I hadn't seen the Cheeky Monkeys until that link. I only saw a couple of acts on that night that must be why I missed Flava They were good. There's too many good acts!!

MummyPenguin · 30/05/2008 10:46

There's something very irritating about that Faryl, and she's so old fashioned, not in just that she looks older than 12, but there really is something very old fashioned about her. I don't actually think she's as good as Simon seems to think she is, but then he can probably see the potential and £'s that he can make out of her.

BGT has ended up with mostly singers and dancers which just makes it a bit dull. I'd like to see Strike (the sexy karate guys) or Kate and Gin win as it would be something different. There's no way the irritatingcheeky monkeys should have been put through over Flava. Charlie Green basically fucked up with the song choice, didn't he? Whoever is making his decisions should have seen that one coming.

lottiejenkins · 30/05/2008 10:50

I think Faryl has a phenomenal voice for her age! She is a highly talented young lady who deserves to do very well. I must say however that i am backing Andrew the singing plumber... I so so want him to do well, I like George too but think Andrew is excellent.

Molesworth · 30/05/2008 10:59

Well, I'd like to see Signature win

Faryl does have an amazing voice though.

CrazyMofo · 30/05/2008 12:45

Shouldnt we be saving the singers for x-factor?

This is a variety show, lets see some bloody variety!!

PortBlacksandResident · 30/05/2008 12:58

I don't like Faryl's voice at all - she sounds like she's got a big glob of phlegm in the back of her throat. Andrew i could listen to even though it's not my kind of music.

.......go GIN!

(Or Signature.)

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 13:04

has anyone noticed how it's always the last act that wins on the public vote? .

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 13:05

also, I do wonder if some of them have just been put through for the humilliation factor - like that bloke on the keyboard on Monday night.

wheresthehamster · 30/05/2008 13:09

I'd love to know how a) they determine who goes in the semi-finals against each other and b) the running order because, as you say, the last act is always the strongest.

I think the judges know before the semi-finals who they want in the final and must have some input as to how to 'lead' the public.

It will be interesting tonight to see if either the violinists or the girl singer go last. It will PROVE we know what's going on

wheresthehamster · 30/05/2008 13:10

I think there has been a 'humiliation' act every night. Tonight it's the big woman's turn

smartiejake · 30/05/2008 13:16

I think they deliberately put the best acts at the end- most likely to get more votes as more fresh in the mind.

Last night's semi wasn't that great.

One thing that has struck me about the singers particularly is how much better they are than most of the x factor contestants. All of them have been spot on pitch wise and could give quite a few of last years x factor finalists a run for their money.

CrazyMofo · 30/05/2008 13:23

I dont get all the hype with the plumber guy!

Yes his voice is ok, but he's not that amazing!

I hope the violinists get through, and kate and gin to win

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 14:08

they have to put some truely bad acts through to reduce the competition. With 8 acts in one night, if they're all equally good there's no way to manipulate the voting audience to vote for the "right" one.

And if all else fails, ITV is no stranger to phone vote rigging .

Smartiejake how good you are has no bearing on whether you make it through to the x-factor finals. it all has to do with whether your face fits/whether you have a sob story which will indeer you to the public.

Having auditioned for x factory this year I can tell you that good acts are rejected without being given a reason why (and I'm not referring to myself, but some of the groups I heard and who obviously did have talent but didn't get through).

Would be interested to know if bgt does their auditions in the same way, ie three auditions before getting through to "audition" in front of the live audience and the judges. Am ve tempted to apply next year to find out.

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 14:11

also, it's quite possible some of the good singers on bgt don't apply for x factor because of the amount of commitment it involves, ie if you get through the numerous auditions you have to do a couple of days in bootcamp/few days at the house of your associated judge and then 12 weeks singing in the live shows. For some that's a commitment they just can't afford.

lottiejenkins · 30/05/2008 14:39

The hype with the plumber is because he's cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!

GordontheGopher · 30/05/2008 20:24

I can't believe it's not on til 9pm. I'm usually in bed by then .
