For the Columbo fans, I recommend Tim Vine rediscovers Columbo on YouTube. It's wonderful

Harrow is good on Disney.

I made a note of that. Love Columbo. Even got the full box set.

Cut to the end. I can’t keep up with Bookish! Who is everyone? I admit to a degree of face-blindness.

Fgfgfg · 16/08/2025 20:16

Sister Boniface - female Father Brown
The Chelsea Detective
Annika
Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries

PInkyStarfish · 16/08/2025 20:21

My favourite is The Charmer (1987) with Nigel Havers. It’s just wonderful.

DiordreBarlow · 16/08/2025 20:27

Another good oldie is The Last Detective with Peter Davidson and Sean Hughes.

FakeMews · 16/08/2025 20:27

Lots of the above.
I don't think anyone has mentioned My Life is Murder - New Zealand humour and crime.
Frankie Drake - similar to Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries but set in 1920s Toronto

Imsixtyandiknowit · 16/08/2025 20:36

Annika on the beeb is quite good but not kitsch

CalzoneOnLegs · 17/08/2025 13:51

Brokenwood Mysteries it’s like an Australian Midsomer Murders

I like Elsbeth (American and quirky). They have a guest star each show, who usually is the murderer!

I second Only Murders and Magpie Murders, too. Bookish is on my list to watch. Anyone watched the Puzzle Lady - or something like that - yet?

Edited

Yeah watched the Puzzle Lady. It wasn't great really. Wouldn't recommend.

The original Miss Marple - with Joan Hickson

Yes, currently being repeated on BBC so probably on i player for a bit. Some better than others but Joan Hickson is magnificent all the way through.

Great, I won't bother. I think it was on channel 5, which I haven't set up an account for. You've saved me the bother there. Thanks.

Brokenwood Mysteries it’s like an Australian Midsomer Murders

It's based in New Zealand but was the first show I thought of for this list too. I love how they lean into the number of murders happening on one small town, with so many recurring characters popping up all the time.

Yes and the detective character was genius and very original
