Boat Story (not about the obvious)
really good quirky/offbeat series
Adam Gillen who played Liam in Benidorm (!) plays a totally different role and main star is Adrien Lester.

Is that the one with Daisy Haggard?

Of course, Gosford Park is top tier murder mystery film with an entire cast of a-listers. If you haven’t seen that you should absolutely go straight to it!

Yes!
And The Scapegoat, Ordeal by Innocence, Witness for the Prosecution.
Also, slightly less murder mystery, but the remake of Rebecca with Lily James and Kristen Scott-Thomas.

I’ve been watching Madame Blanc mysteries on Netflix recently, missed it first time round, it’s very camp, not exactly well made but well acted.

I was going to say this also. I really enjoyed it. Also developed a bit of a crush on Caron. Thought the characters of Jeremy and Judith were marvellous.

Cinaferna · 17/08/2025 22:27

Sally Lindsay's Madame Blanc is cosy crime. And her stand-alone series Love Rat was fun in a very kitsch way too.

There's also Shakespeare and Hathaway, Beyond Paradise, the Cormoran Strike series and if you don't mind something being a bit old-fashioned, about 8 series of Monk, the OCD detective. Some of the stories are very Luther-like puzzling mysteries and the lead actor is genius.

Brokenwood Mysteries it’s like an Australian Midsomer Murders

Australian!!!!????? It's an NZ show.

Skissors · 17/08/2025 22:32

Poker Face is good.
Agatha Raisin
A good girls guide to murder

Cinaferna · 17/08/2025 22:32

Shetland is good too. Love the secondary characters - Mark Bonnar as the dodgy brother and Steven Robertson as Sandy the very serious over-enthusiastic copper.

Gagamama2 · 18/08/2025 08:07

I suppose you could count Wednesday as a murder series. We started watching series 2 yesterday, and the first episode was just as good as series 1 so high hopes again! It’s def kitsch in its own way 😂

nickyschof · 18/08/2025 09:05

Signora Volpe on Acorn TV is fantastic. It stars Amelia Fox as a retired MI6 spy living in Italy.

DiordreBarlow · 18/08/2025 09:56

Not crime, but definitely cosy - Under the Vines.

redlightgreenlight123 · 18/08/2025 10:08

Magpie murders

Acunningruse · 18/08/2025 12:01

Came on to recommend the previous 3 mentioned! Death valley is so kitsch but Timothy Spall is fantastic.
We loved Only Murders in the Building and Ludwig.
We loved the first 2 series of McDonald and Dodds but the last one was just silly.
