Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

I like that Pru isn't afraid to disagree with Paul.

I think Jasmine will win.

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 20:22

I love the Jamaican pastry

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 20:24

Ooh a gala pie. Gorgeous

Does anyone have a favourite to win the whole bake off?

I like them all, really - I'd be pleased if Nataliia won, or Lesley - but I think it will be Tom or Jasmine (maybe with Toby in the final).

Not2identifying · 07/10/2025 20:26

I have never heard of a gala pie.

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 20:26

They are very common in Scotland. We love a pie of all sorts

Pancakeflipper · 07/10/2025 20:27

Oh perfect Tom wasn't fully perfect. It didn't look appetising.

But Aaron's did.

Peachy2005 · 07/10/2025 20:27

A lot of meat tonight. Presumably the Showstopper will be sweet…

littlbrowndog · 07/10/2025 20:29

Omg put the steam hole in

That's just been shouted at the screen here, too

Florencesndzebedee · 07/10/2025 20:30

Tom is very competitive. He comes across as over confident.

Piccalilli.... my grandma made gorgeous Piccalilli and I hate any other version. Needs to be the yellow of baby poo.

lettingthedaysgoby · 07/10/2025 20:31

That piccalili won't have time to pickle... 🙄

Hot gala pie? No jelly? Sacrilege... (Mind you, I think hot pork pie may be a northern thing)
