For when the first thread is full. I may be watching but won't be posting because I won't have access to a computer and I need the speed of a keyboard to get my opinion out there before I forget what it is.

It's not unpleasant. There's far more to a person's personality than their sexuality.

Edited

The sexuality of a camp man is almost always going to be somewhat front and centre. Are you suggesting that men like Kit should learn to hide their campness so it doesn't offend you?

My takeaway was of a person who strives to learn their craft and get better at it though every now and then their inexperience shows, annoying mistakes are made and frustration sets in. Of someone who is inherently sweet natured but with a lot of excited puppy about them, which, along with some anxiety can come across to some as arrogance. That person happens to a camp gay man.

I'm watching on iPlayer now, and wondering if Sara's trouser waistband pokes her in the boobs if she sits down? Perhaps she's just not sitting for the whole two days. Grin

I really like Yasmin and her very considered approach to research. Not just last night's outfit but also in Korean week when she made the detachable sleeves (and they were a very big challenge) because her research was that the outfit was worn for archery. I preferred her dress that week to Caz and would have liked her to have GOTW then as well. I think she is a very good technical sewer and has a good eye for fabric.

Orla is the most interesting and creative - her swirls in the transformation challenge showed a lot of flair (and I loved her giraffe applique in children's week). I also loved her top and shorts set in (I think) Korea week MTM - a very unique take on the brief. She's also a very good technical sewer.

Caz has years of experience and it has shown even over a talented field. (I loved her shortcut to pattern matching last night) She's also pretty unflappable and knows when to unpick and when to carry on. I don't always like her fabric choices but I can see how they would appeal to others and I think Esme respects her as an older lady who is prepared to be a bit "out there" sometimes. Last night was a bit of a shocker from her as well as she usually fits to the model so well. I'm sure she won't be repeating that mistake next week.

I think the editing means Caz goes into the final as the front runner given how many GOTW she has won but I really do think that anyone of the ladies could win and I would be happy with anyone winning as they are all amazing and creative.

I agree that Kit is probably an anxious person adopting a big persona to mask that. I quite liked him to start with but the "slutty club" remark really gave me the ick I'm afraid and after that he started to irritate me. I do also think he has been a bit of a teacher's pet and over praised in the transformation rounds. He is a good technical sewer and I think has the sort of brain that can visualise in 3D when a pattern is a bit counter intuitive - one reason why he is good at self drafting. However he doesn't have the wealth of experience that Caz can fall back on and that showed in some of his fabric choices - he chooses by colour when sometimes he should chose by other means - like the plus fours.

Spot on analysis.

I loved Yasmin's sailor dress, and as PP said, excellent research too. I love how considered she is, she is really coming into her own now.

But my favourite is still Caz. Her designs and fabrics are absolutely right up my street and Ive been very inspired by her.

I think Kit was overwhelmed at the last challenge. He is very, very good with pattern challenges and transformations so when the PC didn't work, I think it affected his confidence.

I still can't warm to Órla, I think it's because I am jealous of her ability at such a young age. I'm such a hag. Anyway, she looks to he enjoying herself and has done very well too.

It is a shame that scores aren't cumulative which would actually determine the best sewist

Agree

Am glad Kit's out mean. Never warmed to him and found him arrogant. Takes himself very seriously. I realised that the way he speaks reminds me of Gareth Malone.

He reminds me of my late sociopath brother. I get such a bad vibe off him. I'm glad he went.

No I'm not.

Yep. I've always said this.

He was so arrogant when he said he could make them without the instructions that I thought he was taking the piss, but he was serious!
His skills seem to have deteriorated or maybe the others have improved, but based on this week it was right he went.

Yes I thought he was very arrogant when he said he could make trousers.

KnickerlessParsons · 10/09/2025 19:06

When did seamster and seamstress get overtaken and replaced by the horrible word sewist?

swampwitch0 · 10/09/2025 19:14

Last night Kit reminded me of Peter (who I really liked) who - in the M2M didn't use a pattern, or measure his model!! 😬🙄

That's really nasty.

CrushingOnRubies · 10/09/2025 20:29

Gasp! I’m shocked 😮 I’ve just caught up I didn’t even consider Kit not getting to the final

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/09/2025 20:36

I did think that Kit would get to the final before this episode, but there were several things that I thought went wrong with the m2m dress. The blingy overlay wasn't just badly added because of lack of time, I also thought that it didn't fit the era in the way that it fell across the front. I think at the back it would have looked fine if he'd had time to do it properly but it ruined the line of the dress at the front and was never going to fit the late 20s aesthetic. It was a shame really that he didn't put a bit more research and planning into it, perhaps he didn't feel at the start of the series that he would make it as far as the semis so didn't put enough time and thought in.

It’s like he just ran out of sewing ability.

It was a bit shocking. I think 99% of people would have said he was a shoo in for the final.
He seemed to just...panic? He knew it didn't fit the model well, he knew the armholes were too big...he used a safety pin! The trim/lace was really horrible/cheap looking when compared to Caz's waistcoat lace, for example.
My dd and I thought that he seemed to give up, rather than pivot/alter his pattern?
I still say Orla should have won the TC!

Such a shame Kit went out this week. He’s been so good so often, and I think better than Caz over all. But on this week alone Caz beat him.

To be fair, she's beaten him a few times. And it wasn't just Caz who beat him this week, all three of the others did.

That's really nasty.

It wasn’t. It was the truth for many people and the post being removed doesn’t make it not true.

Kit had an agenda on the show and was loving the spotlight too much. It became way bigger than the real reason they’re all there and cost him his place in the finals.

Just because other people share your nasty opinion doesn't make that opinion a "truth" nor stop it being nasty.

You can't have a 'truth for many people '. Something's either true or it's not. Otherwise it's an opinion.

I reported the post. It was homophobic. Take it up with HQ instead of arguing here.
