OMG, can't they all just learn to get along?! 😩

Another few weeks of snoozeworthy arguing and attention-seeking to go - from these brats!

As you were folks!

I absolutely agree with everything you have said.

At the end of the day, LI is a reality gameshow. Lots of people for example, have said how much better it would have been if the casa amor boys had been in from the start. Would it though? Don't get me wrong, I adore Cach, Ty and Jamie. I think they are amazing, decent humans but if they had been OG's then it would have been boring. They would have chosen a girl, stuck with her, been respectful, not had their heads turned etc etc and then everyone would say how dull the show was.

We need the Harrys, Dejons, Harrisons, Meg, Toni, Helena and Shakira characters to give us entertainment and drama. Its a TV show!!! Don't we all tune in for the hijinks and flirting, the fall outs and the drama as much as all the lovey dovey stuff, if not more so!?

I definitely do not condone the behaviour of the likes of Harry and Dejon but its been great TV and the series would not have been what it has been without the bad boys, as well as the good boys (bad girls and good girls too)

I have loved this season, we have had a bit of everything and a real great mix of people, love them or hate them, team Meg and Helena or team Shakira and Toni. Its got everyone talking, as has Harry, Dejon and Harrison.

Sometimes I think LI can't win. Everyone couples up quickly and viewers complain its boring and no-one gets their heads turned and are asking for drama. This year they have given them drama galore and everyone is now complaining that there are no real solid couples. 😂

Sorry that was meant to be a 😍to your comment ! Fat fingers !

I don’t ever watch All Stars either but I seem to recall that Luca was called out for being quite controlling when he was couple us with Michael Owen’s daughter whose name now escapes me

Ah that makes sense as I also don’t watch All Stars, so it was the MO’s daughter coupling with Bish I now recall, thanks. Can’t remember her name either but she had a nice necklace, possibly from a line she was flogging, which says it all really.

honeyrider · 26/07/2025 11:50

Shakira showed more concern for Helena than her so called friend Meg did last night.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 26/07/2025 12:03

There are many fake things about Love Island but justice for Gemma Owen’s vintage Tiffany necklace apparently worth 40k.

Also, post villa she of course did a jewellery colab with a copy for about £30.

upandleftthenright · 26/07/2025 12:06

The biggest and most manipulative game player in all this is Djohn. At least Harry is hopelessly transparent and useless. D is playing a nasty game of mucking about, looking reformed, declaring feelings, exclusive and now boyfriend and girlfriend. Next is declaring he loves her. Definitely an eye on a TV couple follow up show.

In reality, I don’t think he even likes her!

kerstina · 26/07/2025 10:03

Surely I am not the only one who doesn’t view it as a game ? I watch to see couples properly meeting , getting to know each other and falling for each other. I don’t want to watch people faking these emotions.

You are certainly in the minority.

I think, way back, it was about applying to go on a tv show to find a relationship while having a free holiday but as soon as they started recruiting contestants from social media, it changed everything.

To be fair I think they do this so they can say the contestants are more media savvy, and used to negative criticism and LI can’t be blamed for damaging their mental
health.

Itstwelveoclocksomewhere · 26/07/2025 12:43

I agree with PP this year has been great.

Nobody wants to turn on their tv to watch a group of adults choose a partner from
a group of six, people and settle into a relationship for a few months. Having a few games thrown in and the odd ‘test’ doesn’t make for exciting tv.

They need the outspoken, fearless people. They make watching it worthwhile. Without them it’s a very dull tv show.

Surely boring is better than manipulative and controlling, which is exactly what Mustard is? I love that Yasmin's got his number, despite being in the villa for quite a while now, so not being privy to everything we've seen as viewers. I'm not keen on her fake sex kitten persona or her contant nodding and repeating back what's said to her, but she's clearly quite switched on and very perceptive.

She was talking about Meg though not Dejon

kerstina · 26/07/2025 13:35

jay55 · 26/07/2025 11:11

Did Luca and Grace happen on all stars? I didn’t watch that series. I remember him from first time round being a bit annoying and as pp said the fish overkill from Iain.

Yes they got together on all stars . He resisted leaving Grace on the show for a Gemma Owen lookalike who made a play for him. I know they are still together judging by their instagram.

CellophaneFlower · 26/07/2025 13:52

I assumed as a couple? Either way, it's not a healthy relationship and I'd sooner be bored by Yasmin than have to sit watching those 2 convince each other they're love's young dream.

Frederica4 · 26/07/2025 13:55

Firework73 · 26/07/2025 10:16

I think like others have said it’s all about the career path to being famous… Shakira s very telling comment about being spotted in Aldi might have been tongue in cheek but telling at the same time !

Yeah, I told DH the other night that she might as well have a sign or swimsuit on saying “Aldi, please let me be a brand ambassador.”

While they definitely go in for the brand deals and post-show fame, I don't think that necessarily means the chance at love falls to the wayside, especially if you're an unlucky-in-love twentysomething with attractive bombshells being thrown in every week. I think islanders know at this stage that most bombshells are specifically tailored for someone, whether to be a relationship test or their true match. It's why you so often see them praying in the beach hut for producers to send in someone their type. It's also hard to fake interest and pretend to be in love with someone for two months but Dejon is giving it a good go.

LI has had many solid long-term relationships, engagements, marriages and babies, so as a dating show it is quite successful.

I agree there’s a few success stories relationship-wise but, relative to the sheer amount of contestants over the years (I can’t even remember the names of loads of contestants this series alone!), it’s a small amount I think.

As a side note, anyone else hate this concept of “needing/passing a test” some of the contestants talk about every bloody series? It is so toxic for young viewers watching thinking this is normal in relationships. I started dating my husband nearly a decade ago and it was just a few dates then it was assumed we were exclusively dating just each other without any conversation about it then I don’t ever remember us deciding we were boyfriend and girlfriend! I think he just introduced me as his girlfriend to someone one day after we’d been dating for a few months. No tests to pass!

CagneyNYPD1 · 26/07/2025 14:22

I think some people go on LI for the followers and brand deals. And some for the long holiday and experience. Some do go on for the chance of finding someone. I suspect that for many, it’s a bit of a mix of all 3.

Kai and Sanam are due to get married in the next few weeks. They are proper Casa LI winners.

Itstwelveoclocksomewhere · 26/07/2025 15:36

The producers are the ones who decide the winners.

I think that is why it is unfair they continuously highlight certain people’s conversations and not others.

Their decision to bring back Blu and Megan is very questionable too.

Personally, once it’s over I forget anyone who was ever in LI.

Same.

I don’t even recognise the names.

jay55 · 26/07/2025 16:28

I remember a few, forget a lot, get surprised when they show up on celeb masterchef…
It is an interesting season, I’ve given up on other years part way through. It’s nice for the winner to really go to the wire.
It changes every day for me.
We don’t even know who the couples will be at this point.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 26/07/2025 16:50

Hope Helena has the common sense now to not go back to that vile article bloody Harry. He is repugnant!

Yeah, why DID they bring back Blu and Megan? I genuinely cannot see the point. I agree with Toni that Blu is entitled to fuck-all opinions as he hasn't been there for a month! He seemed furious that she gave zero shits about his rantings and critisisms. I still dislike Megan. Nothing has changed there.

Yas summed it up perfectly after the Grafties. The other girls are only warm and welcoming/ want to be friendly with girls they don't see as a threat to their fragile relationships. Such a good point about how pathetic M&D's jealousy claims are when the public showed they see through their 'relationship' in that podium task.
Loved the way Conor took Harry to task, because despite the shit Harry's done, that downfall playing out so publicly, could leave him in a really vulnerable position mentally. And Conor drew it all out with calm questions, holding him accountable with just the right amount of gentle. Top guy.

In many ways Dejon is even worse than Harry- he has encouraged him, been in his ear, egged him on. He's claiming ignorance but I think literally the only thing he didn't know about was Harry telling Emma he still had love for her. So from a public perspective, it now just looks like Dejon's only distancing himself now it's blown up in H's face. What he should've done was at least check in on Harry. H doesn't deserve sympathy, but he will be in a vulnerable place mentally. Again, screams disingenuous and desperate for the cash.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 26/07/2025 16:57

How weird was Blu? Pulling Toni for a chat like that. I assumed he was going to apologise but then just seemed to want her to apologise to him.

He seemed to want to get a reaction out of her and then when she literally gave no fucks he just seemed to keep pushing and prodding and getting annoyed with her, bordering on aggressive, when she just didn't respond how he wanted her to.

Good on Toni for just getting up and walking away from that.

Honestly if Yas goes there I will lose all respect for her.

The guy's a tool

LotaWyseWomen · 26/07/2025 17:14

Am watching alongside my late teens dd. It’s interesting viewing and giving lots of material for us to discuss boundaries and behaviour. I’m so glad she’s older now. I would not have liked her to be watching this a couple of years ago. Dd thinks Harry really wants Shakira. My observation to her is if this is the case, maybe he’s scared of the commitment albeit he’s been in a ltr before.

I also think in some ways Dijon is worse than Harry. He’s definitely pulling strings whereas Harry is just living in the moment, can’t see past tomorrow and all over the place.

I wonder if he has abandonment and commitment issues. He seems to jump full swing into a relationship then starts to self sabotage. He even said he was the only one, who thought he should be with Shakira and everyone thought he should go back to Helena. So he went to Helena. Of course she pushed him as well. That makes him seem like a pawn and this isn’t at all what I mean. And if he doesn’t have maturity, conviction and self belief it’s easier to be swayed. Someone mentioned he may be ND. If this is the case, it may go some way to explain his immaturity.
