Anyone planning on watching this?

Rob Brydon hosts as contestants are driven around Europe in a blacked out bus, trying to guess where they are. I’ve seen clips of the US Version, it might be good!

They'll probably all guess Athens rather than Olympia though, which is at the other end of the country from the capital. And, confusingly, even further from Mount Olympus. I'm looking forward to it already! 😁

crumblingschools · 09/08/2025 21:13

The trailer seems to show them wearing decorative masks, could be linked to Venice masked ball

Or a clue that they are in Italy!!

Plasticwaste · 09/08/2025 23:29

I still don't really get the clues, tbh. There were some for Vienna, some for Salzburg, but the answer was Werfern.

Things the new bloke doesn't know: horseshoes, tally marks, the Sound of Music and its actors, Salzburg.

BlueyNeedsToFuckOff · 09/08/2025 23:36

I am assuming it was Werfen rather than Salzburg as the actual destination to avoid the possibility of a tie if everyone had chosen Salzburg.

Probably the clues were to Salzburg as it’s the nearest town people outside Austria are likely to have heard of (well, unless you’re the new guy). And also having googled it, Werfen is in the state of Salzburg anyway.

I can forgive him not knowing the Sound of Music. It’s a really old film. If he’s 22 then I’m old enough to be his mum and I’ve only seen it once. There is no reason he would know it.

Horse shoes though?
And tally marks?
And when they were asked how many stag's heads were in the courtyard, he replied that he "didn't really understand the question".

He is one of those people who has measured his intelligence in a vacuum of TikTok, Blokes from Love Island and his mates and come out quite well. What he hasn't done is test his intelligence, general knowledge and common sense against a backdrop of people who read books and make an effort to keep learning.

I don't care if that sounds judgy. I am judging.

bizzey · 10/08/2025 14:10

He said he was going to hide his intelligence from the rest of the team ...

If he meant us at home as well ..he is doing a very good job !

I think his issue is not listening/understanding a wider conversation and picking up on the main points of that conversation.

He may be very super dooper intelligent to be able to disipher mathematical codes and problems ....

But it is the simple sentences that cause him problems .

#team Daren or Judith 😀😀!

SwedishEdith · 10/08/2025 14:51

I'm reluctant to say who I would like to win as every time I back someone, they lose. I think Nick is still in front in being honest that it's a game and not being stupid. I like Judith but she'll need to become a bit more ruthless to win. I've forgotten his name but the pilot is playing a good game. I think he's smarter than he's showing to the rest of the group. Daren is a cutie but, surely, you can't win just because everyone else loses 😀 Well, you can but... Don't want Saskia to win as immature about loyalties etc. No strong opinions yet about the rest except clearly Ashvin is not going to win.

Piknik · 10/08/2025 15:14

I like copper/army woman

she didn’t hesitate in sharing her sound of music clue/theory

And she was happy to step back and not take a key when they’re in the castle.

she seems to combine fairness and common sense and I like that.

I agree pilot is keeping his cards close to his chest and that Nick is smart and quite likeable – I am happy for any of those to win Quite like Judith, but she needs to change her gameplay

I am worrying about Daren watching this back He’s quite emotional and very touched whenever he feels chosen, and I think it will be quite crushing for him to realise that he was viewed as the least threatening person and that was the reason why he often got picked

Edited

Horse shoes and tally marks I can’t forgive, especially as tally marks are taught in school. But I don’t think that knowing the Sound of Music is the same. It’s a 60 year old film. It’s like me knowing where Gone with the Wind was filmed.

I agree. I like her and I like how fair she is being. You can tell she forces/police, it’s all for the team, but I do think this will be her undoing. She was a detective, she gets a lead and her first thought is to share it. She is going to have to learn not to do that. I think someone will catch on that she is the smartest one there and take her to one side and advise her of not sharing in the hope that she shares with them.

BlueyNeedsToFuckOff · 10/08/2025 16:41

I like her but nobody is going to listen to her (except possibly Daren) because she is a middle aged woman.

Which makes her a strong contender to win IMO

True, unless anything relies on group work to get clues.

At the moment I’d settle for anyone other than Nick or Saskia to win, though

Just started on this and on episode 2. Can I check what episode you're all on?

Episode 4 - they do 2 a week so it was 3 and 4 last week

User478 · 11/08/2025 00:01

I have questions about Jackie P:
Is there another Jackie?
Is it short for Jacket Potato?
I bet she had a lovely break while they were filming this, I hope she didn't have to babysit the small potatoes too much.

Karmaisagod · 11/08/2025 11:22

Why are the existing players (refuse to call them the OGs) kind of neglecting Judith so much? It seems very marked - she has noticed and seems hurt, and I would be, too, in her place. Have I missed something specific, or is it just that she is quieter, contributes less?

BestIsWest · 11/08/2025 11:32

My money’s on Florence. As you say Venice would be difficult.

I think she just doesn't fit in with the rest of them. She seems a bit 'aloof' and maybe a bit closed off. I feel a bit sorry for her. I get a bit of a 'mean girl ' vibe from Saskia, which may also be part of it. Are they the only women left from the original group too?

cakeorwine · 11/08/2025 12:35

Don't forget it's all edited - and if we are to believe it, they are on the bus for a long time together, so there is a lot we don't see.

NCTDN · 11/08/2025 13:59

I don’t get how they seem to be able to spread out so much on that bus either.

Karmaisagod · 11/08/2025 16:10

Yes, I get a massive "mean girl" vibe from Saskia, too. And all the men play right into it, which irritates me. I don't know who's I want to win because of that.

NewAgeNewMe · 11/08/2025 21:27

Bless Judith she seemed so happy to be picked by Chloe. Sad to see her go. Agree about Saskia but it could be editing.
