Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

Oh Natalia

lettingthedaysgoby · 07/10/2025 21:11

Bum. I jinxed her

CrushingOnRubies · 07/10/2025 21:11

But that swan was amazing!!

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 21:11

Oh well done jasmine

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 21:12

Och Natalia really liked her

Wolbutter · 07/10/2025 21:12

Oh I loved Natalia!! And I wanted Lesley to be star baker. That's who's house I'd want to to go to for tea and cake!!

Zempy · 07/10/2025 21:12

Not happy. I love Natalia, and Lesley should have got star baker.

JewelleryCat · 07/10/2025 21:13

Ooo meringue week next week

Not2identifying · 07/10/2025 21:13

I'm sorry to see her go but so glad Aaron is staying. Such a lovely guy.

I think Lesley was robbed. Jasmine's pie looked amazing as a tree structure but the eating bit didn't look at all appealing.

Agree

I’m going to say Aaron, Tom
& Jasmine in the final, and then Jasmine will win.

GetSetFake · 07/10/2025 21:15

Yes, sad for Natalia but right decision and glad Aaron hung on in there. I'm surprised they didn't give Star Baker to Lesley, you'd think if it was that close they'd want someone new to have it. Jasmine is unbelievably good though.

I’d like Jasmine, Aaron and Lesley to be in the final.

Agree with all this but I’m mystified as to why the loser was “between Natalia and Aaron” with no mention of Tom. Overall he had more problems than Aaron this week and did worse than Natalia on the technical didn’t he?

I think Natalia has done amazingly, particularly considering how many technicals have been “typical” British and she had no idea what they were.

Not2identifying · 07/10/2025 21:22

I think Tom is a favourite with the judges.

They said he was in the danger zone but saved himself with his showstopper. It was visually stunning and tasted good. Fair enough.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Jasmine won't win
i think they do this every year
edit it to look like one person is a shoe in and then someone who's been trotting along quietly not getting as much attention pulls it out of the bag in the final
i may be way off the mark and happy to come back in a few weeks and eat some humble pie 🤣🤣

That was at the midway point wasn’t it?

Tom did a good show stopper but had a disaster on day one. Aaron had a good day one and had one flavour issue on the show stopper. Others have done decent show stoppers and it hasn’t saved them from a really bad first day.

I really didn’t see why Tom was automatically through on the show stopper and Aaron was at the bottom for one problem on day 2. It seems inconsistent.

How is Jasmine so stunningly good but not annoying? Maybe because we know she's overcome a real challenge with the alopecia? Or is she just quietly confident without being arrogant? She's so calm and so talented.

I find her annoying, sorry. And she is posh though that's a thing often seen with medical students. I did think when she was talking about fruit trees 'that's an orchard you're describing'. She is very good though. But I'd like to see Aaron win.

cordelia16 · 07/10/2025 21:41

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 21:14

Agree

Was it Prue who said it was an eating competition (as opposed to design), and yet they chose Jasmine as Star Baker when hers was arguably one of the least tasty?? I don't get it. I really wanted Lesley to get Star Baker. They loved her flavours.

Ellmau · 07/10/2025 21:54

Lesley was robbed.

I do like Jasmine, but she is so favoured by the judges I wish I didn't.

Hedjwitch · 07/10/2025 21:56

Glad to see Toby still in,I love him. Jasmine is very irritating and Lesley was robbed this week.

It's often been observed that the Showstopper counts for more than the Signature and you can have a terrible Technical and still do well overall. To the point that people have questioned whether the Technical actually counts for anything at all. So the Showstopper can definitely save you. Or send you home after a good day one.

@lettingthedaysgoby

Thank you for that re the swans.

Sadly that now makes sense a comment made to me by a fellow dog walker in our local park ( with a lovely boating pond with swans / ducks etc. )
