For when the first thread is full. I may be watching but won't be posting because I won't have access to a computer and I need the speed of a keyboard to get my opinion out there before I forget what it is.

I’d quite like to a series where former winners return and compete against each other.
I know the annoying comedy skits attract much criticism (rightly so) but I also found the incidental music really irritating this series- with really random songs chosen because of very tenuous links to the garments or themes.
Not something I usually notice but I couldn’t stop noticing it once I had.
Also respect due to Caz for not mentioning her open heart surgery/ health issues way sooner and trying to create a whole narrative around it which seems to be what people are encouraged to do on these shows now, she just cracked on , had fun and made some great clothes.
Even in this episode she didn’t really say much about it.

They could have gone with the Reeves and Mortimer Diet Board for the made to measure. www.dailymotion.com/video/xy3br

I also thought it was telling that Kit wasn’t involved in any of the meet ups in the what they have all been doing but. I think he is a bit of a lone Wolf.
Although cynical me does wonder of the production company egg on the meet ups because it’s good for the the one big loving community vibe.

He did meet up with Dan and a few others but they didn't mention that on the show.

I think this is the first series where I’ve not been interested in making the items made on sewing bee. Normally there are at least one or two things that I’d like to have a go at. I wonder if it’s because everything has felt a bit more like costume this year

Oh, I loved that Tippi Hedrin style jacket they made. If I could actually see, I'd make loads of smart skirt suits with jackets like that for work.

I have one my mum bought. It's red and it fits me. Boiled wool.

I liked the stretch wrap dress. I bought vogue V2000 after seeing that

Haggisfish3 · 21/09/2025 21:16

Oh that was truly lovely.

Orla’s parents are amazing musicians. Creative family! www.brian-fionnag.com/

I just finished watching the show. I love it but I agree final made to order theme was not a good choice. I think Yasmin was the only one who hit the brief because the lace structure provide an optic illusion effect, while the other two were impressive to stitch but more structural than giving any sensory illusion. But I love each of them as finalist and would be happy to see any one of them win.

Also, wanted to ask if you are an absolute beginner with 0 sewing talent, what is the best way to start?

Haggisfish3 · 22/09/2025 17:02

I started by doing a beginners sewing course run by a local sewing shop. Was great because you learned with your actual machine and the lady showed us what to do.

deeahgwitch · 04/10/2025 16:20

Thank you for the link to Orla’s parents music website.

Couldn't agree more with the comments made regarding the ridiculous addition of unfunny staged theatrics and rehearsed 'ad libs' to the GB Sewing Bee. I'm certain, the majority of viewers would prefer to hear the host making occasional witty comments and taking a genuine interest in what's happening in the sewing room, rather than having to cringe at the stupid comments and antics the hosts are vomiting forth. I've also noticed that The GB Bake-off and The GB throw-down, now suffer with the same stupid behaviours. Does every TV programme have to appeal to 5 year olds? I think not......

HomeStadium · 06/12/2025 08:46

I went back to Farsely, to Sunny Bank Mills, for the Christmas market. We couldn't access what was the sewing room, last time, but this time that is where the market was held.
I reckon the first photo is the ‘runway’. I was quite excited to be there.
