New 5 part drama

Will it beat Pauline behind the curtain 😂😂😂

Joanna moves to the quiet town of Flinstead with her young son, Alfie – a fresh start in a place that promises peace.

But beneath its quiet surface lies something more sinister.

When she discovers a chilling rumour about a convicted child killer hiding in plain sight, Joanna seizes the chance to bond with the local mums by sharing it – unknowingly unleashing a wave of paranoia and suspicion.

As whispers grow louder and tensions rise, Joanna is swept into a dangerous spiral of secrets and blame.

With trust eroding and fear spreading like wildfire, she begins to question not only the town’s past but her own instincts. Who can she trust?

And what will it cost her to find the truth?

The story is based on the Sunday Times bestselling book by Lesley Kara,

The cast of The Rumour includes Rachel Shenton (All Creatures Great and Small, For Her Sins, The Strangers Part 1 & Part 2) who stars as Joanna – a mother desperate to outrun her past and protect her future. Also joining the cast is Joanne Whalley (Willow, Wolf Hall, Scandal), Emily Atack (Rivals), Samuel Anderson (Doctor Who, Amandaland), Ellie Haddington (Enola Holmes, Motherland), Lucy Speed (Unforgotten, Afterlife), Liza Sadovy (A Real Pain, Patience, A Small Light) and Carryl Thomas (Emmerdale, Silo, Silent Witness, Eastenders). Rounding out the ensemble cast are Tamzin Griffin, Alex Waldmann and Okezie Morro.

On wed Thur Fri and then not till next week

Thank you @Blondeshavemorefun , I’m going to watch this. Nothing will beat Pauline behind the curtain! Channel 5 at its best.

Good cast for this, let’s hope we enjoy it.

So she now thinks the house she is selling belongs to the child killer Sally ?

Oliack1417 · 10/09/2025 21:32

Hmm I really dislike it when they film in odd locations. I expected a coastal town, as per the book. Watching it, the setting seems really odd, like the vibe is off - I’ve googled it and it’s filmed in Budapest! Channel 5 often do this.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2025 22:00

Cheap and cheerful

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2025 22:02

pervy hubby Debbie won’t like that

Not keen on Joanna, or most of the characters so far.

It was really daft of her to mention Sally McGowan at all like that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2025 23:28

She wanted to be in with the in crowd of mummies

equally if she read it on the neighbourhood watch group site then surely others would have seen it

OP posts:
moto748e · 10/09/2025 23:51

It's daft, and she should have been much firmer with the "It's not my idea, I read it on whatever-it-was social media". There is surely no way in hell that Sonia is going to be Sally, so why the hell is she so cryptic, inviting suspicion?
I have a wild and crazy theory I'll chuck in: Sonia is actually a sister of the murdered boy (or something like that), and she is searching for Sally too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2025 01:14

We like theories

OP posts:
moto748e · 11/09/2025 01:31

Well, it would partially explain her having the Sally story on her laptop. I don't think a child-killer would be watching their old newspaper cuttings. But who knows how these crazy stories will go?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2025 09:26

I agree the killer wouldn’t be watching her stuff so can’t be her
