Voting
Britain's Got Talent bosses have been accused of fixing the show by manipulating the viewers? vote, by the fans. In all five semi-finals of series 2 in a row, the semi-finalist performing last, has made it through to the over-all final. The same thing happened in the first series, with the last performer recieving the top acclaim, including in the final. Readers of the Daily Star say complaints have been flooding in, but bosses have denied all allegations. A spokeswoman for the hit TV show claimed that the pattern noticed by viewers was ?nothing more than a coincidence?. She also added: ?The judges have no say over the running order on the show."[34][35]

I have enjoyed the show all week but for some reason tonight it has P'ed me right off... seemed too serious and such a bloody set up. God I wish the hola hooper had got through

Crystaltipsandalaistar · 30/05/2008 22:54

i don't think it's fair they are allowed to buzz in the semi finals - it puts them off so much -look at the footballer, and then tonight the singers - bound to make you go wrong even more!
I'd clocked the voting pattern last night too!

3andnomore · 30/05/2008 22:55

Well, am I the only one to get sick of the "sobstories"? I mean, honest....surely they are kinda besides the point. I mean, you either got talent or you haven't....!
Also, has anyone else wondered if they let some truely "crap" acts through and put them in nicely all over the place, so, that they kinda knew who would at least be in the final 3 each night?
Tonight it was obvious that Escada would win, and I think they have a chance to win the final, and they are fabulously talented and I would be happy with the choice...but honest....how can acts like that Anya woman compete with that?

Another thing...sorry in ranting mode, lol...but whilst I absolutely think that faryl Smith is a wonderfully talented young girl, it really annoys me how the press drag Charlotte Church into it, i.e. people saying, Charlotte who, basically Faryl much more talented....I mean, why do they do that...because surely Charlotte was/is also so talented....why not just say, Faryl is as good as...why slagging Charlotte Church off....?

littleboyblue · 30/05/2008 23:00

All the acts I wanted to go thru didn't make it! I loved Flava and the hula-hoops. They must seriously plan who's going on each show so even though we "control" a phone-in vote, it a massive mind play and it all been carefully grafted so we actually have no control at all. KWIM?
Simon looked very torn at end though!

Eve34 · 30/05/2008 23:04

I agree, there are some rubbish on over the week, making it obvious who would be going through. Although saying that the acts I like are all in. I think escala will win, but they are not one of my choices.

misdee · 30/05/2008 23:06

i am actually hoping George wins. but really wished hooplala and flava had gotton through as i adored both of those acts.

Crystaltipsandalaistar · 30/05/2008 23:07

The sob story for the singer (Madonna?) really got on my nerves tonight too......

3andnomore · 30/05/2008 23:14

oh, I did like Flava...and thought they were better or as good as nemesis...but they wanted nemesis to be without a competetor, I think...cynic...me....

Indeed the Madonna Sob story got a bit much....whilst I appreciate her hardship...but, in her first audition she was so great, so unexpectedly great...and Simon was right, tonight she wasn't on teh ball!

and ooops it's Escala, not escada (that would be a perfume, lol)

oh, but that Tesco Worker/singer got a bit weird, didn't he...fair enough, I don't think they should be using the buzzers on the semi finals...BUT....gosh...lovely they were, but they were out of tune....

wannaBe · 30/05/2008 23:15

you have to have a sob story to get through.

it's too late to find it now, but I came across a post re x factor the other day from someone whose daughter had auditioned and got through to the 3rd audition, at which point she was taken to a room and asked why she was there, and what she had achieved in her life (she wa only 14) and whether she had a sob story basically. She said she didn't and that she was there because she wanted to sing, and because of that she wasn't permitted to continue, because she didn't have a sob story.

Anyone who thinks these chows are genuine and that people get in based on their talents is being misled big time.

You just have to look at the absolute shite that has been on this week, like that absolutely ghastly keyboard player from monday. Out of thousands of auditions, that cannot possibly have been the best there was.

littleboyblue · 30/05/2008 23:16

The Tesco workers really made me laugh. It must be awful to be up there and here buzzers, I did laugh though. Am I a big meanie!

Yurtgirl · 30/05/2008 23:17

I didnt see nemesis but I loved flava and am really quite grrrrrrrr that they didnt get through

I reckon it would be better for the semis to group all the dance acts tog etc - would be a fairer comparison then

smartiejake · 31/05/2008 12:47

I just wanted to slap those tesco boys (can't remember their names) They were like petulant toddlers. To think there have been many young kids in the semi finals this week who were let down and none of them have behaved like they did.

Such a shame they didn't let the comedian through. The whole final is singing and dancing (including the dog) Not much variety.

Thought Nemesis were nothing compared to flava- very run of the mill.

VERY glad that Madonna singer didn't get through. Her voice was awful and the pictures of her kids up at the back just yuk.

DD said to me- if she loves her kids so much why has she left them behind and not seen them for 18months?

maidamess · 31/05/2008 12:59

Does anyone think the standard of camera work has been appalling? I have seen George Sampsons dance routine a couple of times (my kids keep watching it on youtube) and the camera was filming him from the waist up or from 300 metres away, or watching Cowells reaction.

That kid has practised and practised and the editing did it no justice.

So there.

glinda · 31/05/2008 13:24

Totally agree Maidamess. Camera work has been terrible for the dancers especially.

Great idea from Yurt to have specialist semi finals - best comic, dance act, adult vocalist, child vocalist and novelty act maybe?

Freckle · 31/05/2008 14:44

Yes, the camera work has been diabolical. How is the public supposed to vote if they only get to see part of the act or only get to see it in snippets or from a particular angle? We should be able to see what the live audience is seeing. And I really don't care what Simon's facial expression is.

littleboyblue · 31/05/2008 14:52

Can't wait for tonight! Remember it's on at 6:50 today which is ds bath and bedtime. Is it incredbly selfish ofme to keep him up late or put him down early so I can watch tv!? Awful isn't it. He'll understand in a few years.

CrazyMofo · 31/05/2008 14:55

Lol littleboyblue- i always keep dd up on a sat night in fear i will miss something, i dont think she minds though

littleboyblue · 31/05/2008 15:00

Oh good, feel better knowing I'm not on my own. Hahaha. Think we should all write in to ITV and let them know just how selfish they all are putting the good stuff on at that time. So many more viewers if they took kids bedtime into consideration!!

wannaBe · 31/05/2008 15:11

the two guys from tesco behaved apawlingly. Didn't see it but apparently they didn't even applaud the other acts that went through at the end. Disgraceful. Talk about bad losers.

If you want to make it in the music industry you have to be able to take criticism. If not you won't make it very far.

schneebly · 31/05/2008 15:19

agree - per diem behaved appalingly. SmartieJake - you hit the nail on the head with 'petulant toddlers'

nikos · 31/05/2008 15:41

I'm really enjoying the programmes but suspect a bit of a fix. Escala have already toured as support to a boy band. Could Simon have signed them up already and staging the whole thing so they win and increase record sale profits? Seems a sure thing they'll win. They also seem to make sure there are enough acts to appeal to the widest phone in audience.
So tonight we have contestants for animal lovers, serious music lovers, teen audience etc.

schneebly · 31/05/2008 15:42

nikos - I am enjoying it too but deffo all fixed/rigged!

Freckle · 31/05/2008 16:14

Also Simon commented that Escala were a very original act, but they seem to be an almost exact copy of Bond.

lottiejenkins · 31/05/2008 16:27

One of Escala is going out with one of Mcfly.... i heard that a couple of weeks ago. If they have been a support act already that surely gives them an unfair advantage??
