Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

Did Iain just say he’s 49??! I’ll have what he’s having.

PrincessScarlett · 02/09/2025 20:33

He's 29 🤣🤣

NetZeroZealot · 02/09/2025 20:33

Ooh we had fondant fancies about 12 years ago

ALittleHumptyDumpty · 02/09/2025 20:33

excellent technical twist! Yay!

CrushingOnRubies · 02/09/2025 20:33

Ooo like the taste test they do in masterchef. Like a switch up like that

Pomer0l · 02/09/2025 20:34

No recipe! 😳 This is hard!

PeonyBulb · 02/09/2025 20:34

Aww I think I have a soft spot for Hassan

I hope he gets through

my favourite ones were the tartan and Queens uni

Pancakeflipper · 02/09/2025 20:34

I love a fondant fancy.

Hassan looks worried....

The E numbers in the signatures this year must be off the roof

Yes, I thought both the green tartan and the college picture were technically good but really unappetising.

What was the twist? I wasn’t concentrating

CrushingOnRubies · 02/09/2025 20:34

How are there left overs on that plate surely you would eat most of it

mumofoneAloneandwell · 02/09/2025 20:35

I'm gonna try and make a fondant fancy myself, looks like a fun bake

ALittleHumptyDumpty · 02/09/2025 20:35

naah… the ground almonds is a red herring. It’ll make the sponge too dense surely?

PeonyBulb · 02/09/2025 20:35

Mwah ha ha

They’re given extra ingredients which they won’t need and they have to go off tasting to decide what ingredients to use

midlifeattheoasis · 02/09/2025 20:36

I can never understand why people wear great big hoodies, thick jumpers or something with frilly sleeves on this programme?

GetSetFake · 02/09/2025 20:37

Really hard. I think most people would put ground almonds in. Having red herring ingredients is evil!

They were given a fondant fancy to replicate

Pomer0l · 02/09/2025 20:37

What’s with all the frilly cuffs! They’ll get in the way surely

Ellmau · 02/09/2025 20:37

LOL at the one they had trouble getting the knife in. That's the sort of comedy we need, not stupid costumes.

This is a fiendish idea for a technical - in week one!

Me neither ! It’s a hot marquee in May. I wouldn’t even think of wearing anything wooly or thick or with sleeves tbh
