Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

Never head of a Bacheran Glacé sp? Is it a fancy baked Alaska

I also had a search for it - apparently its an assembled meringue cake with the ices inside:

Vacherin

Featuring meringue, fruit and whipped or ice cream, this pavlova-like cake is the perfect summer dessert.

That was never 10 years ago

JewelleryCat · 14/10/2025 20:48

Oh that is funny from Iain

He will construct her from meringue.

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2025 20:50

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 14/10/2025 20:50

Ergh smug jasmine then

GetSetFake · 14/10/2025 20:50

I love it, I want him to have a star baker on the strength of it!

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2025 20:54

The state of Iain’s pinny. I thought I was messy

GetSetFake · 14/10/2025 20:56

Aw, Lesley.

Missed it, what did she do?

Poor Lesley.

How many times is this that Tom has done badly or averagely on day one and then pulled out a fancy looking show stopper? I’m not sure if its luck or if its the one thing he does really well.

JewelleryCat · 14/10/2025 20:58

So is Lesley going today then? Shame because she is a good baker

Hedjwitch · 14/10/2025 20:59

Lesley's a goner. Ian and Toby have done ok I think. I like both of them.
Jasmine is class swot.

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2025 20:59

I think Lesley just got knackered

GetSetFake · 14/10/2025 21:02

Love Aaron's fox. And I love a toffee like meringue. And lime and ginger!

Yes, and it looked terrible while he was making it so quite an achievement.

Wonder if the original Iain I watching and what he is thinking. Laughing crying or cross

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2025 21:05

Yay Lesley

Wolbutter · 14/10/2025 21:06

I would eat Lesley's meringue before any of the others .. especially the strong not sweet chocolate bun or banana cake tower! 🤢

GetSetFake · 14/10/2025 21:07

littlbrowndog · 14/10/2025 21:05

Yay Lesley

I thought she might have saved herself with her fabulous flavours but then they said it is meringue week and her meringue was underbaked - I think she'll probably go, sadly.
