of Laura behaving erratically, and, key, nobody would have been pushing for Cherry/Daniel to be charged. They probably would have been interviewed for murder/manslaughter but ultimately there was sufficient evidence to support self-defence so from CPS's point of view, would be unlikely to pass the realistic prospect of conviction test, so that's the end of it.

lavendermilkshake · 14/09/2025 15:26

It said on the screen, "One year later".

I got confused with the phones in the last ep, when I thought she left the phone on Daniel's chest for him to hear, and then it's in the kitchen with her, and then it's under the little sidetable thing that the cat paws at (which looked as if it was someone else's house, but clearly wasn't!)

I loved it, they should make more series like that. I was rooting for Cherry.

happinessischocolate · 14/09/2025 15:53

I loved seeing their different perspectives of the same events

i did wonder why he didn’t pull Laura out of the water and do CPR but with him being drugged up he would have had slow reactions and maybe as a trauma doctor would know that it’s too late 🤷‍♀️

I didn’t like the first episode and wondered what the fuss was about but then when it switched to Cherry I loved it.

briiliant ending, poor Daniel, 2 psycho women in his life.

EachandEveryone · 14/09/2025 16:00

Oh what on earth can I watch? I’ve done The Guest which is the nearest to it. I’ve done White Lotus.

CalzoneOnLegs · 14/09/2025 16:02

@happinessischocolate I like parallel perspectives in film making too. There is a truly excellent film uses this technique throughout . It’s directed by Sidney Lumet with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke called ‘before the devil knows you’re dead’ it is so good, dark though. I can highly reccomend.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 14/09/2025 16:06

I took it as he wanted his mum dead as she was controlling and smothering and drove him to it. He probably would have wound up hurting her anyway. I think Cherry and Laura are both as bad as each other and he’s basically married his mother anyway!!
