OMG, can't they all just learn to get along?! 😩

Another few weeks of snoozeworthy arguing and attention-seeking to go - from these brats!

As you were folks!

Sorry I know I’m really behind so probably of no interest but I just watched the return of Megan when she caught up with Meg and hels. It was so obvious Meg is quite dumb. She couldn’t seem to grasp any of Megan’s concept and just kept saying “we’re boyfriend girlfriend now.” It was a bit shocking

See, I thought Megan finally made her have the tiniest little flicker of a lightbulb moment when she said this but by the next episode if not before she was back blowing smoke up his arse again. I wonder how she’ll take feedback from her family and friends.

I watch while juggling my newborn and occasionally leaving the room to see to my toddler who doesn’t like sleeping 😅 so I’m probably no good judge - especially given so much of our communication is non-verbal.

Re: picking sides, I don’t know if I … If I had to pick, I’d be Team Toni and co but I do sometimes feel sorry for Meg - and Helena too last week. On the other hand, I was often find Toni abrasive, Shakira a bit mopey and Yasmin can make me roll my eyes with her “No, really, I’m a dominatrix” alter ego. So true that she’s like Jay from the Inberweeners. 😆 But I find these three more likeable.

Yeah and that’s what’s so annoying about love island . The ones not being fake being young and making mistakes like Harrison are destroyed by the media condemned by women’s aid and the fake ones meanwhile playing the game saying all the right things are possibly as fake as hell like Emily and Cash. I don’t know whether he was really crying for Tony or his own ego.

Hmmm, yeah you do have a point. I'll stick my neck out here and say I think the womens aid warning about Harrison (who was just behaving like some 22 y.o. young men would behave,) was OTT and unneccesary. He's not a monster. He's just a young man who messes women about a bit because he can't make his mind up about which one he wants. Not justifying his behaviour, but I think the womens aid statement was not needed.

Also, I find Harry, and his behaviour FAR worse than Harrison's has been at any point. And Dejon is no Angel either! Yet no womens aid statement about them. Why not? Confused

I don’t think there has ever been such a divide in opinions about some of the contestants before. It feels like there is Team Shakira, Toni and Yasmin and then Team Helena and Meg and both sides are utterly convinced that their opinion is the right one.

Personally, I am loving Shakira, Toni and Yas and just feel totally indifferent to the other girls. I just feel like they come across a lot more genuine, emotionally articulate and sorry to say but even more intelligent in general than the others. As for the comments all over Facebook about them being mean girls and witches, I just can’t see it myself. Yeah they’ve said some bitchy comments but to be honest, I could totally see myself and my besties having these kind of debriefs with each other and saying some not very nice things about people who have hurt us or just pissed us off. It’s the stuff you say that you think won’t ever get repeated or shared in front of the people it’s about. Anyone who says they don’t talk shit behind someone’s backs I’m sorry I just refuse to believe it. I’m not a confrontational person, I’d rather have a little bitch and a vent to my mates and then move on and distance myself than actually confront someone and get into a row and waste my energy. I feel like Shakira and Toni do that between themselves and probably are nice to the others faces, purely for an easy life of living together in the villa. I really don’t think it’s that deep but the others are so offended by it yet do the exact same thing about them.

It’s the stuff you say that you think won’t ever get repeated or shared in front of the people it’s about

Its not very intelligent to do it when your conversation is being recorded for tv though!!
To be honest it's not really the stuff I would say to my friends but I am a lot older than them and more emotionally mature I would hope.
I understand they are young and can forgive a few bitchy comments but it was their reaction when these were shown that revealed their immaturity to me. They rolled their eyes and smirked, offered no apology when it was clear their comments had hugely upset Meg.

Emily also said that they were rolling their eyes and smirking at each other when she talked in the dressing room etc. I think this type of behaviour is very schoolgirl immature vibes.

I'm not a huge Meg fan but I think the comments calling her "stupid" are out of line. None of these girls are perfect but one group are certainly no better than the other.

Also remember conversations are staged and footage is used to suit the producers narrative.

I presume they'll still send the families in this time? I know a lot find this boring but I think it'll be interesting this year. I'm not keen on Mug obviously but I do hope she has a good family network around her and whoever goes in for her doesn't sit there being polite in front of Mustard.

Also intrigued to see what dragged up Harry.

Blueyshift · 27/07/2025 09:33

Aquarius1234 · 26/07/2025 10:13

Im the opposite. It's a game and very fake.

It is. This is why I prefer the Saturday night show. I think if we saw mlre of this the votes would possibly be different. It's all so set up.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Mug, but the onslaught against her on social media is fierce. Some proper rancid comments on Instagram!

I only use FB and don't tend to read the comments on there as they're generally left by pond life anyway. I do hope Mustard is getting more crap than Mug is though.

None of the contestants are evil, yes the boys have behaved awfully and the girls (all of them) can be bitchy but they are living in a villa and with these people 24/7, of course there will be drama even without the producers stirring shit up.

Meg and D, yes D is a bit of a dick and stirs the pot a lot but he's not done anything awful, he's obviously holding some misogynistic views and I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole but no worse than a lot of young men. He probably is playing a game with Meg to win but that's the purpose of the show. Yes, Meg is a bit thick but I also think she's playing a game as she looks bored of D half the time so I don't feel bad for her.

Helena is deeply insecure but she's played the game with Harry and she fucked around and definitely found out.

Most of them are young 20 somethings without any real life experiences and now on show for the world to see, people are trolling them online and it's awful.

I have hated the ways the boys have played the women but a women's aid statement about a 22 year old lad who is on a gameshow was OTT. He's just a young idiot with a massive ego not an abusive man. I hope he's humbled now he's out and starts to respect women. The same with Harry, he's just a moron with a big ego who thinks he's God gift to women, I'm glad the clips were shown and it's started conversations around respecting women but bloody hell, you'd think he'd sacrificed a puppy live on TV.

whyschoolwhy · 27/07/2025 10:34

Was there a statement specifically about Harrison? I haven't seen that, just the general one about the men on LI.

I don't agree that it was OTT. I assume many of you have watched Adolesence? The whole point is that media and pop culture influences matter when it comes to male attitudes towards women. WA didn't suggest a crime had been committed, but they did highlight troubling behaviour which I think is important.

I actually think that’s what adds to their authenticity. They have a close and genuine friendship and don’t care that the cameras are there. If they want to get together and bitch and moan about the events of the night and say some off the cuff remarks to each other then they do. They own it and laugh it off because it’s probably a bit awkward in the moment on the big screen. It appears Meg can give it out but can’t take it without getting emotional and crying. Toni and Shakira can dust theirselves off or cry between each other where none of the others see it.

I don’t dislike Meg or Helena. Yeah Helena was a bit shady going after Harry but that’s also the nature of the show. Meg does actually have a bit of a spiteful tongue to her in my opinion. Calling Emily a twat in the dressing room because she didn’t want to answer Meg’s probes about Harry or whatever it was, was just so unnecessary. She was aggressive towards Yasmin with the whole ‘do you think you’re threatening me’. Like I say, I don’t dislike Meg but equally I can’t understand why Team Meg refuse to even acknowledge any of her own nasty and bitchy behaviour. Both sets of girls are as bad as each other for having a bitch and a moan, but there’s something a lot more authentic and genuine about Toni and Shakira in my opinion.

I have seen it and I think it's great that conversations are being had around male toxicity and respecting women as it's like the wild West out there for women/girls these days. Having said that it's a gameshow, it's set up and these are young men exploring as they are expected to on LI and the girls have also engaged in this.

It's not a real life scenario, they are in a villa probably bored and it creates a situation that's not healthy leading to toxic behaviours by all of them. I think the trolling of them all online isn't fair because of the artificial environment that they are in and the expectations and the purpose of the show. They are meant to get into love triangles, it's why we all watch it.

I think they are doing it because they think they are popular and can get away with it. I think the eye rolling and smirks are awful.
I don't see it as authentic, I see it as very immature.

Completely agree. Dejon is the worst. Womens aid only released that because Lauren was crying etc. meg reacts differently and therefore womens aid didn’t feel the need
to issue a statement. If Lauren wasn’t with Dejon and crying a statement would have been issued about Dejon

I agree.

Toni and Shakira do what we'd all do with our best friend.

I think because their friendship comes across as very genuine, they have clicked with each other and they are like two old friends eyerolling with each other. Its this friendship that differentiates things. Meg and Helena aren't friends with each other. Their bitching about the others is what unites them whereas Toni and Shakira have friendship first. I believe this is the reason Toni and Shakira's eyerolling doesn't come across as spiteful as Meg's does.

They certainly don't bring about the best in each other as they are very very bitchy together. Not really how I would chat with my friends but maybe some people see themselves in their friendship.
Personally I don't think having a friendship justifies rolling your eyes and sneering at others, I think that really isolates people and makes others very uncomfortable. I feel it just shows their immaturity.

I'm sure they do many more things but this is what makes the edit, and also I'm sure IRL like all of our friends, they'd be way more wide-ranging, but trapped in the villa 24/7 is very different. If you and your BFF were stuck in there, under emotional pressure with people you didn't gel with and constant conflict was being manufactured, even you might stoop to a bit of bitching and eye-rolling.

jay55 · 27/07/2025 15:23

I’d have been committed or committed murder if I was in there living with those people with no escape for weeks.
Don’t begrudge any of them some bitching and eye rolling.

I agree with this. I know Toni, Yaz, and Shakira aren't perfect, and can be a little bitchy/eye-rolly, but I find myself liking them more than Meg and Helena.

I just can't warm to Meg at all, and haven't liked her all the way through this series. I go from liking Toni to disliking her a bit, then liking her again. I didn't like Yaz to start with, but she's grown on me quite a bit.

Same with Shakira.

I have NEVER liked Meg. Helena I am indifferent to. I have disliked her now and again, but never really liked her. As I said earlier though, she deserves better than Harry.

I know right. I would be driven mad if I was with my DH 24/7. 😂I'm sure many others feel the same. It's not healthy to be with someone 24/7.

EmmaRose89 · 27/07/2025 15:29

It's certainly true that not everything makes the edit and I do think that this divide has been exaggerated by the producers. I think it is awful how this has been done because the level of hate people like Meg have received is awful.

As I said previously I can forgive a bit of bitching to each other, but it's their eye rolling, smirking at each other in front of others which I feel is very immature. It is very isolating and reminds me of schoolgirl behaviour. Meg was clearly very upset about what they said about her and they just smirked at each other, laughed and rolled their eyes. It was the same with Emily, they didnt like her so thought it was ok to smirk and roll their eyes at each other when she spoke. I think Toni's behaviour especially towards Emily was disgraceful, I had liked her up until that point.

I don't want to be so negative though, I think Shakira especially has shown lots of positive traits, just a bit of immaturity and she is still very young.

Yes I think Toni has really brought out Shakiras bad side. I would be disappointed to see Toni win although not sure who I would like to win.
